Jewish Family Service of Rhode Island financial assistance programs.

Programs offered from the Jewish Family Service of Rhode Island can help low income families. Most of them are offered to all income qualified residents, however others are restricted. The non-profit may offer emergency financial support, counseling, help for the elderly, and free meals.

The agency provides services across the state, including in Providence and Pawtucket. They also offer some assistance to southern Massachusetts, including Bristol County. While the demand for help is very high, they do their best to fulfill all requests for assistance, meals, or senior care.

When applying for any type of emergency financial assistance or loans, applicants will need to go through an intake and application process. If found to be qualified, then JFSRI can sometimes provide the individual with cash assistance or referrals to other resources. This may be offered regardless of religion or faith.

Funds can be for housing, food, rent, and utility bill assistance. In addition to that, the objective of the short term, emergency financial assistance program is to help address the immediate crisis and also coordinate financial stability and long term self-sufficiency.

A case manager from Jewish Family Service of Rhode Island will meet with applicants. They will review and assess their need. If aid is not available, social workers will instead provide information on other local non-profits that can offer food or low income housing. Any cash paid out by JFSRI or any other charity will also go directly to a utility company, creditor, or landlord.

Case Management provides clients with help in accessing social and other emergency services, including financial assistance. There is also information on local workshops or guidance on self-sufficiency. These free services are available to low income families in the general Rhode Island community, including Providence.

Disabled and seniors can get support and guidance from Jewish Family Service of Rhode Island (JFSRI). The program known as Older Adult Resources offers assistance in order for clients to maintain an independent lifestyle. Services are available on a short term basis.

What may be offered includes the Lifeline RI medical alert service, personal home care by trained staff, low cost home delivered meals, and information on government aid such as Medicare. Seniors may also qualify for financial aid or case management for paying bills or rent, as noted above. Counseling services are also coordinated for caretakers as well as the disabled/seniors themselves. Find additional senior citizen assistance programs in Rhode Island.

Home Care is for sick, seniors, disabled, or recovering individuals. Jewish Family Service wants people to remain independent and living at home. This will help them maintain a comfortable and independent lifestyle.

Certified Nursing Assistants can be coordinated as part of In-Home Care solutions. They can help with light housework, personal care, shopping, and meal preparation. This is offered for individuals who need short-term assistance at home following an illness or hospitalization, senior citizens, the disabled, or Rhode Island residents with a chronic illness.

Kosher meals are for seniors and the disabled in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, The non-profit provides food and groceries from a couple different centers, including in Warwick, Pawtucket and Providence.  People who stop by can also get referrals to social services and public aid, if needed.

Counseling is offered to address health, family, emotional, school, work, or life stress. This is offered from the Rhode Island Jewish Family Service, or JFSRI. There may be therapy sessions, counseling, and support for entire families, as well as children. Some fees are required to be paid, but insurance can be accepted.

Several other programs are offered by Jewish Family Service of Rhode Island. The main office is at 959 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904. Call (401) 331-1244.
