Atlanta region Jewish Family and Career Services resources.

The entire Atlanta Georgia region, including the counties of Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Cobb, and nearby regions are supported by Jewish Family and Career Services of Atlanta. The non-profit help people of all religions, cultures, ages, faiths, and lifestyles. Various financial support, career, health, and human services are offered. However the demand is high and not all applications can be fulfilled.

Emergency financial assistance for basic needs can be met by Atlanta JF&CS. The center responds to community needs in a number of ways. The main goal of the programs are to assist less fortunate people and families in economic crisis and put them into position where they can help themselves over the long term.

A formal application process is in place. Any assistance paid out is usually one time only and can help an income qualified family or individual pay the bills or rent over the short time but really regain self-sufficiency. So the applicant needs to have a plan in place to do this.

Jewish Family and Career Services of Atlanta (JF&CS) has plans for issuing emergency financial assistance. As just once example, those applicants who are work-ready and in need of employment assistance are referred to job programs or a career counselor. Often times a case manager will refer people to another local Fulton or Gwinnett County community organization, such as a Consumer Credit Counseling Services or maybe a program that serves the homeless.

In addition to assisting the qualified applicant with an immediate need for help, the staff member will help to connect the individual to other support. Other aid may be funds for rent to prevent homelessness or emergency utility assistance.

The Kosher Food Pantry helps hundreds of families per year. The center will also have referrals to other local charities and faith based groups. The pantry may pass out Canned fruit, veggies, healthy cereal, applesauce, canned fish, mayo & crackers, Canned soups, shelf stable milk, oatmeal, Detergents/cleaning supplies, or pasta. If after applying for food, if they are eligible for services, people are asked to provide documentation substantiating their needs, such as an eviction notice, copy of ID or social security card or an overdue utility bill.

Ways to Work can help address transportation needs or lack of cards. Jewish Family and Career Services of Atlanta is a member of this nationwide program that provides small, low interest loans to working parents who cannot get financing elsewhere. The purpose of the low interest loan is to help families pay for the purchase of a reliable used car to assist in finding a job or maybe sustaining employment.

 

 

 

Atlanta Jewish Services employment type resources

Atlanta JF&CS also helps clients gain stability. They run Tools for Employment which offer high-quality employment services to the unemployed, students, job seekers and employers. Specialists provide people across the regions, including Fulton County, with career counseling services, assessments and job search strategies. Get help in setting career direction and conducting successful job searches. The agency offers tangible supports to the job seeker in polishing their portfolio of skills and talents and making the best impression with a potential employer.

The program also offers clients resume critiques, career counseling and access to numerous job search strategies. The staff from the agency, known as professional Career Sourcing Specialists, are strongly dedicated to matching job seekers with appropriate positions for placement in the greater Atlanta Georgia region. Staff from the agency have also partnered with numerous organizations, businesses and non-profits in the counties of Gwinnet, DeKalb and Fulton to identify opportunities for clients.

Career Workshops operate and are geared toward individuals at all levels of employment. It is for people who are beginning their career or it can also assist executive-level job seekers. Tools for Employment runs workshops that help job seekers practice strategies and overcome challenges. Sessions include Expert Resume Development, Savvy Job Searching and Networking, and staff offer Keys to Successful Interviewing.

Counseling from specialists help people enhance their professional lives. The services and guidance was designed to help people succeed in career transition and exploration by providing one-on-one counseling, group workshops, assessments, and offer job search assistance. Topics include interview preparation, job search strategy, and resume development classes.

The disabled in Atlanta can also get help from JF&CS. Their Developmental Disabilities Services - TFI Tools for Independence offers clients services and programs. They are involved in supporting individuals (mostly adults) with developmental disabilities, their family caregivers and other key members of the household. The center follows a person-centered approach to ensure those with disabilities have a hand in directing services.

 

 

 

 

The main goal is to help individuals realize their dreams and to integrate them into the larger Atlanta community by providing them with a social network, developmental supports, employment and even a means of transportation.

Other community agencies work with Jewish Family and Career Services of Atlanta as well. They include service providers and employers to maximize assistance to qualified clients. Participants and their families can turn to the agency for resources, community information and a full array of human services concerning adults from the region with developmental disabilities.

The agency helps seniors as well. They offer the aging an umbrella of programs that are designed to support both older adults, their caregivers and family members. The Jewish Agency has geriatric care managers, licensed clinical social workers, specialists, registered nurses, master's level clinicians and other professional staff members on call. Some of what may be offered includes food, information on Medicaid and free health care companionship, and transportation services.
