St. Vincent de Paul assistance programs Brown County Wisconsin.

The main services from the SVDP in Green Bay Wisconsin is a thrift store/clothing closet. It sells, or gives away, items such as winter coats, boots, hats, gloves, electronics, furniture and more. In some rare cases, the Saint Vincent de Paul can provide short term emergency financial help for bills or rent or free food in Brown County fro the Personal Services Center (PSC)

Trained Venetians will meet with the applicant for financial assistance. Or volunteers and donations funds, and allow, the thrift store to open. The Society of Saint Vincent, and its churches, try to help the less fortunate in Brown County.

Low cost and free items

Brown County St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores are volunteer-operated, with support from a small number of part time staff. The stores are also donation driven, so that the prices that someone pays will also be the lowest available in the general region.

The stores sell bargains and “treasures”. What this means is that shoppers can buy clothing of all sizes, books, baby items, antiques, furniture, collectibles, and an incredible amount of other useful household essentials. The SVDP Green Bay Thrift Store is the place to find both every day, needed items and unique or decorative items as well!

There can be some special assistance provided as well. In situations of crisis, and when the family meets income targets, some items may be available free of charge. Or they can help households recovering from a disaster, such as fire or flood. Contact one of the case managers to find out if you are in special need.

The Society of St. Vincent can give out free items, when resources allow and if there is a crisis. When a low to moderate income family, sick person, disabled, or elderly has a crisis and no other options, there may be some free stuff such as winter jackets, medical equipment (wheelchairs), hats, boots, school supplies and more. A major focus is on children and the elderly – keeping them warm, safe, and on track for school. Or find other free stuff from charities or the government.

Referrals and Brown County SVDP financial support from Personal Services Center

When resources and funds allow, there may be one time financial help. There are some families who can receive these services. Criteria range from income to stability, employment, and much more. Working together are community organizations and non-profit agencies, local governments, churches, and other groups.

They may have some limited funding, or other supplies such as food, cleaning supplies, furniture and more. All of the financial help is combined with services like Job Preparation/Employment Services, Housing Inspections for Tenants, Counseling, Follow-up, Outreach, and general Case Management.

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul will use money raised from the thrift store. This will offer funds to the less fortunate. It is for emergencies only, as a last resort. The funds may help with rent or utility bills to stop an eviction. Or heating bills during the cold Green Bay winter months to keep say a single mom or low income family warm.

Hot meals and food may be served. This can help the homeless in Brown County as well as very, very low income families. Society of Saint Vincent, and the volunteers, work to prevent hunger and keep people fed in the community.
