Kent and Ottawa County free holiday assistance.

Whether it is free Christmas help needed, or support at Thanksgiving, a number of holiday assistance programs operate in Kent and Ottawa County. Many of them are based in the Grand Rapids Michigan area, but they support the entire region. Find free toys, presents, gifts, and other assistance during the holiday seasons.

What the programs may offer to kids, seniors, parents, and the poor include the following:

  • Free gifts including presents, games, toys, and more.
  • Food boxes that can help a family prepare a Thanksgiving or Christmas meal.
  • Christmas stocking stuffers, candy, and other free gifts.

Applications are needed well in advance. The demand in both Kent and Ottawa County is very high. Bring proof of income when applying for help at Thanksgiving or Christmas. In addition, volunteers are often needed. Note some of the assistance programs, including Angel Tree and Toys for tots, prevent duplication of services. So families can only get help from one agency at a time.
