St. Vincent de Paul assistance programs Chambersburg and Franklin County.

The primary goal of St. Vincent de Paul is to meet the basic needs of Franklin County Pennsylvania residents in need. This is either done by direct aid or referrals, but in any case there are many services available in the region. Anyone seeking support should bring a copy of their Social Security Card, photo ID, and the original bill, prescription request or lease with which you need help.

Note that any type of monetary assistance or even free food from Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church St. Vincent de Paul is provided on a first come first served basis. There is both a daily as well as monthly limit in place, and of course everything depends on funding levels. Some of the services range from vouchers to medications or gasoline to rent help, loans for certain bills, holiday assistance, and of course free food. Other support may be coordinated too, although eligibility requirements must be addressed in person by St. Vincent de Paul staff.

Resources from the Chambersburg Society of Saint Vincent

Each and every week the Franklin County PA St. Vincent de Paul food pantry distributes items to people in need. There may even be items for pets, such as free dog or cat food. The shelves are stocked with donated groceries, fresh fruits, and personal items (such as razors and more). All of these goods are then given out to the community for free.

The goal is to never turn anyone away from getting a box of food. But identification is needed. However, when the shelves get low, or the demand is high, there may need to be some allocations given out. In these cases, priority will generally be for the low income with a one off crisis. The food pantry will help people of all ages, genders, ages, religions, etc. and no discrimination takes place. The items given out may be as follows. The pantry address is 279 N. 2nd Street, Chambersburg, PA.

Financial aid as well as Support Services are arranged to help families move from low income to financial stability. Staff from St. Vincent de Paul at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church work with each client to resolve the financial or other hardship situation that precipitated their crisis. So the process battles utility disconnects, homelessness, medical needs, and more. All of the support services are given out to the client whenever possible.

The Support Services process may have some money to help with a bill or two. But much of the assistance is in the form of linkages to budgeting, independent living skill training, counseling, entitlement and benefit management, job centers, and referrals. They also help with medical or mental needs. As Franklin County Pennsylvania has a number of  supportive services for people with mental health issues, or substance abuse.
