Free clothes, household goods, beds, furniture, household goods, back to school supplies and more stuff may be available in Essex County. Several non-profit clothing closets, community action agencies, and furniture banks can either provide direct assistance to qualified low income and struggling households. Or the centers may direct qualified residents to local clothing or free furniture banks or thrift stores, where they may be provided a voucher.

The types and amount of items will vary throughout the year. For example, during the winter, items such as Christmas assistance, boots, and winter coats may be offered. During the summer, school supplies and uniforms for the upcoming year may be passed out. There are also work uniforms, household furniture or kitchen supplies as well as other stuff for children (or adults). While not as common, some of the clothing closets may offer financial aid or maybe even free food.
