Elmira free food banks and pantries.

Free food is available to people facing a crisis. Struggling families in Chemung County New York can receive not only a box of groceries, but volunteers at many of the non-profits will direct them to other services. There is also additional attention given to senior citizens in the form of Meals on Wheels, and anyone from the community can stop by a location.

Most of the food banks in the region partner with local organizations. This is done in an effort to better serve the needy. When donations allow, a charity may have fruit, produce, baby formula, and more. Assistance is based on household size, and hundreds of people are supported each year. During the fall and winter months in Elmira, special seasonal programs such as free Christmas or Thanksgiving meals may be served as well.
