Eagle, Lake, Montezuma County assistance programs.

Find how to get financial help, and where to apply. Low income families, senior citizens, the disabled and others can find programs that help pay their rent or utility bills, provide free food, as well as medical or dental care in Eagle, Montezuma and Lake County. There are also loans for paying other living expenses, including transportation, mortgages, and security deposits. There are churches, charities, non-profits and other resources for struggling families.

Help for rent, energy bills, and other financial aid

Salvation Army of Edwards Colorado offers several forms of financial assistance. Get help with paying rent, utility and energy bills, and a food pantry. Food and nutrition is offered to low-income families. Usually focuses on people facing an eviction, or a disconnection of their utilities. 970-926-3704

The Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) is run by the local Social Services office. Call 1-800-225-6136. The local government office, and in particular the LIHEAP program, may be able to help needy Colorado residents pay their winter utility and heating bills. In addition the Social Services office can provide other assistance. In particular information and referrals.

Get information on government programs such as health care, free food pantries and banks, and other forms of aid. For example, commodities are offered as a once-a-month supply of federal government surplus foods available for low-income families and individuals in the region. Some of the other programs they may be able to help with include Medicare and Medicaid, and the Homeless Prevention and Rapid Rehousing Program. The Lake County local office can be called at 970-486-2088. Montezuma Department of Social Services can be called at 970-565-3769.

Eagle County Smiles provides free or low cost dental care. The clinic provides dental care to the low income as well as under and uninsured to ultimately reduce incidence of oral disease and dental issues. Call 970-845-6339, or find other Colorado dental clinics.

 

 

 

 

Eagle Care Medical Clinic, which can be called at 970-569-7520, can offer high quality, yet very affordable health care to uninsured or underinsured persons as well as the low income and unemployed who live in Eagle County.

Northwest Colorado Council of Governments runs, among other things, the Weatherization Program, which is a free government funded service for low-income as well as working poor residents of Colorado. Qualified individuals may be able to save money by using less energy in their homes. Services offered as part of weatherization include furnace and refrigerator replacement, storm windows, insulation, pellet stoves, weather stripping, light bulbs, and more. 1-800-332-3669

Montelores Emergency Assistance Coalition (MEAC) - phone number (970) 564-1195 offers information, health care, and a number of services and resources for the low income in the community.
