Denver foreclosure and mortgage assistance.

About a dozen non-profit organization in the Denver Colorado area provide homeowners with free foreclosure counseling and prevention services. Some of these agencies can also help people buy a home, reduce debts, repair credit, and offer other assistance in addition to the foreclosure and mortgage delinquency assistance.

Adams County Housing Authority (A.C.H.A.), which can be reached at 303-227-2075, is an active participant in a number of federal government funded mortgage assistance programs, all of which can assist with preventing foreclosures, can stop evictions, and can even help people to become first time homeowners. The address of the agency is 7190 Colorado Blvd., in Commerce City, CO 80022.

HUD certified Brothers Redevelopment, Inc. (BRI). Their main office is located at 2250 Eaton Street, Suite B, Denver, CO 80033. The agency is a not for profit housing and debt counseling organization providing free or low cost housing services and foreclosure prevention to the less fortunate including comprehensive housing counseling and education. City of Aurora - Home Ownership Assistance Program (HOAP) focuses just on the Aurora Colorado area. The agency offers comprehensive mortgage default counseling as well as reverse mortgage counseling. Dial 303-739-7900.

Residents of the city or county of Denver only can contact the Colorado Housing Assistance Corporation (CHAC). They are located on 670 Santa Fe Drive. Some of the resources offered include free foreclosure prevention. The non-profit CHAC offers flexible low interest loans to eligible homeowners in the County and  and City of Denver in order to help them catch up on past due mortgage payments. The loan can even help them pay their property taxes. The agency is a non-profit HUD Certified Housing Counseling Agency, and people must be referred to the services to CHAC. Dial 303-572-9445.

Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Denver can offer residents foreclosure prevention, assist them with addressing predatory lending concerns, pre-purchase, refinancing,  and home buyer workshops. The foreclosure prevention is offered in Spanish or English too. Toll-Free 800-224-9885

Del Norte NDC - Mercedes Fuentes, Homeownership Counselor can give homeowners free foreclosure prevention and mortgage delinquency counseling, homebuyer education and financial fitness classes for consumer education, credit repair, and other financial services. Call 303-477-4774.

Individuals in the Castle Rock, Lone Tree and Parker and Douglas County Colorado area can contact the Douglas County Housing Partnership at 303-784-7857. Specialists are involved in preserving (so preventing foreclosures) and developing secure, safe, high quality, affordable housing, provide housing choices for those who have few and enhancing the economic stability of Douglas County by providing housing opportunities and free or low cost housing counseling services for those who are employed in the County. Northeast Denver Housing Center, which has its main office on 1735 Gaylord Street, Denver, Colorado, runs a free foreclosure counseling program. Specifically, speak to a counselor for free foreclosure prevention, new homeownership buying advice and programs and reverse equity. Call 303-377-3334.

SWIC, or Southwest Improvement Council (phone number 303-934-2181) has a first time home buyer down payment assistance, help with financial management (budgets and debt reduction counseling), and free or low cost housing and foreclosure counseling of all types. Other aid is even offered too, including limited amounts of  free food, clothing, hot lunch for seniors, health promotion programs for adults, and recreation and education for children.
