Free Housing Help in Delaware — HUD-Certified Agencies by County.
If you own a home in Delaware and you're behind on your mortgage, worried about foreclosure, or just trying to figure out your options — a HUD-certified housing counselor can sit down with you for free and help you make sense of your situation. Below you will find details on the HUD housing agencies in Delaware as well as a summary of the services provided.
These are trained nonprofit professionals who know Delaware's foreclosure process, know how to talk to lenders, and have no financial stake in which direction you go. All help from a HUD-certified agency is free. Anyone who asks for money upfront to stop your foreclosure is running a scam. Report them to the Delaware Attorney General at 800-220-5424. There is also a national call center operated by HUD, and call 800-569-4287 for additional options if needed or see the dedicated HUD page for Delaware at https://www.hud.gov/states/delaware.
- NOTE: Delaware is a small state with three counties, and several of the HUD-certified housing counseling agencies here serve all of them. Whether you own a home in Wilmington, are buying in Sussex County, or are behind on your mortgage in Dover, free help is available — often from the same organization that serves your neighbor 60 miles away.
