Get help with rent in Maury County and Columbia Tennessee.

There are a few paces that offer either short term rent assistance or long term housing support in the Maury County Tennessee region. The options from churches, charities, or the government include one or more of the following, and it depends on whether there is a tenant (who may get rent or utility bill help) or homeless person (who may get shelter, rapid rehousing or guidance).

-Grants from ESG to pay for back rent, storage fees, moving costs, security deposits, or other expenses associated with tenants.
-Loans from lenders, banks, or credit unions in Columbia
-Free legal aid to stop evictions.
-Section 8 Housing Vouchers or rent subsidized apartments, condos, and homes.
-Homeless prevention and repaid rehousing from the government.

Emergency rental or energy bill assistance is provided at most two days per month. Tenants, families in need, single moms, and the vulnerable are given priority. Either loans or grants are used for paying back rent fees or other related bills.

Columbia CARES only helps people with HIV and/or AIDS. The charity administers the HOPWA rent and housing assistance programs. It is known as Housing Opportunities for People With AIDS service. Based on federal government HUD funding, it may help pay rent, job or medical expenses, transitional housing, moving costs and more. Dial 931-381-0114. The goal is to keep people housed and safe. South Central Human Resource Agency of Maury County
The local Community Action Agency provides poverty fighting programs. Referrals to government grants for paying rent or heating bills, legal aid (including eviction help), job programs, and more. More on South Central Human Resources Community Action Agency.

The non-profit PHA administers section 8 HUD housing choice vouchers for paying rent. They also operate low cost housing for seniors, the poor, and disabled.

 

 

 

 

Legal Aid Society of Maury County

The non-profit gives free legal advice on housing issues, discrimination, foreclosure counseling, and eviction help. Free attorneys or paralegals help the low income.

Salvation Army Family Services
Various emergency financial aid programs (including for rent), homeless shelters, case management, and other programs are offered. A shelter is Place of Hope, and they focus on substance abuse as well as drug treatment. They give short term housing, medical aid, counseling and other support to the homeless. The shelter is in Columbia, TN 38402, and the intake number is 931-388-9406.
