Boston and Eastern Massachusetts Catholic Charities assistance programs.

Families across the greater Boston area, including Suffolk and Middlesex County Massachusetts, can turn to Catholic Charities for help. The non-profit organization may be able to assist people who need help providing for their family and meeting basic needs. Whether you need support with paying energy bills, food, housing, holiday assistance, or other aid, your local Catholic Charity affiliated church in Boston or nearby towns may be able to help you in your time of need.

The charity organization has about 15 sites located around the region. Locations are tasked with helping people deal with a short term hardship that they may be facing. Case managers from Catholic Charities will embrace each and every family in the Boston area, and present them with a plan to achieve long term self-sufficiency.

Assistance from Catholic Charities

While each location will have its own funding and specialties, in general a wide range of support and assistance programs are offered for qualified individuals. Resources range from rent and mortgage assistance, free food, furniture, baby supplies, diapers, and clothing. The demand for services will usually increase during the holiday season, so Catholic Charities can provide holiday assistance for low income families and seniors. The centers may offer gifts for their children at Christmas, or a hot meal or food box at Thanksgiving or Christmas time.

Housing assistance is offered in the form of emergency rental assistance, shelter, or short term transitional housing. They will help individuals and families work towards a goal of maintaining or getting a roof over their heads. The Catholic Charity agency runs a variety of temporary shelters in Suffolk County and surrounding areas.

They can also help families get into permanent, long term supportive housing. The shelters are staffed by highly trained men and women who help guide each family, and get them back on track with self-sufficiency and independent living. Some of the shelters offered include Nazareth Residence, St. Ambrose Family Shelter, Brigid's Crossing, St. Patrick's Shelter, and Genesis II. In addition, Boston Catholic Charities can give referrals to security deposit programs and other financial help. Find other details on transitional low cost housing in Suffolk County.
