Big Woods Love Inc assistance programs.

Churches in the greater Wright County region work with Love Inc to help meet basic needs. While the charity organization will offer referrals and some direct aid, most of the support is available in the form of referrals from their clearinghouse.

Support is generally offered for families that have no other options available to them and that are faced with a one time crisis. Love Inc and its staff will also require the applicant to achieve stability. Another focus is on the elderly in towns such as Buffalo, Hanover and Maple Lake Minnesota.

Furniture is available, mostly as the result of a program run by St. Francis Xavier Catholic church. Using donations, Love Inc. may have beds, cribs for new babies, and other more critical items. When people from the community call in offering to donate their furniture to the church, they will send a volunteer out to make inspect the items and arrange for pick up if possible. The charity is always looking for gently used items so they can continue this furniture program. For more information, to volunteer, or contribute, dial 763-682-2550.

Lullaby has free baby supplies. This Big Woods ministry is for income qualified families with babies or infants. There may also be goods for families with young children, and it is called the Lullaby ministry. During the Intake procedure arranged by Love, clients of the church are asked what they need.

As resources allow, the Lullaby program may have free wipes, diapers, blankets, baby bottles and other type of supplies. For those that qualify, Love may even arrange to have the goods delivered to the family or household in question. If you can donate to the ministry in Wright County, please do so. The demand for diapers, clothing, and other items is greatly needed, and the Clearinghouse is the place to contact.

Repairs for cars or homes may be arranged for clients who qualify. Many volunteers across the greater Buffalo region volunteer their service to this cause. They may help a senior with a repair, or arrange to have a car fixed if it is needed for work reasons. There may also need to be transportation to medical or work-related appointments.

Free meals and food items are offered at partners across Minnesota and Buffalo. There are also monthly meals served for free at the Buffalo Community Center. Fruits, vegetables, and more are served. Some churches may also have Thanksgiving turkeys or Christmas meals served to families and children.

Love Inc relies on partnerships as well. Some of the main ones in Buffalo, Maple Lake, and Hanover include the Salvation Army School Supply Drive. There are also free Winter Coats for Kids. Christmas gifts and toys are offered from the Adopt-a-Family, which is run in partnership with the Buffalo Rotary. Other holiday aid offered in partnership with Love Inc are the Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter Basket meal give-always, and this program is run with the Buffalo Food Shelf.

All of the applications for any type of help will be closely reviewed and screened by the charity. People and families in need of assistance will receive coordinated help through a network of churches, charities and community services and resources. The Love Inc. clearinghouse and helpline has information on this. There may be information to government aid, such as food stamps, or information on local community clinics for medical care. The resources available are wide ranging, and include much more than that.

The Intake Line can be reached at 763-682-6820. As part of this process, the case worker or volunteer will ask the caller questions to determine what the need is. For those facing a critical crisis situation, such as an eviction, referrals may be offered by the intake line.
