Low income families in Bibb and Houston County can get help at the holidays. There are charities that provide free Christmas gifts as well as food pantries and soup kitchens for holiday food, including turkey dinners or meals at Christmas. Find Christmas assistance and holiday programs, ranging from Toys for Tots to Angel Tree, Adopt a Family, and even resources from local businesses.

The main agencies to apply at are below. Some help local families with children, others provide holiday assistance even to homes without kids and/or senior citizens. Apply early for some or all of the following.

-Free Christmas toys for kids, including books, games, electronics, and other items.
-Thanksgiving turkey dinners or meals.
-Angel Tree as well as Adopt a Family from the Salvation Army
Other resources are given too. Some businesses giveaway Christmas gifts and there are volunteers that serve meals. Whether it is help at Christmas, Thanksgiving, or even Easter, assistance is offered in both Bibb and Houston County Georgia.

Toys For Tots of Central Georgia
This is the primary toy giveaway program in the region. There will be new, unwrapped gender specific toys given out for free. Children under the age of 14 (down to infants) may be able to get help. Games, books, electronics, clothes, electronics, and more is provided in both Houston as well as Bibb County. The program is run from Warner Robins, GA, but it supports all of central Georgia. A wide range of goods are given out. Free furniture, food at Thanksgiving or Christmas, small toys or gifts, Christmas clothes and more. There is also emergency financial aid.

 

 

 

 

Salvation Army – Both Houston and Bibb County
The free Angel Tree gift program is offered. Many assistance programs are run as well as social service. There is a low cost Family Store that sells items. Or apply for grants, clothing vouchers, free Christmas gifts and toys for children from underprivileged homes and more. Adopt a Family is also an option. There are also free turkeys at Thanksgiving for the low income.

Holiday food and other resources are given from this church based charity. A free food pantry, small stocking stuffers for kids, and other Christmas and Thanksgiving assistance programs may be arranged.

Kids from working poor families in Bibb County, as well as senior citizens, can get help from Kids Yule. The charity gives everything from free food or groceries to toys to children.
