Free clothing closets, furniture and school supplies in Bergen County New Jersey.

Find where to turn to for free or low cost clothes, diapers, back to school supplies, furniture and household goods in Bergen County. Several not-for profit clothing closets, charities, and government agencies focus on meeting the needs of the low income as well as job seekers.

While some of the centers will provide goods for free, others (mostly thrift stores) will sell items at low cost to the general public. Donations are also appreciated and needed. Please do contribute to a Bergen County location. Items that may be distributed include winter coats, professional work clothes, furniture, uniforms, school items, and even toys and gifts around Christmas. All locations may provide what are known as vouchers so that those who qualify can receive free items from the locations.

Works with newborns and pregnant mothers. The non-profit provides services such as free pregnancy testing, advice, and support to pregnant women. Some of the material goods are more limited, but when available may offer free baby clothes, food, baby items, cribs, free diapers, and other maternity clothes.

The public from Bergen County can use this facility. It is a thrift shop that relies on and accepts donations of kitchen items, small furniture, clothing (in season), toys, and books. Other items like furniture or appliances may be available too. These items are then resold to the general public at lower prices. Proceeds from the sale of these items benefits 52 different organizations and regional financial assistance programs.

This is a national non-profit with locations across New Jersey. The center collects and distributes, for free, gently used business-appropriate clothing such as dresses, slacks, and shoes. All items go to women clients entering or the job market. Career counseling and other employment services may be offered too.

A thrift shops has quality but gently used resale items for purchase. Donations range from small appliances, furniture and clothing. There may be beds, couches, adult diapers, and more for low to moderate income senior citizens or the disabled.

Free Furniture Bank in Bergen County - Furniture Assist
The charity supports northern NJ. Gently used goods, including beds, couches, tables, lamps, and other items may be passed out. It is a free, regional furniture bank for the working poor, low income, immigrants, single mothers and struggling families. Call 973-868-6007

A various number of assistance programs are offered, including a free clothing closet (for income qualified) and thrift stores. Other resources include family counseling, aid to transients, referrals to other agencies, moral and spiritual services, food pantry, soup kitchen and free Christmas and Holiday programs. A free annual school supply giveaway even also takes place in the summer and fall.
