Unemployment not enough for bills
Re: Unemployment assistance
My wife and I have been out of work for almost 6 months for me,3 for him. Neither of us were receiving any money from unemployment or any other resources. My husband started doing "WHAT HE HAD TO DO" is how he put it. I did not ask because I was afraid of his answer. I would just talk & pray to God for him. To make a long story short I have several major bills due within the next 3 days & I have 50 dollars to my name(gas for job hunting and interviews). The worst part tho is my husband was incarcerated last night. I do not know where else to turn. This is a first for me but I'm sure I will learn to humble myself and learn to ask for help as God tells me too. I have no choice. He knows best. My husband has a bond but it is 1000.00. There is no way I can come up with that and pay bills. I am terrified I will become homeless which make my black hole of depression grow. I am a bi-polar, ADD patient (and owe there also) and I have to struggle everyday I live when times are good so days like yesterday & today make it almost unbearable. I just don't even want to come out of my house or see or talk to anyone EVER. But I must I have no one else. I need help, PLEASE! Thank you, Gainesville, GA 30507

Re: Unemployment assistance
As far as finding a home or apartment, we can't help there, We can provide information on agencies to call for rent or housing help in Atlantic City New Jersey. Also look into Section 8 housing in your area.
For rent help in Atlantic City try these different places and programs listed. For example, Atlantic Human Resources, Inc. offer short term funds and advice, and long term counseling. They may have some rental programs. Call 609-348-4131Another places to call is Atlantic County Salvation Army. 856-696-5252 Both typically focus aid on the disabled and low income first and foremost.

Re: Unemployment assistance
The rent amount per month is reasonable. You should be able to get some help with that, at least partial rent help. Look for Alameda County financial assistance programs and options. Some of the places to call will be the Oakland Community Action Partnership, which serves the entire county. They do run some homeless and eviction prevention programs. 510-238-2362. ECHO Housing (phone (510) 836-4826) runs the local rent assistance program.

I have lupus anti cogulant and am pron to getting blood clots. This is causing me to be unable to work at this time. My disability is in process now on being approved or denied. I need help with my rent for July and August to hold me over till they can make their decision. My rent is 529 a month, Even if I can only get July paid, I can try to figure something out for August. Any help or any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Re: Unemployment not enough for bills
Yes, most community action agencies will only offer limited help, and can't ask multiple times. That being said you can call them and ask. Maybe they can't give you money, but they can maybe provide information on other local churches, agencies, non-profits to call. Or even federal government programs. Look into assistance programs Allegheny County. Off the top of my head there are options like Action Housing (phone (412) 281-2102), the Urban League of Pittsburgh (call (412) 681-1110) and other agencies as well.

I have already utilized the community organization in my area once last year-(they assisted me with rent at that time too-300.00) so I am hesitant to contact them again, I have been actively searching for employment daily with no calls at all so far! If you know of any other agencies I can contact for help in my area, please let me know-I live in Bellevue, Pennsylvania-(oftentimes Bellevue and Pennsylvania are used interchangeably) thanks for your time.

Re: Unemployment assistance
So you lost your job in Philadelphia and that is the water company there? Call these different non-profits and agencies in the area for assistance in Philadelphia. Dozens of different places are available to call for financial assistance and free advice. A great place, in Philly or any city, is the local Catholic Charities (of Philadelphia in this case). They can help people of all religions, and provide information and or limited funds. Phone number 215.587.3590. You may be able to get $500 from the Utility Emergency Services Fund. It can help you keep power and water on, or reconnect your utility service. Their phone number is (215) 829-0545

That didn't matter. I have a temp job only paying me for 20 hr weeks. Better than nothing though and I'm not complaining. I'm still sending out resumes daily for full time work. In the meantime I have no money right now.
Can you help me please? I have a young daughter and we cannot do without water. Please advise. Thank you!

Re: unemployment not enough
Yes, unemployment often does not pay the cost of rent or other bills people have. It helps, but never enough. There are some assistance programs in Minnesota. There are places like the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, which may help with those surgery and medical needs. Another bigger is the Community Emergency Assistance Program, Inc., which is more of the general Minnesota assistance fund. Call them at 763-566-9600. This agency offers a wide number of financial assistance. The truck expense is too bad, but on the positive side you will need transportation when you interview for new jobs, so it was not for nothing. Find more info on Minnesota assistance programs

Rent is due by June 2 of 500.00 I have no money and need help. I live with my daughter who is a single mom and can not help. I need some help we got laid off April 27,2010. I have just heard from unemployment I will finally get but not until this week or 164.00 a week but my rent is 700.00 I used my last check for May rent county wont help because i get unemployment coming in now. And I just bought new tires for my truck the week before they walked into my work and laid me off so that took rest of my check. Is there anywhere that will help us in Aitkin Mn. It is hard raising 2 kids at 16 with no help and then your boss of almost 5 years walks in and lays you off with out notice. thanks.

Re: Unemployment assistance
You are in the Houston Texas area? If so, here are programs and agencies in Houston and Harris County. http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/har ... progr.html Houston Texas is one of the largest cities in the entire nation, and a large number of agencies and other organizations exist to help people in your situation. You should never need to live on the streets. There are so many different options and organizations that may be able to aid you.
Call non-profits like the Gulf Coast Community Services Association (GCCSA) which supports Houston families. The phone number is 713 393-4700. They are the local Harris County community action agency.

Is there anyone that can help us?

Re: unemployment not enough
Thank you for the correction and providing the state. The state someone lives in is key as so many programs are local. There are many utility assistance programs in Illinois.
There are resources like the Ameren Hardship Assistance for Residential Customers financial assistance program, which can help with energy bills. Use this link
http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/ill ... gy_bi.html
As far as those other expenses and bills in Illinois, such as rent, mortgage, debts, etc. just explore the primary site and select Illinois from all the drop downs and nav bars.

Re: unemployment not enough
Have you called 211 to locate any local organizations that might be able to help? I'm in TN too (Nashville area) but there are different agencies for different parts os the state. A good place to start is your local Community Action Agency (they can also help with electric bills.) Try the United Way too.
Good luck!
Good luck!
