Re: Assistance from community action agency
To whom this may concern,
Hi. I ran across your email after scrolling along for some tips to help my son with his current situation. He is struggling to keep a roof over his head along with his finance and their one-year-old son who was diagnosed with autism. I’m reaching out in hopes of finding some help for them from community action as he needs help with finances AND bill. They currently are about to lose the water and electricity. If there is anything that can be done to help assist them, please let me know.

Re: Need money for bills and employment help from community action agency
Hi,
Sorry for those struggles. There are self-sufficiency services from a community action agency, and you can find those here. So you are right, they can help you with employment and other needs. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... grams.html
As far as the financial help, what state/county? Until you list that, here is our main link for where to get help in your local area.

I am a 25-year-old single mother of a 6-year-old boy and have had the worst few months of my life from Jan-May. I lost my job in February and have been fighting a case with E.D.D. that I hope to resolve after this month’s appeals hearing.
I received a 30 day notice in March due to my roommate needing to care for his son, and my son's father has been absent in helping me financially and in raising our son. I am reaching out for help from community action with rent cost and my portion of utilities for the next couple months shorter until either I receive back pay from my Unemployment Insurance Claim filed or I get a steady job and childcare for my son while I am working.
I have received as much help from the county as I could and I am thankful, but it is very hard to make ends meet, find employment which I think CA can help me with, make sure my son gets to and from school, and that he is happy and healthy. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated and thank you for your time.

Re: Community action help me get my own place
Try the main community action program link we have on the site. It is here - community action programs for paying bills.
If you are not technically homeless, that will help your case. As it sounds like you are being pro-active. Try the resources on our site.

I applied for rental assistance through Harford Community Action Agency, I am not technically completely homeless, but I am being kicked back and forth between couches and places and situations that I don't want to be around.
I just need help getting my own place so I can sleep in my own bed and make it to work on time, etc, it would be extremely helpful.

I am not sure if all of my information sent through to community action for my place, as there was no way to ensure that the files I had to upload actually uploaded. I just need to be sure that my application is going to be processed.

Here is information on your local community action agency. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... pport.html
We can't tell you your options. Call them for an appointment. But you mention mortgage help, and that is very rare.

Mortgage is 1000.00 month. Car insurance, gas, medical insurance is 276.09/ month. I'm at dead end and can't have husband coming home after surgery without electricity. What are my options for community action grants? I'm behind on mortgage. Waiting on Social Security decision. We are going to be homeless and/ or without power with 3 children as well. I lost my job because my husband was sick and had to have care. Please can you help us? Do not have internet at home.

Duke energy has informed us shut off is October 7. I've tried numerous churches and so forth and now I want an appointment at your community action agency. I've spoken to them at Duke Energy and rep was very rude and offered no help. I informed her that I have doctor Note children with asthma and husband going into hip surgery. He has partial hip October 2 and coming home today. She said they ran a business and no offer if payment plan and asthma didn't exclude you from power shut off and couldn't guarantee on life support power would not be shut off. We live in Franklinton NC and I'm out of options. When can I get an appointment? We only get 1800.00/ month long term disability.

Re: Community Action Appointment
There are community action resources in Texas. Usually a DV survivor gets priority. Try them to get legal aid, housing, grants for paying bills, and more. A community action agency can help you settle into a new home in Texas too.

Good morning
I am a 26 year old female with a two year old daughter.
I am currently employed but barely making enough to keep up with my bills so they're currently behind.
My rent is three months past due. I've been paying what I can but I owe over 2,000. I just need to find some assistant from your community action agency help to get me back to a current balance.

Re: community action
The Georgia Salvation Army gave you $400? That is extremely generous of that charity. You should be very grateful. Maybe you should apply for disability. There are also some non-profits that can help with paying cancer bills or living expenses for people battling this condition. But if you want a voucher for housing, that can take years to get from a community action agency. Here are some other programs that the Salvation Army is Georiga is involved with. http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... nanci.html

Community Action Appointment
I am in desperate need of some help and have tried everything I know to do and can't get anywhere. My Sister-in-Law was telling me about "Community Action" but I had never heard of it. I googled it and found the email. She said her daughter just got hired through the Community Action to sit with someone and she is in WV but I live in Virginia Beach, VA so I don't know if that is around here or not. I will try to make this as short as possible but with as much information as I possibly can.
My husband has had five strokes. The last one was in 2015. The first one paralyzed him on the right side completely. He went through rehab. Each stroke has done more damage to him. He can't really do much for himself except feed himself but at first after the in 2014 he couldn't even do that. He is in Rehab now but coming home Monday.
I work five days a week and go to school two nights a week. I had him in a program called PACE but they did me wrong a couple times and it really hurt me and I lost all the faith and hope in them so withdrew him but now wish I hadn't. I have no one to help me with him. I need someone to stay with him during the days I work and the two nights I go to school and cannot find an agency that will approve those hours and he has Medicaid/Medicare so I thought that they would pay for his care. I am being told they won't.
My sister-in-law told me to contact you all to see if there is anything you can do to help me but getting me a sitter to sit with him during the week. The hours are Monday and Thursday from 7:30 am - 9:30 pm due to working and going to school right after work; Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 7:30 - 5:00. My next quarter at school starts in a couple weeks and I am only going one night this quarter which will be on Thursday so I would only need someone those long hours on Thursday. I have a girlfriend that wasn't to do it the days I go to school and get paid for it but I don't have the money to pay someone. If it could be done for her to do that it would be wonderful.
Can you please help me with this and let me know if you all do this and what I need to do to get it in place by Tuesday? I will try to get someone to watch him Monday after I bring him home from Rehab while I go to school. You can call me over the weekend if need be. I am OK with that.
I will wait to hear from someone.

Re: community action
I am a single disabled mother about to be evicted from my rental home because I cannot afford to pay the rent anymore. I have bipolar disorder and was recently diagnosed with Cancer and currently undergoing chemotherapy. I am very sick. I have tried to contact community action agency and HUD in Georgia for Rental Voucher Assistance and their is a two year waiting list for help and they have a recorded message that say's contact your local church for help. I went to the Salvation army and they gave me a one time donation of $400.00 towards my rent which is $975.00 and they said they did not have any programs to help me. I feel helpless and have no family to turn to. If their is someone who can help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: Community action agency
We doubt a community action agency could even provide that much money anyway. Same with the Salvation Army in San Joaquin. Did you try an installment plan or other resources from your utility company? If you have future money coming a utility company should work with you, provided you make some type of "good faith" payment. Also here are other agencies to try in your area. http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/san ... ance_.html

I have an "appointment" with Salvation Army in the morning and I hope they can help with my bill. My problem is, the bill is $276 and of that $158 is due. I do not get paid until next month and my plan was to pay this bill with my financial aid from college but the next disbursement is not until May or June. I do not have anyone else to go to and have no transportation. I have not had this happen before and feel bad about it. I am somewhat disabled and live alone, I am 42 and am a full-time student. Can you help?

Re: Assistance from community action agency
Yes, call your local community action agency in Woodriver. Sometimes they have some cash, but more than likely they will help you apply for various energy assistance programs, such as LIHEAP or programs offered by Ameren. then you an pay off your old heating bills and in effect get a fresh start, which is all so important. Community action agencies offer a number of free services to those who need help.

Yes, really HEAP does have limited funding and it will run out. Not much more you can do with HEAP in Oregon Find more if it runs out of funds. You can try Salvation Army or Catholic Charities in Eugene, and just keep calling different agencies and charities. Find more Oregon assistance programs for utility bills. Also call your power company for installment plans too. Sometimes families with kids the power companies are more willing to work with customers.
