The bedbugs - so sorry to read that. PHAs for section 8 are mostly local. Did you call your PHA that gave a voucher? We also have a state list of the section 8 programs too so maybe that will help you find a number to dial and look here for local section 8 housing vouchers.

Behind on our section 8 housing
Hello
Senior couples raising their grandkids seeking additional assistance with their rent and electric. We have been struggling over a week to reach our Section 8 workers regarding our situation. Recently we had bedbugs at our residence through no fault of our own other than trying to rid the problem ourselves before letting the complex know we needed assistance to get rid of them. We have since been billed for two other units plus our own at 1,200 a pop. Not to mention the loss of merchandise set aside for sale at a consignment store, a dining room buffet and a 3-piece sectional with storage of other items to boot. Any guidance on dealing with section 8 PHA, our issues or assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Renters Insurance doesn't even cover something like this either.

Re: HUD Section 8 housing voucher
Hi,
Since you are disabled, and have been waiting 3 years + (which many wait lists can go on longer) there are still some programs you can try, such as section 811 for the disabled. Maybe that will help you and learn more on housing resources for disabled people.

Is there anything I can apply for to use at an apartment I find? The HUD office has nothing either. No section 8, no vouchers, no apartment. Available for physically disabled. Suggestions please ? Thank you. I'm not a senior for housing either.

Re: HUD Section 8
Good morning. I am desperately asking for any assistance that would help me to stay in the HUD section 8 rental I have been residing in since December 2016. Since moving in, I was diagnosed with cancer after being in remission for 2 years. This is my 3rd battle of cancer. If you can help me in any way with any of my rent, please let me know.
I am just too weak to move once again, and I fear eviction is close from the HUD rental. This is my girlfriend’s phone number that I am emailing you from. I am somewhat hard to understand because I have a trach in my neck, and I eat through a feeding tube, but my girl can help translate. Have a blessed day.

Re: Section 8 not accepting applications
Hi all,
Yes, section 8 often has long wait lists, depending on location, which political party is in "power" as Republicans in effect want to (and have cut) section 8 budgets, etc. If they are not accepting applications in your area, there are emergency vouchers in some cases. But these are for only certain scenarios, and locate emergency section 8 voucher program details here. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... ucher.html

Re: What can I do as section 8 wait list is 5 years long
Hi Jamie
There is an emergency section 8 voucher program which gives priority to some applicants. But this is generally for people with an extreme event, such as facing abuse. Or there are also emergency programs offered to maybe some frail elderly people or vets, but read more about it here. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... ucher.html

Re: What can I do as section 8 wait list is 5 years long
Hi my name is Jamie. I have been looking for some financial assistance and info on section 8 vouchers. I moved to Pocatello Idaho and and now the family member I moved with is selling their house and me and my son will have no place to go. I've applied to everything including section 8, etc. but the wait list is 5 years long - way longer than I have. I need help with a deposit to get into a certain place I found that does accept housing assistance. I'm a stay at home mom and my son is homeschooled but his tablet broke so now we are having problems with that also. Is there any assistance or anything at all that can help us very soon. I also don't have a car or license here so it's been difficult all the way around. Please help me figure out something to do. Thank you so much.

Re: Low income housing from section 8
Hello,
I am an 84 year old female who is in relatively good health and I take care of myself and seeking housing for my section 8 voucher. But I am on a fixed low income. I am renting a home using section 8 and I am very comfortable here with the neighborhood and neighbors and would like to stay here using the section 8 program, but the landlord is trying to get rid of me. I am finding it very hard to pay, rent & bills on my SS & small pension so I am looking for some kind of financial help. Could you please give me some info on how I can be helped with my housing or section 8 agencies? This is the first time in my life that I have ever asked for help and would greatly appreciate it if you could guide me to the right places that could help me.

What can I do as section 8 wait list is 5 years long
Good morning, I am so stressed that I can’t sleep at night. I am homeless, on a fixed income and don’t have a housing voucher or section 8 voucher to help me. I thank God is not that hot yet, however it’s coming. 211 gave me information that I am now a 2-5 year & a 3-5 year waiting list. Which nothing was helpful and I'm trying to stay in a section 8 house in or closely near the Morristown area so I can help my mom out with my grandson.
His dad dipped off with another female who don’t care too much for my grandson that makes my son keep telling lies. My grandson mom is in jail still for crimes she committed. I can’t do so much because I don’t have a home to go to. He said that he would like to live with me however I don’t see that happening anytime soon. His dad and mom has joint custody and when my grandson mother first lost him and his sister, my son could of been filed for full custody but he didn’t. A long story short I need some help with getting something immediately and can't wait 5 years for section 8 homes I don’t have my SUV anymore to get around so I need to be closer.

Re: Flooded section 8 HCV apartment
I am a volunteer worker for Heart of Hope Asian American Hospice Care in California. We have a client who needs help in Miami-Dade County, Florida due to a flooded section 8 apartment. Mrs. Lam is 88 years and living alone in a townhouse. She only spoke Mandarin and Cantonese with limited English.
One of previous hurricanes damaged her door and windows as well as flooded her home. She could not close them now, so any rain would flood her home from those damaged windows and door.
After paying essential items such as utilities and medicines, only about $180 left monthly for food, she has no money to fix the door and windows.
Hope your organization could get free resources for Mrs. Lam.
Please email or call me if you have questions.
Thank you very much.

Re: HUD Section 8
There are various HUD programs, including section 8 housing choice vouchers. There are also no wait list homes and properties, private townhomes, HUD home buying services and more. Look here for HUD housing with no waiting list.

Re: On the section 8 lottery list
The lottery list for section 8 can be "bypassed" every now and then. There are emergency or expedited vouchers to apply for. The process is different, and each PHA or housing authority will make exceptions. Learn about the section 8 emergency housing voucher program. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... ucher.html

Flooded section 8 HCV apartment
I live in a flooded section 8 HCV housing in Nashville. My car and apartment were flooded.
That’s my car covered in water on the right.
If you look closely at the truck next to me on the left, and behind it near the tree trunk is a metal dumpster that floated from the back parking lot.
I had muddy water and silt in my cup holders and twigs and mud and weeds in my engine. As well as the trunk of the car. I’m unable to describe the smell. I was traumatized by the flood and I don’t think I am totally over it. Both my apartment and car ruined, as well as many other people in Nashville TN.
I had to move from my A- building, along with the occupants of the B-C and D buildings. They were boarded up that morning March 28, 2021, by FEMA and Metro Codes as uninhabitable. All of us lost our vehicles. And many people were displaced to the point of leaving their apartments and moving back to other locations. Some young people moved back with parents.
I stayed with friends from Sunday March 28 2021 Until I moved to the new apartment in July 5th 2021. I definitely wore out my welcome during that stay. Things STILL have not returned to how they were Pre-Flood.
I am on MDHA Section 8 and was reluctantly moved to a different apartment in another building in Nashville.
FEMA paid for my packing bill and moving expenses to that different apartment. It was a combined bill of about $5,500.00. Catholic Charities also helped cover some expenses that FEMA did not, in 2021.
I recently signed a Rent renewal for the 22-23 year with Volunteer Properties at CityVUE@5101. During that visit to the office, my apartment manager broke the news to me that Volunteer Property is phasing out MDHA Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV).
I will have to locate and apartment and downsize and repack the boxes (some still full and taped up from the July 2021 move; I have been very depressed) and move AGAIN

Obviously, I had to buy a new car. Because of my excellent FICA score of 817, I was able to get a new car (12 miles at test drive) and have reasonable monthly payments of $159.00. My other older model KIA Optima was paid for and the combined car and apartment insurance hovered around
$50.00 a month. I’m also an excellent driver. Since having the new KIA RIO Sport, my State Farm insurance bill has increased from about $50.00 a month (car and apartment liability) to about $112.00.
Here’s the thing.
I’m going to have to pay for this next move as soon as I can FIND A PLACE TO MOVE TO

All over Nashville apartment complexes are PHASING OUT HCV’s. My apartment parking lot is full of license plates from out of state persons who have flocked to the new Mecca Nashville to live.
Here I am, local Nashvillian, born here and raised here. Giving Volunteer Property over 10 years of guaranteed rent from the government. While next to me and downstairs and the other side of me are EMPTY APARTMENTS.
There are empty, rentable apartments around the complex that are empty. The first floor of the four flooded buildings only have a skeleton base. 2 x 8’s holding up the second and third floors. There doesn’t seem to be a rush to spend money on finishing out the first floors any time soon.
They are in a Flood Zone.
Remember 2010. That’s about 32 apartments at $1,000.00 a month loss for CityVUE.
But, let’s kick out all the HCV guaranteed checks
The logic is lost on me.
In the meantime, 10’s of thousands of disabled people, poor (fixed SSD incomes; ME) and handicapped persons (ME) are scrambling to find another place to live.
Think about the thousands of apartment complexes (just like this one) and each one previously housed maybe 8-12 HCV people. Single mom with a child or an elderly person or some one with a disability, all of us, now displaced by greed.
MDHA had to go up on the amount needed to cover some of the new outrageous rent prices.
While that is helpful, it does very little to solve the true housing problems, needed all across Nashville, thousands of apartments are needed.
Each month I paid my rent in full, on time. And MDHA supplemented the balance to full market value. I have been working on finding financial assistance from someone somewhere to aid me in my moving. I will have to put it on my credit card and pay on it for at least two years without any help.
My question is, can you help me with my car payment and my State Farm bill for me to free up some money to pay against the moving expenses I will incur in the next 4-5 months ?
Or maybe find some strong people and rent a truck and go that route?
Or a combo of whatever you want to do to help pay off my very unexpected unwarranted expenses.
And I still have Catholic Charities I can solicit OR maybe you work together with them to help me pay this off in a lump sum.
I am already getting Food Stamps. United Health Care is upping the Healthy Food and OTC items through a new program being soon.
I also get an annual allotment from Metro Action Commission, to supplement my NES bills. I didn’t get a FICA score of 812 by skipping out on paying bills or overdrafts or delinquent payments.
I need to keep that score. I’m open to whatever works best for you and your guide lines for help me. hopefully I can manage this chapter of my life without a lot of drama.
It’s been an absolute nightmare to say the least, navigating through these issues by myself, on $814.00 a month. I have paperwork for all this.
Case managers just give me a list and I have been the one making the calls and getting turned down over and over. Also, feeling re-traumatized each time I have to tell this story.
My last hope is a place nearby called Whispering Oaks on Harding Place.
I still have not been okayed to fill out an application. I have my $35.00 application fee as a money order for them.
There are a few one bed MDHA approved apartments that will open up over the next few months. And I don’t know how many other people will be applying for them.
I can only HOPE that my credentials will carry me over the line. I’m hoping that this will be a one time expense ($35.00)
Right now, I’m just needing some help for moving. And a place secured FOR ME, before June ‘23.
Otherwise I am not sure what happens next. If you have anything in that department that could help, PLEASE LET ME KNOW
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks again for your time.
With all sincerity

Re: Lease that takes section 8
Try contacting one of the public housing authorities (PHAs) in Illinois. They often have homes and apartments, including for seniors. They will be section 8 approved. But there may be a waiting list. Also look into emergency section 8 housing in IL.

I was not able to re-apply in April because of an accident and hospitalization. I have contacted at least a dozen agencies in Lake County, but none are giving out any more funding for 2022.
Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth's office providing me with some leads on assistance, but so far, all have panned out. Currently, I am one month behind, owing $867.00 I am a resident in the senior residence Lake Villa, Illinois 60046 and I need a new, section 8 friendly home and lease.

Re: Lease that takes section 8
There are many public housing authorities in California. These PHAs are where section 8 HUD vouchers and income subsidized homes come from. Did you look into these agencies April? If not, here are more details. Find California housing assistance from Section 8.
Re: Lease that takes section 8
Hi, my name is April and I'm in desperate need of help. I'm a single mother, on section 8 and need to be find landlord that will sign a lease. I and about to be homeless come November 3, 2022. I live in Portola, CA in Plumas County. Rentals are extremely hard to come by around here and I've been searching for the last 2 months for a place to live for my 11 year old daughter and me. The owner of the house I'm in now is selling the house and gave me a 60 day termination notice. I'm needing help with a security deposit for a new place as well as signing a lease on a section 8 home.
I found a place yesterday and the security deposit is $1700.00 which I can't possibly afford. Do you know of any programs in Plumas County that can help me with this ASAP? I'm so desperate that I'm begging for help. I live in an area where it gets really cold and snows and I would prefer not to have to be living in my vehicle. I would greatly appreciate any help that you may be able to give me.

On the section 8 lottery list
Hello, my name is Kay and I’m reaching out to you for help for my sister who is on section 8 lottery list. She applied for the section 8 lottery and is still waiting. She got approved last year and then once she got approved, they denied her. Anyway, with Coronavirus she has faced many hardships financially. She currently is in the eviction process, and she has 3 children. 15 14 and 1 year old. Without shelter she won't be able to work find work and even begin to get back on her feet. It's not safe for her and 3 kids to be on the street with the pandemic in such a high risk. I’m not sure if this will help but I'm asking if there is anything you can do to help this family it would be Forever appreciated and grateful. She is a single mother who gets no help and has never asked for help and in this time, she is at desperate need. She is a very responsible person, and she is the best mother to her kids I wouldn't recommend anybody else.
Her name is Kimberly and lottery number for DHS housing is 600545 please if there is anything you can do it would mean the world to me. Her kids didn't have a Christmas and having a home would be the best Christmas gift anybody could ask for. I'm just not sure what will happen once she is out of her home, and I really think she needs the help and resources.
Thank you for your time and I hope you can help me or lead me. in the right direction to help this family dodge the risk of homelessness and the risk of Covid-19.
