Elderly mom needs heating oil

Post by Betty »

Hi,
I just moved into a place in Hagerstown, MD. She is on Social Security and I'm on disability and SSI that is the money
help we receive, we also are getting help with rent by way of Section 8 housing.
I called a oil company to get heating oil into the house before winter to especially keep
my elderly mom warm, and their budget was $198.00 a month that is way more then we can
pay. My mom gets $1030.00 and I get $878.00 a month. So we after paying other things are
not able to pay that price.
I was looking on the website but there are so many places to get help I have no idea where
to start is there anyway you can point me in the right direction so I can help with getting oil into
the home.
I appreciate your help in this matter
Thank you.

Re: Heating oil tank is empty

Post by Partenner »

Sir, I am a 65 year old man receiving social security in the amount of 461.00 that makes it impossible to sustain the winter heating season in Northern New York State. I heat my home primarily with wood that is expensive and extremely labor intensive.

I have 2 pieces of rental property one free and clear and the other mortgaged. I also have a significant mortgage on my home. To say the least I struggle. I am currently behind in my property taxes and need assistance in paying for heating propane in my commercial building. This property has one rental tenant that does not come close to covering expense on the property. I can not afford fire insurance or proper liability coverage on this property.

Last year I struggled to replace the aged out boiler thinking that my cost would be decreased and they have not. It cost nearly 5000.00 last year and I just cannot pay that this year and have already spent 1500.00. Please tell me where to go to get some relief from the exorbitant cost of propane heating gas. Very troubled,

Hello,

I am contacting your agency in hope that you will be able to provide me with assistance in heating my home this winter. I am a single African American mother with two young men in college whom I am assisting with college expenses.

The heating resource for my home is Propane Gas provided by a company name Couch Oil here in Durham NC. My heating expense during the year usually cost anywhere from $950 - $1150. Today I am totally out of gas and I am told by Couch Oil I will have to pay a $65.00 charge for them to check the pressure.

Unfortunately, at this time I just do not have the money to pay for this service that my household need so badly. With all of the severe cold weather we are having, if I don’t make a purchase soon my hot water tank will shutdown. That would be disastrous for the home.

I would really appreciate any assistance your organization can provide for me and my family at this time.

Thank you in advance,
ohnathan

I live in Pleasantville, NY. My husband lost his job, and we are having financial difficulties. Can you please send information on where to go to apply for assistance for paying for our home heating oil, and for our electric bill. We own our home, and have a mortgage to pay. We have four people living in our home. Can you help?

Have you tried LIHEAP in Indiana yet? Can't tell from your email below. There is a crisis component in which many people use to get heating fuel, and the crisis portion of it provides the aid very quickly. We are surprised the Trustee did not recommend that for you either, as they will usually require it. Anyhow, find more details on Indiana Energy Assistance EAP program.

My wife and I are in need of help with heating bills or a tank full of oil. I lost my job in June of 2012 and after that I got very sick. I am currently getting medical help though the VA Hospital in St Louis. It is a slow process to get medical help and my wife has been on disability for the past 4 years we have worked all our lives and I am 58 and have never collected unemployment in my life. Now Congress has taken so far 2 of my unemployment check for the deficit. I do not like to beg for help but I am now. I have always been the one putting money every year to charities like St Jude. Any help would be a blessing.

I am a 55 year old woman taking care of my 89 year old mother who is in her second stage of Alzheimer among other things. Our water and power was shut of months ago. I applied for HEAP and they are paying 336.00 toward it and I have put every dime I can spare toward it that’s not going to rent . Unfortunately the bill will still be around 1700 after HEAP pays the 336.00. It will take way to long to pay thus off and have been without power and water for two months. Please help any assistance is welcome.

I am completely out of oil. I have three small children, 6 year old son, 4 year old son & 2 year old daughter. My unemployment just ran out, my fiancé is working, but we just don't have money. Between rent, bills, gas & other necessities, we are barely getting by. We went from homeless to having a home again. I need oil for clean clothes, showers, baths etc. Please help.

I am almost out of oil. I do not qualify for LIHEAP as my college student daughter earns minimum wage working 16 hours a week which put me over the limit. I recently began receiving Social Security. This month it had a $300 deduction for Medicare Part B for three months premiums. I am behind in all my bills including the mortgage. I can't pay everything at once. My oil company (Ace Robbins) will not deliver oil unless I pay the delinquency which is now at about $1200. I have applied for the assistance program that gives you 100 free gallons of oil but this takes several weeks to be approved. Is there anything you can suggest to help me?

We have been trying to get a hold of Joe's Oil (the free heating oil program) for three days now and getting nowhere. My wife and I are on Social Security but make just over the poverty level. We are down to 3/4 of tank of and the oil companies won't deliver any less than 150 Gal. It's going to cost over $800.00 to fill up and all we have is $200.00. We are asking for a one time fill up or half a tank. We live in Preston Connecticut.

I need some information because I am in a bind. I am 56 years old and my 78 year old mom and disabled brother live with me. My mom gets Social Security and my brother is on SSI. They don't have a lot of money so I pay the brunt of the bills. We are in a bind right now. I thought I had enough oil to last until payday but I ran out yesterday. We are currently using my oven to keep warm but I am afraid the pipes will burst. I can rough it but I am afraid for my mom who is frail and sickly. Are there any programs that would lend me enough money to purchase some heating oil and I will pay the money back ASAP. I am quite desperate right now. I do the best I can but money is tight and because I paid my bills so I don't have any extra cash.

We don't have the applications online. You need to call the agencies and programs we have listed in order to apply. Many provide heating assistance based on number of family members, so if you do have 7 members then your income can be higher than it otherwise would be. The Maine programs are here, including those for Portland. More Cumberland County assistance programs.

Good Morning: I don't know where to begin. Here it goes I will try to make it short and to the point. This is all new to me. I have never had to ask for help before but my husband and I are in a position where we have to. He lost his job about 18 months ago as a high school English teacher. Since then he has been subbing and we have been able to get by as I work as well. (We have 3 children as well). We were doing ok up until December when the school he was subbing at had 18 days off for Christmas. We have one problem we need to be able to get just one delivery of oil just to get us over this hump. As of right now we are almost empty. We have tried LHEAP but we were denied we make just over the limit. I don't know where else to turn too. If you can't help believe me I understand but if you know where I can turn to for any advice or information that would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance for any help or assistance you could be would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I am writing to you to see if my husband and I would be eligible for Assistance with paying our oil bills this winter. We both work, but have many bills that we pay every month. We pay out thousands between our mortgage, house insurance, car insurance, credit card bills, NY state tax, Federal tax, cable, phone, home equity loan, electric, water, gas, food and miscellaneous things such as car repairs, home up-keep, vet bills, and whatever else comes along unexpectedly. I am asking for assistance. Our oil bill usually runs about $375.00 per month between November and March. If there is any way to get a little relief we would be very grateful. We live in Suffolk County in New York.

Hello. I am writing because I am in serious need of some assistance. I have been on disability for approximately 6 years now due to MS. I do get social security and things of that nature... but I do my best to try to not go crazy and just keep taking things from people. I try to provide for my family the best I can. This year however... I have a newborn with the love of my life, terry. She is a technician at a local place that deals with children with developmental issues. She however is on maternity leave and not able to collect any funds. She has 2 children, one is 5 years old and the other is three. And 5 years from a previous relationship... and then we have the one together who is now 3 1/2 weeks old. We are very low on oil and have no idea how we will heat are home this winter. I tried the joe4oil, but they are no longer accepting appointments. Could you please help me find a way to heat our home this year? I would greatly appreciate it. I will find a way to pay back when possible in whatever way I can. Thank you for reading. This and I do hope you know something that can help.

I'm trying to find out if my mother is eligible to receive heating oil assistance this winter. I'm not sure what information you require but would appreciate some guidance as to how to proceed. She lives in Rhode Island and is 84 years old. Thank you for any information you can provide.
