Yes, I am emailing you guys because I was online trying to find help for me and my son. I live in the state of Michigan and the city of Belleville.48111. I have recently lost my income about a week ago, my disability was cut off without any notice and desperate and I know people that crowdfunding before. I have called a few places to see about getting help with my rent one time and no one is willing to help me out unless I have an eviction notice. So now I want to crowdfund I guess.
I don't want things to get that bad before I get help raising money from GoFund me or some other place. I'm just down on my luck right now and need help to pay my rent before me and my kid get kicked out of our house can you please help me? Dewayne

Hi Jacquelyn
We will answer your question in a couple ways. We have tips and advice on crowdfunding here. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... bills.html

For general "mentoring" and financial advice, to help you get back on track, try our financial literacy blog. There are many resources listed there that may help you. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/Fin ... eracyhelp/

Help with crowdfunding for all my bills

Post by Daya knight »

Hello,
My name is Jacquelyn and I reaching out to ask for help with crowdfunding, and financial advice and mentorship. I am currently two months behind on rent equating to $3200. I have communicated with my landlord and made partial payment but I will not be able to make a payment for two weeks - and that payment will not cover the full amount I owe. Full disclosure: I have been given a 60 day notice to pay or vacate.
I have been searching for an MFTEs or “low incoming” housing, but I am having a hard time getting approved for a suitable lease in my price range. I either don’t meet income requirements or my income is too high. My Mother is unable to co-sign a lease or loan for me because of poor credit conditions and rental history and my father has an even worse credit history. This is one reason I am trying to now crowdfund. I do feel fortunate that my mom has found a suitable living situation in Dallas, but it’s a 55+ community so I am unable to move in with her – furthermore they do not allow dogs.
My landlord is going to raise the monthly rent on my 1bd rm unit from $1650 to $2200 and price me out after next month. I need funds to catch up on rent, as well as relocate. I also need to consolidate debt and negotiate lower payments for a very high interest line of credit I got in 2023 to help support mom.
I’ve been struggling on my own for a while and I don’t know what to do – I have set up a GiveSendGo Account for crowdfunding.
but I know that direct charity will not repair my credit score, rental history, or help me find affordable housing by October 1st.
I am currently employed but my wages are not enough to cover my cable/internet, cell phone, water and electric bills, nourishment, transportation and rent each month in addition to back rent. For the past two years I was able to supplement my primary income with a second job but I was laid off in March of this year due to business closure. Also in March, my landlord raised my rent by $150 per month. Since losing my second income I have not been able to pay rent consistently on time and it is affecting my rental history and preventing me from being accepted to low income and/or less expensive buildings because. I now have a negative mark for late payment in rental history in the last three months. I am currently waitlisted for Rental Assistance with several groups in my area including United Way of Dallas County and Dallas Housing Authority. The threat of eviction is severely stressing me out. I am desperate to keep myself and my dog from homelessness and hoping mentor about crowdfunding may be an option.
I work remotely. Without a home or reliable internet access I cannot continue to work at my job where I have been for 5 years. I also need to negotiate with Optum HR for a higher salary. I was paid $2 more during 2020 for “hazard” pay but they took it back and despite two years of positive employment reviews my raises have not equated to my previous salary, I’m still taking at $1.40 less than I was in 2020 working for the same organization. Earlier this year I had to withdraw funds from my 401K to help make ends meet and now I am not eligible for another draw until 2025 due to the terms set by my employer.
Please let me know if you are able refer me to sources or systems that can aid me with financial advice, rental assistance for back rent, move-in deposits, eviction prevention plans/tenant advocacy/advice on what to say to my landlord, affordable housing groups that give individual consideration for bad credit/rental history and food assistance – I haven’t traditionally relied on anyone since my last legal guardian (my grandmother) passed but I see I need community and kindness now more than ever – pray for me and keep in touch. Feel free to reach day or night via email or cell phone.
