Does SNAP food stamps really start for emergencies?

I’m trying to get help. I didn’t even know I could get help besides food stamps and did not know they start that quickly. They are cutting my phone and lights off next week so my fridge and the food will spoil. I have no money and I tried reaching the number listed for them but out of service and quad area told me they have no funds. I heard they tell everybody that. If somebody can just get back in touch with me I’d appreciate it as once my power is cut and food goes back I will need that food stamp card right away. Single mom of 2. Thank you Melissa

If you are in the process already, but your circumstances changed due to the loss of the job, then call the agency. Tell them. Tell the place you applied at so you can request the emergency benefits. But here are the details on SNAP applications by state.

I'm in the process of looking for SSD and getting food stamps. I had to quit my job because I couldn't handle the work anymore due to my mental illnesses! I have teen children living with me that help pay rent and buy groceries but they also have mental illnesses. I'm also in the need of unemployment insurance, help getting into the emergency SNAP food stamp program and enrolled in an online college for a bachelor's degree. I can explain more when necessary but this is an emergency which I think SNAP offers to people like me. Please help

Yes, SNAP food stamps (or your local version) will have an expedited - emergency application process. As no matter what state you are in, the federal government mandates that some people can apply for an EBT card for a crisis. Find the phone numbers, by state, for the emergency SNAP here.

My name is Kimberly, I am inquiring about getting some emergency assistance for my groceries from food stamps. I was recently displaced from my residence in Harris county. I came to stay with family in Rockport, but was turned away once I arrived. I have a job lined up in Alabama that starts the 27th of this month, but have no where to stay until then. I am currently at ONO hotel in Rockport, however do not have the money to continue to eat or buy food, so I hope the emergency SNAP will start now. If there is anyone that can help I would be happy to repay the amount once I am in Alabama working.

My name is Courtney. I was trying to find information on how to sign up for help with food this year from SNAP unless I am too late. My husband and I have 3 children with another baby girl coming the middle of December, so we need SNAP food stamps to start ASAP. We are down to one income as I am diabetic and have health issues as well as being pregnant, working was just not an option anymore for me.
