Having no idea how to go about helping someone with a mental illness is difficult. Here is the situation. This person is struggling with depression, which makes it difficult to keep things going for him. He also had a nervous breakdown several weeks ago. He continues to fall further and further behind because of his low paying job. He has technical skills (computer based like A+ certs and some others) but is in such a bad place that he cannot get through an interview even when he gets them. My husband and I are both unemployed. I was a teacher until last year when I suffered a nervous breakdown. My husband has been doing contract work, so now we find ourselves both unemployed. He is 60 and I am 58. Because of our age and specific skills, we have had difficulty securing jobs. We do not qualify for social security. We have gone through savings, unemployment and even a small inheritance after my nervous breakdown. We have ZERO income coming in at this point.
