Help with water and electric bills
Re: Help with water and electric bills
I have been trying to find the help that has funds to get my electric turned back on in Denver Colorado. We made payments and they still shut us off. We tried to get them to work with us but were told they don't do that and it says they do a payment help on there website. We have 4 kids all under five who are all sick and one has pneumonia. Please my husband and I are trying everything is there help somewhere out there?

Re: Seeking help for power and water bills
Water bills are always harder to get help with...just not as many programs. That being said, call around to your Maricopa and El Mirage community action agency, non-profits,or local charities. A listing of Maricopa assistance programs can be found here. Your credit card company needs to protect you by law. You cant be responsibile for illegal charges. All consumers are protected from that by federal law.

Re: Seeking help for power and water bills
Call your local utility company and ask them for financial aid programs and other support. Maybe have disconnection prevention programs and services. In addition, look into local charities and non-profits in Nassasu County and Fernandina Beach. When you called the Northeast Florida Community Action Agency, Inc. for LIHEAP that was a good move. Also try calling other Nassau County assistance programs for help. Another good one, that may have assistance, is Nassau FL Salvation Army at (904) 301-4875. Call back like the lady said too. Did you do that? What happened?

I looked up a program called LIHEAP however, when I called the agency that was listed I was told that I had to call back on Friday so, I could work on getting an appointment scheduled for the following week. However, I may lose my power before then so, I am sure that with the heat we are having right now I will be in the hospital. Are there any other places I may be able to look? I have always worked and paid my bills on time and even donated money in the past to help others in need. I just don't know where to turn because I've never been in a situation such as this. Could someone please, help turn me in the correct direction? The place that I called I saw online for a prgram called LIHEAP and the people to call was the Northeast Florida Community Action Agency, Inc. What I don't understand is why I must wait for a week before I can set an appointment that may end up being another week of waiting for appointment. The lady who answered the phone said to call back on Friday afternoon to attempt to schedule an appointment within the next 2 weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please, I'd really appreciate hearing them!

Re: Help with water and electric bills
Many electric companies, including those in North Carolina, offer financial assistance programs and/or cash grants, in particular for families with medical conditions. It is great that you are looking for that second job too, as that may make you help make ends meet. So find North Carolina electric bill assistance programs and resources that you can turn to for aid and other forms of support. Call the agencies. Depending on where you live in NC, there are programs like Piedmont Natural Gas's Share the Warmth assistance program.

He does not get any assistance even after being hospitalized for a short period of time. I really need help asap. Please let me know where I need to go for help and what do I need to do.

Re: Help with water and electric bills
Water bills tend to be more difficult to get help with, but try the H2O assistance program for customers in West Coast. It is on the primary site. As far as those electric bills, it is incredible in that hundreds of thousands of California families every year have their power turned off. Not right in my opinion. But here are some options and resources for you. Southern California Gas Company offers a gas assistance fund (phone 1-800-427-2200. Also ask about the state wide California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program. Call your utility company and reference it.

Re: Help with electric and water bill
Here are several places to call in Duluth and Gwinnet County. While not sure about water bill, usually gas and energy bills you can get help with.
You can try calling organizations like Norcross Cooperative Ministry phone number (770) 263-8268) as well as (770) 564 1702. There tend to be many churches in that area as well, especially if you are a christian family.

Re: Help with electric and water bill
Looks like you registered from Licking County Ohio. Is that correct? Water bills are a little more difficult to get help with. Maybe use your SSI check to pay it. But some other options you have at your disposal in that part of Ohio include LEADS Community Action Agency as well as the Newark Ohio Salvation Army. Phone 740-345-8120. Both of them can provide advice and maybe limited cash. If you are in government housing may government aid can help pay water bills?

Here is a listing of programs for your area AND COUNTY IN GEORGIA. Try places like the Decatur Area Emergency Assistance Ministry/DEAM (404) 373-2300. or the Salvation Army - DeKalb County Service Unit (404) 486-2714.
Also, call more churches in your area. That is always a good idea.

Re: Help with water and electric bills
I'm actually inquiring information for my friend, who lives in Hawaii. He has been struggling with bills since his wife left him and his 5 kids. This month's water and electric bill was extra high and he doesn't know what to do. He's a school teacher raising all his children on his own with only one income now. Is there any assistance that would help him

Re: Help with electric and water bill
While it is a small town, there are numerous agencies and assistance programs for you that you can contact. They include the ones listed on the site below (see link). Or to summarize some may be the community action agency Berkeley/Dorchester Counties Economic Development Corporation (843) 761-8244 or you can also dial Tricounty Family Ministries at 747-1788. I am almost certain that the community action agency runs the LIHEAP program in Berkeley, but if not they should be able to redirect you. Not sure why so difficult to get that info.

I had a room mate who decided that his illicet drugs were more important than paying the rent and utilities to me. He owes me $400 but I will never see it he is on disability too and no clue where he is now to collect.
I have re-rented his room and the room mate is awesome pays his bills on time, but I have been trying to catch up the rent, the electric etc since I evicted the last room mate. I am embaressed to tell the new room mate I am behind on the bills.
I cannot find where to apply for Liheap here, called Salvation Army about my electric bill which is about to be shut off and they told me it had to be paid current with no past due before they could help me, never in my life have I heard such a thing about paying it current to get help, I need help because I am past-due and facing disconnection. I cannot work due to my medical issues and I am lost as to where to get help.
Where in the world do I go been trying for 4 months now and get the run around of never heard of Liheap, you need to call Salvation Army you need to call united Way etc etc its a viscious circle I am in and for the first time in my life I am afraid I am going to be homeless ans I cant do anything more, boyfriend cannot help he is unable to work and get disability.
Please help me I cant take any loans out I already did a title loan to catch up the rent and that is strapping me. I have the other room up for rent but no one wants to live this far out from Charleston even for a cheap rent
Thanks,
Christine

Re: Help with water and electric bills
Here are some utility and heating bill programs in Franklin County - Westerville Ohio.
Try calling the Impact Community Action at 614.252.2799. They run a variety of assistance programs and help people become self-sufficient. They can help people deal with debt, energy bills, mortgage help, and disconnections.
Another good option would be the St. Stephen's Community House, and there phone number is 614-294-6347. They have some crisis assistance and other aid programs for low income and others in the area.
