Re: New York City organizations
My name is Steven, I'm looking for assistance to help with my electric and gas bills. Can you forward this to the correct department in the city?
We have 4 kids and ourselves I was working but out for 4 weeks until foot heals. My electric keeps giving notice of being shut of plus I have mortgage on my old home in the Bronx and other Bill's as well. If I could get a grant for electric and gas I know once disability kicks in I can get on track. I owe electric 540 to stay on of balance 1500. I'm just trying to wrap my hand around this.
Please email correspondence and any forms I need to fill out.
Thanks again.

Re: New York City organizations
Hi,
I would like to request for information on how we can ask for assistance to pay our bills and rent as we are affected by the inflation and cost of living here. I am a family living here in New York City and we are having a difficulty to meet both ends because of the situation.
Your help and assistance will be much appreciated. Thanks.

We will send a few resources. Here is a list of programs for all of New York City, with financial help and government as well as charity organizations listed. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... tance.html
And since you mentioned housing and rent due, specifically for Queens, try this for rent help. As these organizations may offer their temporary help you need. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... tance.html

I'm searching for any information or organization I can find in New York City to help with temporary emergency assistance for rent, electric bill, and/or car insurance bill before I am discontinued.
I recently had an emergency surgery, was then admitted to the Sinai hospital because of complications, and then went through another surgery two weeks after. My expected summer temp contract job was abruptly discontinued and I can't start back to my full-time job until September 23rd. I'm currently STILL looking for summer employment in NYC but keep getting refusals because they don't want to train and pay for pre-employment costs for a 7 week employee.
I have a daughter who is disabled and lives with me in Queens, and I'm trying to stay current with my own weekly therapy appointments for PTSD. But I haven't been able to for the last two weeks because I can't pay the co-pay costs. My medical bills are now coming in and piling up, and in danger of utilities being shut off very soon - and I have no way to pay rent in a few weeks. Without insurance by the 15th we can't get to Drs. and interviews.
I live in Queens New York. Hoping and praying for any assistance from any organization until September when my paychecks will start up once again. The stress and anxiety is getting overwhelming. Thank you so much for any possibilities,

Re: New York City organizations
We do have several resources listed for NYC region, for housing, food, and more. In addition, several nation programs that you can use in addition to SNAP. Find details here, at assistance programs in NYC.

I recently applied for cash assistance (a requirement for the shelter/ hotel in Manhattan). The case worker who processed my cash assistance application at my local HRA center informed me that I would receive @ $79 deposit before 9pm that night and moving forward $97.00 bi-weekly. I did receive the initial $79... but at the request of my case worker, I requested a budget letter, only to be told that my monthly cash assistance will be $22.50 per 2 weeks / $45.00 per month. I honestly do not know what to say upon learning of this discrepancy in what was initially communicated to me.
I am a struggling NY city person trying to get back on my feet and find New York City Organizations while evading the possible new wave of this pandemic.

Re: New York City organizations
There are housing court resources in New York City. they are listed here.
https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... stanc.html
While your needs are diverse, maybe a social worker or the court system can direct you to the assistance programs you need for car, allergy pen, etc.

My youngest baby has to go see a specialist for her Allergies due to we dont know what she's allergic to and too young to be given the epic pen for allergies. Her Allergies are life threatening so I also need my car for that in case something were to happen as the appointments are outside of New York City. I'd have less than ten minutes to get her to the ER or she may die.

Re: New York City Assistance
Hello!
I wanted to reach out because I've had a strange experience in the last few months and I'm not exactly sure how to navigate moving forward in order to get assistance in New York City.
Last year I worked remotely for a company based in CA. I was fired, and mainly lived at home with parents in CT while I applied to other jobs. I temporarily worked for the Census in New York City where I rented an apartment for a short time. Then right before Covid I had two part time jobs in NYC. Now both of those are gone. I left my apartment in NY and came back to CT where I own a small business that doesn't make very much money. I am staying on couches at the moment, avoiding going to a homeless shelter. Unemployment in NYC rejected me saying I didn't earn enough while I was there. I tried applying in CT even though I was told doing another claim in another state can lead to trouble - I just don't have another option.
I am applying to jobs nonstop in New York City and the tri county region, but I just don't really know what to do since I haven't been able to get unemployment, I've been living off my credit card and the generosity of friends. Any guidance for New York City assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I am a college graduate, and I am sure I will get a new job eventually, but it has been borderline impossible during all of this and I don't know what to do.

Re: New York City organizations
Did you try a New York City church. They often have programs for the homeless. Maybe the church can give you food and shelter, both for you and your children.

I’m a single parent of 2 girls without income. We have been struggling and my children are suffering. We were evicted from our home. Now, with a car that hardly runs. I’m die trying to find us a home. We sleep in our car at the church parking lot. Get a little bit of food from the pantry. There is no help for homeless as I was told and turned away. Only help will be provided if we get into an apartment or rental. But with an eviction. I can't do much. My daughter just got a job. Indeed, it’s hard for us because in the early morning I have to drop off my youngest at school, then take my other daughter to work. Then find a place to spend my time doing research to see what I can apply for. Then off to pick up my youngest and then my other daughter from work. Afterwards, we seek food wherever it's available in New York City and find a safe place to park our car and sleep. Shelter only let us stay 1 or a few nights at most. We asked for gas cards from local churches and NYC organizations but that's ran out. We found a nice place for rent. Private owner. No credit check or income requirements. Plus, I have an eviction so that's that! I have been seeking assistance with deposit and rent. I have a job offer but I cannot work because we have no home and with dropping off and picking up my 2 kids. That's a whole day already. Please if there's anything you can help us with. We greatly appreciated it. I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you and God blessed

New York City organizations
I need help with rent and was hoping to get a response from your New York City organization. I am an intern and I just moved to NYC a few months ago. Before moving, my mother screwed me over and slowly took everything from me: cash and the title to my apartment as well. I have been going to the hospital back and forth in the past 2 months and missing a lot of my training. I barely have enough with the stipend I receive and missing training/not getting paid plus getting sick just made me super broke to the point that I only have about 10 bucks to my name. I have debts from friends who’ve been helping and medical bills to pay as well as rent and I am so lost and on the verge of giving up as I do not know what to do anymore. My mother doesn’t care and gives me false promises every day of giving me back what is mine and I honestly don’t think she will ever give anything back.
If I could get help with rent in New York City at least tile I slowly get back on my feet, I would forever be grateful. I just don’t know what else to do right now as I am all alone here in NY as well.
Well, I am hoping to receive a response. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Regards,

Need help with basic needs. Rent, propane, gas, bills and food. Husband is unemployed in New York City and has worked for no pay, his boss went bankrupt and did not pay him. I work for HIS and client died, so I lost a income also. Christmas is coming have no money for presents for 5 kids. Anything would help and if not - God will provide somehow. Thank you.

Re: New York City Assistance
It sound like that salary, if not guaranteed to you at 40 hours per week, may make it difficult to pay the rent in expensive New York City. Maybe look into government subsidized housing or a roommate. We do have many other agencies listed that may offer some short term financial support or advice as well. More on agencies to pay rent in New York City.

To whom it may concern
I am getting paid 16.50 a hour and my rent reaches $ 1,350 a month sometimes. I am not promised 40 hours and am behind on rent and by the way it looks is as if I really do need help if not I will be losing my apartment. I have a son and daughter and it would be devastating losing our home. I would like to see if you guys can help in any way. I live in the Bronx in the state of new York.
Thanks!

Re: New York City Assistance
We have extensive information on financial assistance programs in New York City. The region does really try to prevent homelessness, especially of children. So you have that going for you. While they have cut back on some of ther programs recently, the fact is that NYC still does offer aid to women, children, and those facing eviction. Several legal firms are available too. Read New York City assistance.

Re: New York City Assistance
I recently got physical custody of my son and my second job I was working I had to let go because I didn't have a night babysitter. It also took time away from me and my son working both jobs. His mom doesn't care for him the way I do or we would have joint physical custody. Me and my older sister is all he have but everyone has their problems and these are some of mine, $700 a month rent, $75 maybe more water bill, $125 or more light bill, $43 gas bill, also $230 a week daycare. Sometimes I feel like giving up but I can't because I say my son didn't ask for this, or to be born.
