Chase settlement offer only after mentioning bankruptcy
I live in California, and Chase put my account into their pre‑litigation department. They denied me any settlement or hardship program. I kept calling, and eventually they extended the pre‑litigation period by about 15 days, giving me a little more time — but I still couldn’t make payments.
As the extended period was about to expire, I told them I might have to explore filing for bankruptcy. Two days later, Chase came back with a settlement offer: 25% on a $20,000 balance. In this case, the key word that finally moved things was “bankruptcy.”

I’m a low‑income Chase customer with multiple credit cards — some with Chase, some with other banks. My family had several high‑balance cards, and two of them were with Chase. One had an interest rate of 28% because I had missed a payment, and the other was at 11%.
I called Chase and explained that we were struggling to keep up with our bills. After several calls over a few weeks, they finally offered me a hardship program. They said they could lower the 28% interest rate down to 6%, but I would have to close the account. Considering how high the rate was, it wasn’t a bad deal at all.

Single parent receiving help through Chase’s hardship unit

Post by P Jackson »

As a single mom struggling with debt, I called Chase to ask for help. The representative explained that Chase has a proactive solutions unit specifically trained to assist customers facing financial hardship. They told me they could restructure my credit card debt, reduce my interest rate, offer a debt‑management plan, extend repayment terms anywhere from nine to sixty months, and even waive late fees or over‑limit fees depending on my situation.
They emphasized that they help customers with both small and large balances, and that the key factors were my financial circumstances and my willingness and ability to stick to the restructured terms. It was reassuring to know they had an actual system in place for people like me.

Got help from Chase only after using the word “hardship”

Post by BahBah »

I called Chase because I couldn’t afford my new, higher monthly payment. The first representative told me they couldn’t help and that the card agreement allowed them to change the terms whenever they wanted. I kept trying and asked twice to speak with a supervisor about forbearance or any assistance programs, but both times I was told nothing existed. I even mentioned bankruptcy, and it didn’t make a difference.
I kept pushing and asked for the loss‑prevention department, but the rep said it didn’t exist. Eventually, out of frustration, I said I was “facing a hardship.” That one word finally triggered something. I was transferred to another Chase representative who asked for some information and then made me a surprising offer: they would close my credit card account but enroll me in the Chase hardship program, dropping my interest rate to 2% and giving me five years to pay off the balance.

Hi,
Since you are in Cabell County, which has limited resource and seems to have zero non-profit credit counseling agencies, you probably need a phone consultation. As credit counseling can help you with Chase bills and others too, as listed here on the free credit counseling services from national non-profits.

Good Morning,
My name is Paula I need help paying a debt to chase that is over 20% interest! I found this email that – I have no idea If it is legit or not
Real Life – Day to Day living is not easy!
How to get through a struggle:
Sharing is caring!
When you share your problem and you are honest about it , you will be surprised how many other people are in the exact same boat as you.
When everyone shares their struggle - all of a sudden you have multiple solutions to one problem!
The best part of sharing is, you are no longer alone and isolated.
I am a single parent; I work three jobs and there are days I cannot afford food and definitely can’t pay a 8,000 credit card bill to Chase.
True Story, that is pretty sad right ! One parent household making 26.00 hr is two parents making 13.00 – not a lot right!
The Government doesn’t see it like that, as a single parent family of 2 - 26HR I am 70-80% poverty level and not qualified for any assistance.
Yet a family of 3 making 13.00 hr. x 2 they are eligible – How the government doesn’t see that whether you are one parent or two – the rent is the same, the utilities are the same as a family of two or three
When housing tripled and then Chase interest went to over 20% as I missed one credit card payment 6 months ago, my income didn’t triple! Yet I am held responsible to step up and pay and for me I had to figure out a way how to – I share what I have learned which is my only way of giving back
I spend my spare time on Mass Class action rebates! This site is real money, this is for class action lawsuits that the public is unaware of and it is real cash waiting to be claimed
I would write things about real life, real problems and real solutions- the only one coming to help you is you( yourself)!

Hello: I hope someone will be able to help us in finding financial assistance with paying recent medical bills which are on my Chase Credit Card and catching up with other outstanding bills and debts.
I'm a full-time caregiver for my husband who was diagnosed with Stage III colorectal cancer in February and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Fortunately, he has Medicaid and another insurance that have paid for his hospital stay and medication. However, while focusing on his medical treatment our other bills like car payments, specialists bills, and credit card payments have piled up, including a lot of debt to Chase credit card.
I'm currently looking for weekend part time work that won't conflict with his doctor appointments and chemotherapy during the week. My husband has also returned to part time work recently on a trial basis to help him return to some normalcy and help towards bills.
Do you have any recommendations or know of organizations that could offer us any assistance or guidance? We live in Pennsylvania.
Thanks so much for your consideration in this matter.

Your best option may be the Chase credit card bill hardship program. Maybe it will help with consolidation or other debts from the lender. Be sure you have your "case" and financial information in order when calling.

Chase bank credit card debt

Post by Seavers »

Hello My name is Erica. I have been with chase bank for about a year now. I would like to consolidate my debt, and start paying things off with a small loan and then pay the loan back monthly until the balance is paid off. How can I do that? Is there a program that would help me with this? It is a Chase credit card issued at my local bank. Sent from my iPhone

21% interest is WAY too high. Maybe try the Chase Debt Settlement program. As it can lower you interest rate, save you money, and maybe lower the principal balance. It is free to apply so no risk in at least trying.

High interest rate on chase credit card

Post by Trader »

Hello,My wife recently lost her job and we are now a one income household. I am trying to cut little charges, so I am looking for assistance with my Chase Credit Card who charges me 21% interest. I have a $7k limit of which is always maxed, and I am working on getting that paid down. Is there anything you can help me with on that? Also, I know this may sound far fetched, but I don’t have dental insurance and my teeth really needs attention :-) Is there any help for Chase Credit card high interest rates for someone like me out there? Thanks Abby
