Through a series of tragic circumstances which have occurred over the last two years, I have found myself in a very difficult financial situation that I hope will be temporary.
However, I am still battling several legalities regarding a horrific divorce, which occurred while I was charged with caring for an elderly parent who was critically injured in a motorcycle accident...as I was also in the process of securing disability benefits as well as filing bankrupcy due to my diagnosis and treatment of borderline ovarian cancer.
This is as awful as this sounds.
However, I have handled the combination of challenges well enough to believe that I will be able to fully recover with the appropriate legal decisions and assistance from programs that your agency may offer.
My immediate problem is that my old and ailing furnace may finally be beyond repair. I applied for a grant to replace it last year but missed out.
I was told that I should keep trying (I have) and that should the grant not become available to me that a crisis, such as system failure, would put me in a position to have the system replaced/repaired (again) immediately.
I paid for a brief service call yesterday because it was all that I could afford. However, today it failed in such a way that it may be beyond repair.
I have no heat. I live in, and have sole ownership of, marital property. The divorce is final.
My ex-Husband was/is a predator who all but ruined my home-based business, while quietly wiping out our accounts and retirement assets after 23 years together.
He did this with full knowledge of my Father’s injuries, our responsibilities for his care, and my disabling medical condition.
He has not paid alimony since the divorce was finalized and is currently facing contempt and prison.
I have a hearing to attend on the matter on Feb. 6.
I will be saddled with legal fees beyond finalizing the divorce which occurred last May and cost well over $150,000.00 at that point.
Everyone is baffled as to how my Ex-Husband got away with what he’s been doing.
I will see to it that he does not ...and I will be demanding restitution. My disability hearing date has finally been scheduled for March 19, 2026.
I am told that because I was primarily a housewife, I may only qualify for $600 a month and perhaps be denied entirely as my issue is of a “feminine” nature and does not have a great deal of visibility.
I do have some rental income and have had a very successful career as an independent video marketing producer which allows me to do voice work and some light duty marketing work. These things yield a very small fraction of my former income since my illness between 2015-2018.
It’s been downhill ever since. I believe that I have tackled this well and am about to overcome the last 9 years of obstacles, but I will need significant assistance.
Regardless, this will be a rough recovery.
Please respond via email or leave a message on my cell.
Since I’m well known in the region as a “production company” for over 20 years, all correspondence contains these references.
Thank You in advance for your kind response,
Cindy

Husband lost his job of 6 years, we divorced too and having trouble getting unemployment until he finds work. Been a month now and my electric, water bill due plus have no insurance. We have credit card debt still from the bankruptcy and I need prescriptions but don't got money to see my doctor. We need help with several things or we will become homeless. He has always worked and we have always paid for our bills and food etc.

Hi , I do not have anywhere to turn to for help. Things are bad and I don’t want to keep dealing with this anymore. I am deep in debt it is hard to pay bills. I am divorced and it is hard to keep a roof over my head. I need legal help now and can not pay for it. I need a way to get medical help, I just want to find someone that will listen and try to help before I lose all hope.

But, I am late this month on my rent, which is due on the 1st. The rent is $1075.00 a month, he charges $10.00 per day if it past the first. I thought it was the 10th of the month, but he has advised me no. I m am a real jam this month. Between all the money I put in my car and credit card debts, and I just cannot do it this month and he is not been very nice, the total for this month is $1375.00 and next month is due on the 1st$ for 1075.00 . My lease is up in December. I am looking for a place closer to work, and affordable, but I in process of bankruptcy, so that may make it difficult. Please get back to me ASAP!! Please leave voice mail message This is urgent!!

Not sure of your income, but maybe look into free legal advice to answer this question on home ownership/transfer. Many firms offer pro-bono (free) legal aid even for items like divorces and home title transfer. Here is a listing of free legal programs by state. Select your state to get phone numbers and names of law firms that cover your area/state.

He moved out to live with another woman, but agreed to divorce and let me have the house. We haven't filed for divorce yet. I am concern about the house. Can I transfer the title and mortgage under my name? When will I do that, before divorce or after? I have 13 year-old daughter from my previous marriage. Please advise.

Have you ever heard of a credit card hardship program? What this program is when a credit card company, such as Citibank, Bank of America, etc. will help the customer reduce their debts through modifications, interest rate reductions, or other options or solutions. Usually people look into these before filing bankruptcy, but it is never too late, as a hardship program may always be able to help those in need. Each credit card issuer will offer their own terms, but the bottom line is you can save substantially using a hardship program. Get more information from http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/cre ... grams.html
They are great for people who have historically paid their bills but are just going through a difficult period.

Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. I recently divorced the children's father. And so now that
I have almost gotten over the mountain I am faced with one final step that I
cannot seem to get past. I am behind on April and May rent and possibly facing
eviction. I do not have any savings and all the money that has been coming in
has been going right back out to try and finalize the last of the bankruptcy and
divorce. Now, I have no idea what to do. ??? I have contacted several of the
organizations here in Springfield and they all tell me the same thing- that they
are completely out of funding for rental assistance. I think that this is
incredibly bogus. I mean the government I'm sure does not give very much to
these organizations but to be completely out of funding by May is totally
unacceptable. So, in my case, a woman that works 40 hours a week, pays her bills
and has simply fallen behind I am left without any help.... I'm scared and I
need some help. I don't receive food stamps because I make too much, I can't get
a loan because of my bankruptcy and the no collateral issue, so what do I do????
Who can help me just pay 2 months, heck one month of rent just to help me get
back on track. Please help, I really have exhausted all efforts. Thank you and
God Bless.
