Re: Deposit, first and last month rent help all needed

Post by Angela S »

I recently have become homeless after keeping a roof over my 2 children's head for almost 14 years. Now I need money for deposits (first and last) as well as rent. I am a single 38 year old female with full custody of both my children a boy 12 years old and a girl now 18 months. I am also disabled and have been since November 2007. I don't get any child support and have managed to get by surviving off my monthly social security disability income and most times food stamps.
I've had days I've gone hungry to ensure my kids were fed but I don't know what else to do now I am just evicted for the first time due to someone stole my account information and I got late charges and bounced check fees which I never knew I had a checking account since I was told it was a debit savings account. Either way I am held responsible at least for now until I can show ,my proof when I take the other party to court to get reimbursed. I have good rental history and making payments just couldn't pay additional fees upfront and live and eat for the rest of the month. I never had extra money to play with but was ok as long as my kids were happy. I currently am considered homeless I guess you would say but have been looking for a place for months and just this morning I got confirmation I am approved on a 2 bedroom 2 bath place to call home. It’s perfect for me and my 2 kids but I don't know how I can pay for my first month’s rent and the security.
I have to pay for a place to stay either day to day or weekly and don't want to lose this opportunity I've been waiting months to finally get some good news about. I don't know the process or if you can point me in the right direction but I am desperate and my kids are the  most important thing to me and without them I have nothing. Please let me know if there is anything you can do to help point me in the right direction or if form I can fill out or list of places to call that can help for rent and first-last security deposit. I appreciate your time and hope to hear from you soon.

Re: Grant for an apartment/security deposit

Texas or NYC? As they are completely different. But there are homeless prevention grants in Texas. But we doubt you can get $11,300....that is probably impossible if not hopeless for you and your apartment.

I was working and my housing assistant felt it was better if she didn't put my pay stubs down with annual review to help me save money to move away from him. But my son always needed grant money for school and he was away in Texas.

Re: assistance getting security deposit and first month rent

Post by ATHENAFARIS »

Hello,
Myself and my partner are wondering  if we qualify for a one time assistance with our first month's  rent and deposit, my partner works but we cannot come up with the money to move. We can pay the rent monthly but unable to move our landlord has raised the rent every year since we have been here. Starting November 1st we will have to start paying 1850. We have been here for 6 years and this place is not worth it  to many repairs needed, and our landlord is favoring our newer tenants. We had our car stolen last year and we were allowed to park our second car in the back, after 6 years of parking  back there we are no longer aloud to park there because of the neighbors  complaining. We feel it’s reteliation, discrimination, our landlord  told us he doesn't  care  instead of fighting with the neighbors we just want to move. We have used up all of our savings and just been stuck here and need assistance with the security deposit and first months rent for a new place. Please advise, we live in Santa Clara CA.
                       Thank you for your time,
                              Sincerely,

If you would like to talk about this further please call me about the rent and deposit grant process. Please leave a message, my phone don't show missed calls. If I miss the call thank you and god bless you.

Re: Security deposit voucher

Post by Moses »

I had been accepted for the LINC program which had expired on 2/10/18. I would like to know if there's anyway that I can get an extension on my security deposit voucher because I finally found something and the landlord is willing to accept the program if I am able to get another updated voucher. My daughter and I are currently staying in a friend's basement until our place is ready. We are in Jamaica, NY 11423. I hope we can still get the voucher even though we're not residing at the Belt/Park Family Inn.

If you need both rent and deposit help, then try the rental assistance programs near you that are on the site. But if you can't afford the apartment, then you may want to look into a different unit and/or another place for a home.

There are some grant programs. They can help with housing needs. Usually ESG is a main grant in New York City.
Try calling the United Way or Catholic Charities there, as both offer assistance programs for apartments in the region.

Re: Security deposit voucher

Post by Jeremiah1 »

I've been served eviction notice currently because I have not received my tax return and the voucher from it to take care of the first, last and security deposit of the place that I am in with my wife and three daughters. Currently I walk to a job locally but the landlord is unwilling to work out a rental Arrangement until said funds are sent to me. We have nowhere to go when the sheriff comes by to save the 24 hour. If there's anyone that gets his message they can please help me and my family pay this landlord, I will be extremely indebted to you for a voucher and will pay back any funds as soon as a tax return was received or a payment plan is set in place. Please call me.

I'm currently looking for assistance with my deposit. I just got approved for my section 8 and don't have enough income to cover my deposit. Is there any other programs that could help me? I'm a family of 4 and receive cal-works and child support with a total income of $982 a month. Please let me know what my options are. Thank you.

I just got my own apartment and in the process of moving in I lost my job. I just started a new job but I don't make nearly as much and my landlord is already helping me make payment on the rest of the deposit as well as first months rent. I just am not making enough right now just starting this new job, Help is appreciated.

Yes, two years is a long time. Good for your family to allow it, but it is time. Find the different security deposit assistance programs you can try for help. They can also probably help you find affordable housing too.

I need help with a security deposit as I have been homeless for 3 years and am going to start receiving monthly help for rent and have found an apartment to move into using my voucher, but I cannot move until I have security and 1st months’ rent. And I do not or will not be able to come up with security on my own as I am raising my 2 granddaughters and also have 1 child still home with me who just turned 17.
I can move in right away pending the security deposit. I would like help with that if you all do that or if you know where I can go to get help, Thank you.

If you need all of that support, then look into rent help. Some non-profits as well as the government offers all of those services to potential leases. But we doubt you can get enough money to cover all of the expenses. You will need to raise some of it on your own.

Hello , I have 3 children and I would like to know If you can help me with rent and security because I was evicted. I can't afford what the landlord was asking for. I found a place but I need a little help until welfare and TRA is approved. I would really appreciate the help. Please understand I don't want to be in the street with my children. Thank you and God bless.

Re: assistance getting security deposit and first month rent

I recently lost one of my jobs. The main income of my household. I have an eight year old son. I have been trying to manage and hold it together. This month has gotten hard. My rent was due on the first. I tried to pay part of it but the office manager says all or nothing. Everyday it’s late is an extra $10. I'm lost. I need help yet at every turn is another let down. Where do I go? Who can help?
