Re: Does Salvation Army offer volunteers for plumbing

Post by Ruby »

My name is Larry and I reside in the Roxborough area of Philadelphia. My girl friend, significant other, of many years is the homeowner of an old house with bad plumbing and has only a small social security check each month. I try to help but I have a low paying part time job with a modest social security check each month. She is 65 with health problems and a mentally retarded 39 year old son. The house has plumbing issues and we have difficulty with bills. Currently the thermostat is broken and she is not well in all this heat. We need to have that repaired and some plumbing and hoping the Salvation Army will help. I am seeking help while I still can. Please contact me. Thank you. I am desperate to get some repair help with the plumbing and water in the pipes. Thank-you.

Re: I was a Salvation Army volunteer

Post by Seth »

Hello my name is Crystal and I'm in need of assistance on paying for the first month rent and deposit for a new home. I used to volunteer at the Salvation Army now I hope they will help me. I'm currently living in Ocala Fl with my beautiful four children and my hard working husband. We are staying with family members but are being pushed out of their home. We have come from CA and been here for 6 months.
We have reached out to the Salvation army organization in the area along with a few others and were denied even though I gave them references to my past volunteer work. We haven't had any luck with getting the support we need so our family isn't out on the street. Please let me know if there's anything you can do to help our family. We would truly appreciate it. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Sabrina
That is great you are trying to help your disabled dad. The Salvation Army does have programs in St. Charles MO and maybe they will assist him. Look for those programs on the site. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... ren_s.html

Hi,
We are not the Salvation Army, and no where on the site does it say we are. That being said, they do offer help with bills, including power like you seem to be struggling with. Call your local Salvation Army - as it is not us. And find details on Salvation Army power bill help.

Re: Salvation Army requires income for help

Post by Admin - Jon McNamara »

Hi all,
Generally any charity or organization that helps people requires the applicant to have income. And yes, that includes the Salvation Army. As it should kind of be common sense that is an organization helps someone with their bills, and said person has zero income, then any money a charity gives out is really going down the drain. As the applicant to the Salvation Army or any charity has no way to pay said bills the next month. Anyway, here is a list of local Salvation Army assistance programs.

Hello I am needing help paying my July rent and bills. I work for the schools and I'm off for summer break. I have applied for unemployment and I'm still waiting to get paid so I have no income right now which seems the Salvation Army mandates. I have been in contact with my work several times this week and they keep saying it's being processed. I live by myself so I don't have another income. I live in Fort Walton Beach, Fl. I have contacted the Salvation Army and they say I need income coming in first. I just don't know what else to do, my rent and bills isn't as expensive as most places here. I don't want to risk losing my apartment. Could you please help? Thank you for your time. Robin

Re: Information on family clothing from Salvation Army

Post by Ashley »

My name is Heidi. I am a divorced single mother of my 10 year old daughter and we need clothes and stuff for my family. I am disabled, former oncology nurse for over 10 years, due to physical and medical diagnosis and disability. I am suffering from several symptoms related to a recent stroke among other medical complications, and I am in desperate need of assistance from the Salvation Army. Where I can apply for family clothing and seeing if I may qualify for assistance. I am behind on my bills and in a lot of debt. Do you know or have any contact information for someone who may be able to assist my family?
Thank you for your time and dedication.
Sincerely,
Heidi

Re: Salvation Army not giving back

Post by Admin - Jon McNamara »

Hi,
Salvation Army, nor any charity, needs to help you or anyone. They do their best to give back and help people like you who are homeless, but you sound kind of entitled to getting help from them. If you have a car, maybe drive a couple miles and go stop at the center, as there are so many salvation Army locations to try as noted on the website. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... assis.html
Roker wrote: Mon Oct 18, 2021 12:40 pm Hi, I have emailed and called the Salvation Army 4 times looking for help for me and my family who currently are homeless and sleeping in my car. It seems like they are not giving back to me at least! I also tried New hope, 211 and several others referred me to there, the Salvation Army.

Re: Money for energy bills from Salvation Army programs

Hi,
While we are are not the Salvation Army, they do have thousands of locations across the US. Funding is limited and programs vary, but some will help with energy bills if qualified. Try this URL for local Salvation Army centers.

Good afternoon,
I pray all is well with you. I was given this name and number of the Salvation Army to contact about utility bill assistance. I have called this number on March 15 to apply for money for energy costs, was told to call back on Mondays after 8:30. I called back Monday, no answer; Monday, March 18, no answer, I left a message and my number to return call; Monday, March 25, no answer, I left another message and number. I am just wondering am I calling the correct number, if not can you please reply with the info that I need to contact someone from the Salvation Army for their energy programs. I am disabled and in need of some assistance if possible.

Re: Does Salvation Army offer volunteers for plumbing

Hello,
We are looking for financial assistance from the Salvation Army to replace our leach lines as well as plumbing system. We have a failing system and did not pass the dye test.
I have tried to get a home improvement loan through my bank but because of having no credit and my husband having poor credit. My mother in law is disabled and has a fixed income and cant not get a loan.
I was told to reach out to you from the bank for plumbing help. This is an emergency request from the Salvation Army because we are being threatened to be evicted from our house due to this. We have no where to go if that happens.
I hope you can give me some information. We live in NYS.

Hello,
My name is Elizabeth and I’ve been homeless with my son for a couple of years now with some money coming in from SSDI. The reason why we are homeless is because I was involved in a brutal domestic violence relationship with a man-a man who claims his actions stemmed from his drug use. He is currently in a Salvation Army program in Perris California. Although I’m sure he is grateful for the help of your services, he has stated to me that there is no help for me or my son from the Salvation Army and so have many of the resident managers at that location.
However, when calling around to the Salvation Army for services for people on SSDI, as a last ditch effort to community resources, I keep being directed back to you all!
I’m emailing because I am at my last straw. We are at the end of a motel voucher program a bit worse then when we began. I started this program 3 months ago with a lot of hope because I had a car and jobs looked promising but when my car was totaled out, life changed. I have not been able to work living in in the town of Norco California, I’ve also not been called locally by any business for work. In that time-my bills have fallen behind. There are only a couple and they are delinquent this month.
I am emailing to find out if there is assistance to help me pay my phone bill and my storage bill from the Salvation Army, as I need a phone for my medical needs for the SSDI disability? All of my furniture for my two bedroom condo and all of me and my child’s possessions also included. I do not know exactly where to call in your program because when I call Riverside county numbers, I keep getting redirected and I’m running in circles at the end of the day and ot getting any closer to getting assistance that I’m seeking.
Could you please help me with a point of contact who would be able to further assist me in possibly paying my phone and storage bill for this month? You can respond to this email or call my phone.
I look forward to your response and have a nice day!

We have many resources in Coral Springs FL, both from the Salvation Army as well as other agencies. Maybe some can help you with rent.
But the resources we have listed cover all of Broward County. You can look here for resources, and more on Broward County financial resources.

Salvation Army requires income for help

Post by Elway J »

Hello, I live Coral Springs, Fl. I need help paying my rent. I call the salvation 2 weeks ago ask for help with my rent. Help was denied because I didn't have a income, but thanks God the company that I used to work for call me yesterday and told me that they needed my help again. What do I do now? I'm behind on my rent, I'm desperate iI don't know what to do. Please help me.
My name is Marvin Adams and my date of birth is: April 30, 1979
Every since my mother passed away, I've been in a crisis and I have no source of income so the Salvation Army will not help This is the first year without my mother and went Thanksgiving without a slice of bread and for nothing this Christmas so I am having financial hardship, food crisis, problems with shelter and I have no clothes other what I am wearing... I am respectfully requesting that you could give me some type of assistance and/or referrals where I can get some help... I would like help with also rent assistance because the guy who let me stay with him informed me that if I don't pay for rent this month he will evicted me and I will be in the street and I have nowhere else to turn to...
Any help that you could provide is greatly appreciated... Thank you.

Re: Check question for Salvation Army

Yes, there may be options out there for low income Clark County people living check to check. Maybe food, utility bill help, job advice and more. Find Salvation Army in Las Vegas assistance programs.

Good Morning, My name is Kenna. I live check to check and need help from the Salvation Army. I am the mother of 3 children and working hard to make ends meet but I feel like I'm failing because my electric bill is extremely hard to pay. I'm trying to balance a 1200+ electric bill because I got kicked off the energy equal payment due to paying the bill late 3 times. (I didn't read the fine print, and was balancing bills between my checks like normal, it's difficult when everything is due on one paycheck).
Is there anything the Salvation Army can do to assist someone living paycheck to check? I'll file all information as soon as I find out what is needed. I live at North Las Vegas, NV 89081.
