Now of course if you need the car fixed for work, that may be possible from some charities or volunteer mechanics. But of course those services are limited, hard to find and within reason. Despite my illness I care for my elderly mother who suffers from advance stage dementia. She is currently hospitalized and has been for the past 2 months.
On October 25, 2023, she had peg put on place for tube feeding. When leaving the hospital my car broke down. My vacuum pump went out on the car. Since I'm on disability a friend offered to put on the part for me to help me save money, long as I got the part. Long story short on November 8 2023 I had to put my car in the shop because it still wouldn't start even after the vacuum pump.
Turns out when the vacuum pump went out pieces of broke off and traveled into the engine, and now I need a new engine and that repaired or replaced for free. I have no idea how I'm going to come up with all the money, I do have 1685 towards it money I save plus money from some family members.
Originally the shop thought it may have been the timing chain but later realized it wasn't. The money I have was to pay for that repair. The shop did find a used engine with a warranty the cost for it plus labor would be an additional 2500. I called different organization in my area for help, and no one offers help for car repair other the DHS, but you must receive cash assistance under the TANF program to qualify. My car is medically necessary not only for myself but my mother as well.
I have prayed and cried out for a free car repair and an feeling defeated ask God to please give me strength to bare all that's going on. Also to please send me a miracle. I never thought I would be in position where I would have to be on my phone calling around for help, pleading with them in tears. I have only seen my mother one time since my car broke down. When I was at the hospital daily since she was admitted on September 6 2023. I live in the country where there's no public transportation, no cabs, or Uber service.
Only one family member offered to take me which is how was able to see her the one time, and it breaks my heart with my mom in the hospital alone surrounded by nothing that's familiar to her. She is no longer verbal, can't eat or drink any longer, sometimes she alert, but most of the time she isn't unless she hears a familiar voice. The hospital has done all they could so mom will be discharged home , until she is called to heavenly home. Meanwhile through all this I still need to be able to make my doctor appointments once the car is repaired for free, and be able to get my vital medications. The stress from it all has my BP to be out of control even with taking my medications. That's why I spend a lot of time praying for a miracle. Everything I'm saying can be proven my mother's name. I pray you can help me, if not I thank you greatly for your time. God Bless
Since you need the car for a job, and the engine fixed, look for a grant. Some organization's may offer grants to fix an auto if it is for work reasons. Find other details on how to get auto repair grant money.

There are some DIY Car repairs. The parts are usually still need to be bought (or look for a charity to help pay for them), but do it yourself could save on labor costs.
Hello, I’m a single mother of 4 children who is struggling to care for them. I need assistance in paying my rent and my car needs some fixing and I work but my job is cutting hours and with my car needing repairs with no extra funds it’s hard because if my car breaks I can’t get to work to make the little hours I do have or take care of my children. My husband is 100% service connected disabled veteran from the Army during Golf War, and we need help with car trouble. Our vehicle needs free repairs and we don't have the funds. This is our only vehicle and it is unreliable to provide save travels to the VA hospital for my husband's care. We are unable to put the wheelchair on the vehicle because the weight of it may cause the vehicle to break down faster. We need this vehicle.
We were homeless for almost a year however we are in a house now, but funding is so tight I must choose to pay bills or fix the vehicle.

We have a 2001 Toyota Sequoia that needs a new rack and pinion $1,400 or so and our back shocks are leaking $600 to $800.
We have no means to pay for this so it needs to be free. Robert my husband is on home health, housebound through the VA and our adult son who is cognitive and physically disabled, which doesn't give me the ability to work I am there caregiver. We service month to month especially after being homeless for 9 months before moving into our home we are in now. I need financial assistant on fixing my car. I found out that I need a bottom ball joints and an AC compressor and a filter that goes with compressor. I can get the compressor fix for around 700.00 and I can get thrall joints done around 160.00. Sorry to hear about the car tires blowing, the transportation concerns and other barriers. You also need to find a place to live. But in addition, try one of the car and transport programs for the disabled. Maybe they can give you some relief and support.

Car repair assistance to aid with my job searches. Most of the companies that are hiring are within the suburbs and most of those areas require you to have your transportation. I am a dis-located worker in the Houston, TX and have yet to find a career job to help with advancing my professional skill set.
Even with doing a functional resume the hiring managers are Leary about hiring people with degrees and experience because of two reasons...1. The hiring manager was promoted from within and most don't have an undergraduate degree accomplished and 2. The hiring managers feel threatened by the credentials. Hello, I was visiting the Eustace, TX area when my husband and I were victims of repeated thievery. My husband grew up in the lake Ares and we have been several times to visit friends and family with no problems. In March, we made another trip here to visit.
The apartment we were staying at belonged to a friend and caught fire, nearly everything we bought with us was destroyed. We the drive to the cedar Creek lake area to see other friends and family. We got up one morning to find our car completely empty. All of our clothes, my purse, that food we brought, all of it was gone. Friends got us gas money, gave us clothes and things they didn't use to pawn and tried their best to help. We finally after a long Month of sleeping in the car and on floors we had saved enough to get back to Wyoming!

I have spent money on car repairs, just as I paid to get starter put into my car, it jumped timing. I lost my job due to that, my fiancé found another job, I am currently looking, but I am walking and I have no one since my family lives out of state. I could have a good job, but it's a 30-40 minute drive.
I also had cancer and need to go to check ups and my doctor is 45 minutes away. I am losing everything. My home, my bills are overdue and I dont know what to do.
