Re: I am disabled with no money and need help

Post by Admin - Jon McNamara »

Hi Kristina,
Did you get disability income? SSI or SSDI or something? As if you are medically disabled that should be the case. But if you really have no funds/money, try this to learn how to get help with no money.
As far as other resources, depending on your state, here are a bunch of local and national disability options out there. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... stanc.html

I am disabled with no money and need help

Post by Isabella Rossi »

Good morning,
My name is Kristina. I have 3 children, 5, 3 and 2 years old. I am physically disabled without an income. My partner just left our home and we are here without a way to pay rent, bills and have no vehicle. I am not sure what programs are available but am hoping for some help and information. If anyone could get back to me on what programs there are and how to apply online or over the phone I would really appreciate it. Thank you for your time.

Hi Kandace and everyone else,
Of course there are some nationwide disability benefits, like SSI or SSDI, but most are local / statewide. So we need your state or other local info. Until then, use this for a disability benefits by state and pick your state from the list.

A 19 y/o car? What is the blue book value? Probably not even worth the cost of the tires but try one of the gran programs for fixing a car and tires https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... rants.html

My car is 19 years old and needs front and back struts. The front ones alone will cost me $700. I live in a rural area and there are many people whom need help.
I cannot afford a newer car; my credit is bad because I have spent $4000 since 2012 getting my car fixed and used a credit card. I even had to get a loan and still the car needs work of which I have no money. No one is going to accept payments because they have been screwed.
In December I had to call 7 churches to get my clutch fixed by a guy who really messed up my car and charged $700.I need YOUR help. Please can you help me?????

Hi, I am curious as to what assistance I may be eligible for in Haywood county NC . I am 47 and had an ischemic stroke last Wednesday and am in an inpatient rehab at moment. I have a job but there is no short term disability with my job and I am not sure how long I’ll be out of work as I deal with the stroke.
I am right sided impaired. Not walking yet other than with walker and assistance for short distance and right hand is not working yet either with any coordination, I’d appreciate any financial help you can suggest

Re: Can SSI disability pay for a new water heater?

Post by Greer »

Good Afternoon! I am sending this message in hopes you can help me or point me in the right direction. I have been struggling since separation from service and going on disability with SSI. I am on SSI while trying to take care of my daughter by myself and search for a job. I have fallen way behind with my water bill and it's been cut off. The water heater also just broke down. I cannot get a loan because I don't have a job, and right now I only have 30$ and the bill to fix the water heater is 1053.00$. I just need help getting it resolved or a new hot water heater. Thank you in advance for any information you have about SSI and water help! Have a great day!

Re: Disabled and need help as have limited income

Post by LiaLin »

I'm not an organization. I'm an individual looking for any information you can provide for my disabled parents whose income is less than $1000 a month. I'm a 43 year old caregiver to my disabled parents and mother in law. My husband had a stroke on August 1st. He is on FMLA at this time so his income is limited. We have young children at home one is 12 the other is 8. We have bills coming due that we'll be unable to pay much less help my disabled parents. I live in Benton Arkansas.  Can you give me any information on temporary assistance? Thank you Crystal Rodriguez

Re: Senior on permanent disability as income

Post by Elowang »

Hello, I found your link while searching for assistance. I am interested in what programs are available. I am a senior on permanent medical disability and my wife was diagnosed last year as SMI, severely mental ill and has not yet been approved for SSI. We have an Autistic 7 year old grandson we care for with an extensive list of food allergies.
I am awaiting medical clearance to return to work part time but I am 67 years old. We filed bankruptcy last fall as the we were drowning in medical debt and between medications for all 3 of us and my daughter’s food requirements, who also lives with us. I sure could use some help, so if you have programs for permanent disabled, would you consider us? Thank You for your time. Terri

Re: Can SSI disability pay for a new water heater?

Post by Admin - Jon McNamara »

Hi,
Well your SSI will give you money each month, right. And you can use those funds to fix or buy a new water heater. Does that answer your question? As far as other programs that may exist, try talking to a free disability advocated as noted here. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... y_adv.html

Can SSI disability pay for a new water heater?

Post by Kenji »

Hello,
My very old water heater broke about a month and a half to two months ago. I had talked with my church and some friends about it and had not been able to replace it.
Then, I began having vertigo.
It has since become very difficult just trying to manage personal care while having vertigo and not having hot water or being able to use my bathtub.
I really need hot water again so I can take a shower and not have to bend over and put my head upside down at the kitchen sink while having vertigo.
It's difficult and unsafe.
My income is SSI and I'm unable to pay for a new one. Will SSI help me cover a down payment for a water heater? Or are there disability programs for a water heater?
It's completely beyond my capabilities financially.
If there's anything you can do, or anyone you can refer me to, or anyone you can refer me to, please let me know.
I so much appreciate it!

Re: Short term disability and want to get long term disability

Post by Admin - Jon McNamara »

Hi,
Disability is hard to get, period. Whether you have short term, long term, or first applying, etc. We have details on the process, but also look into advocates as well as lawyers to help with the application process. Find advocates to help get long term disability.

Re: Short term disability and want to get long term disability

Post by Emma1 »

I live in Huntington, WV. I have researched for months on rental and utility assistance as well as how to get long term disability. However, the local and State agencies claim to have no funding resources available.
I am on short term disability but need permanent disability retirement due to severe health issues and work part-time for the local library. I am told (as recently as 3 weeks ago) that I am over income for assistance such as SNAP or HUD subsidized housing.
Does your organization have any resources for low income, disabled people who are facing utility disconnection and homelessness?
Any help with resources would be greatly appreciated, as I am in a very dire situation.
Thank you for your help!
Sincerely,
Tony Fauci

Short term disability and want to get long term disability

Post by Tony Fauci »

Hello my name is Michael, I am 55 years old and on short term disability and need longer term help. I do not have a address because I've been homeless for 6 months. I need directed to somebody in Kentucky that is real. I worked 35 years at Bob Evans restaurant and had a normal life with kids and a family for support before I went onto short term disability. I lost my family and was put on SSDI since then I have struggled to maintain a home car food. My parents and all my siblings are deceased. I am depressed.
Life has changed and I can't afford a apartment and a car at once. I am a educated man. I bring home 1800 a month and the resources I contacted said I make to much for help to transition from short to long term disability. Life is not fun for me, I've been freezing and hungry. I have a spinal cord injury and cancer of the adrenal glands. But I look pretty good. I feel I'm being judged. Thanks for the time. Sincerely Michael

Re: Senior on permanent disability as income

Post by Emilie »

Hello I am presently requesting help finding assistance with my electric bill with Duke energy. I received help approximately five or six months ago from salvation army but due to my health condition as I am on permanent disability. I am unable to return to work and is in the process of applying for permanent disability with Social Security administration as a senior.
I called the Onslow county department of social services they said I do not qualify for assistance through their program. I do not know of any other charities that is currently providing assistance to disabled seniors. If you can help me with this I would greatly appreciate this.

Re: Retirement disability payments not enough

Yes, it is often hard (always so?) to keep up during retirement. Maybe a part time, low stress job. Or get financial help. We have other tips on making retirement money last longer.

To whom it may concern:
My name is Alicia and I saw this link online
https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... ct_us.html
I’m on disability benefits from my disability retirement benefits and I have very very limited income to repair my vehicle and I need help with fixing it so I can get around my area and I need my vehicle to help with food shopping and getting around for my medical appointments and other insurance purposes so it’s really necessary for me to get my vehicle back on the road again soon…
I have no other support services available in my area and I saw this post online that offers assistance for auto repair services for free for low income people who are not able to get their vehicles fixed…
I’m living in Manchester NH 03103, and retirement disability is just not enough for cost of living here.
I’ve called every single place I can possibly think of calling even churches within my area and they don’t have any financial resources within my area and that includes the local welfare department and state agencies!!!
Catholic charities, salvation ministries and other charities within my region can’t help me with this issue because they don’t have the resources or finances to help provide the funds to help people who are struggling financially or on low incomes….
I’m reaching out to you now because I’ve tried everything possible I can think of and that includes 211!!!!
