Hi Felicia,
Do you qualify for legal aid - so a free lawyer? As we have details on them here at the South Carolina legal aid services. That is more a general topic of it.
There is also a local office in Columbia SC too at 2109 Bull St, Columbia, SC 29201, with details here. https://sclegal.org/locations/
There may also be some rights with renters, etc. for the area - so check with legal aid on that.

My name is Felicia. I am located in Columbia, SC. I am currently in a situation where I had to switch jobs because of health problems with previous warehouse position now, I am a car sales representative working my way through training hoping this will be a great career. Before I switch jobs, I realized I had some pretty serious water and oil damage in different parts of my ceiling in my apartment. Maintenance made it clear one spot was oil damage. Then a water spot also in the living room he tried to say was just the paint changing color. After he saw my reaction, he tried to say it wasn't a big deal he could spray paint on it. Another spot in my kitchen where one of my lights are water damage. You can see doom has already started to develop and two cracks coming from my light. Managers refuse to enforce work to be done saying in quote, "As long as it is not leaking it is not a problem." I am a neat person and do not have much in my apartment but since these problems there have been an increase in water bugs. I told the manager I refuse to pay rent until this work is done. She said they were going to fix the problem. After it took me 3 times including email to get in contact with them. It has been almost two months. I need help trying to find a good lawyer to get my money back and try to move on without this place causing problems on my record.
I apologize for the long email, this has just been a very stressful situation.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Nedra,
The good news is the job market is booming in SC, so hopefully you will find a new position soon. In the meantime, look here for emergency help in Columbia SC.
There are agencies that may help with your mortgage as well as other bills too.

Our mortgage is 1550 a month and my husband's income isn't enough to pay our monthly bills until I find another job. Is there a way to lower my mortgage or get assistance so that we don't have to get behind? We have 3 daughters and have worked very hard to build a good life. My position was eliminated so I didn't do anything wrong. Please contact me with options. I live in Columbia. Specifically, Irmo, SC. Thanks.
