Hi,
First of all, thank you for your service sergeant. Second of all great for you to try to help a formerly homeless person. However that is several items she needs (car repairs, money for a mobile home, etc.) and you did not say what general area it is. Therefore we would recommend using the main needhelppayingbills search page.
There type in area, needs, etc. which will bring you to the right resources.

We are looking at government grants for the purchase of a mobile home and setup costs as well as to pay her utility deposits and car. As she wants to also have it moved to her grandmother's property in Appling.
She is mentally and emotionally disabled. She gets disability and food stamps. Since living in apartments has caused relapses with her mental health, we feel this is our best option.
A neighbor had an old car that we could have. I've been working to make sure it is safe and mechanically sound.
No one has been willing to help her and she needs stability. Therefore, I am hoping you can help her take advantage of a government grant.
I retired from the Army 10 years ago with the rank of sergeant major (E9).
Thank you for your time.

Hi,
Thank you for your service of even working for the government, as many people even they may get better pay or benefits somewhere else. We are not familiar of any grants. What we would recommend is you look for a non-profit credit union, many of which focus on helping federal employees. Examples would be fedFinancial at https://www.fedfinancial.org/, but there are others.
We also have our own guide on how credit unions may help, which also lists some locations on that page.

I've incurred tons of debt in the last 5 years because I took a higher up job in my government Agency. I didn't get my raise to start training as I was told I would get nor the per diem I was told I'd get. So, I immediately had to start using the money I set aside for the actual job I knew I would have to drive to. Then I thought I would only have to drive for a year and a half, I’m still driving at least 130 miles round trip daily for work. And I'm required to do training, but I can't have my job pay for the expenses. So, I play for all the supplies.
I've been doing this for actual 4 years. I've now gone in debt well over $40,000. I know a bunch of it is finance charges from the credit cards. I don't know what to do!

Where to get the free government grants

Post by Shea Ohmsted »

Hello,
My name is Sonoita and I needed an application or information on applying for a grant from the government. I was evicted from my long-term affordable housing in Oakland due to an owner move in eviction and relocated to Carmichael in February of this year. I currently work two part time job and have been struggling paying rent, bills, food, utilities etc.. I'm single, on my own and care for all my bills myself. If I can please get some information on how to get these government grants because I won't have enough money to cover my rent and bills.
Thank you,
Griller

Good evening ,
I'm in a desperate situation right now to find government grants through my city. I live in New York State, Westchester county. We find ourselves in a hard predicament and unknown status of what is happening next in our home. I need financial stability and mental stability.
My husband lost his job back in March and I have been the only one to barely sustain the bills from our home. Today we see ourselves not being able to afford our necessity bills ( light, food) and debt bills from past years. I have applied for temporary rent assistance and free government grants online but no answer to when we will be notified if we do qualify or not. I'm desperate and unable to have a restless night of sleep. I don't know where else to look for temporary help or a government grant. Can someone guide me to go where I need to go and ask for some help?
Please and Thank you.

Hello, I am 20 years old.
I'm contacting you regarding a free government grant for rent, and other bills.
My fiancƩ and I are having a hard time paying bills right now, and he's getting a new job part time right now. As for me it's really hard to find a job sitting down. I have a disorder called POT Syndrome and I can't do a lot of physical activity with my heart.
Therefore with him only one working and I still looking for a job it's really hard and stressful. I'm contacting you in a need of help.
Questions:
1) Free Government Grants you do not have to pay back correct?
2) How much could I get for a grant to help pay bills?
3) Is a grant really free?
Thank you,
Rocky

I worked for the Government for 9 years. I cannot collect unemployment and the only
income my wife and I have is SSDI which barely covers our rent.
I am looking for some type of Federal Help and grants until my case is settled or
they start back with my Workman's Comp which has not been paid in 8
months.
We have tried community services but they are short on funds.
I know their has to be some sort of help that can at least apply for us to
pay for utilities. Internet and phone are needed to keep in touch with
Doctors and attorney's handling my case. We are currently getting food
stamps but that is all we qualify for 307.00 per month. Please we need
the Governments help.

Never pay money for a free grant! The grant is not free if you have to pay to apply for it. Hundreds of companies make money off people who pay fees just to find out what grants they are eligible for, or to get an application. You can do this yourself for free. It bothers me that people target people who need money and then make money off of them.

As far as individual governmental grants -- these free grants are awarded to agencies and the agencies distribute or use the grants to provide services that help people and many of the agencies do provide individual help, but you need to go through them directly and you need to qualify for the kind of aid they are giving. You will find a whole lot of these agencies and charities on this site, under the various categories.

Also, as was said before, funds are also distributed through local governmental programs -- the government does not simply give you money. You need to qualify for the program.

answer is it depends. for things like college tuition or education, yes, free government grants and money really do exist. for paying off or eliminating personal debts, then no, they do not exist. Also, may states offer what amounts to as free money from assistance programs. Go to the main site (link in top left...find asssitance programs) and look for programs there.
