Hello,
My family is short on our rent by $400. We have the remainder of the money; however, our landlord is stating that tomorrow is the last day that he will accept the amount in full prior to filing for eviction. Can anyone in Greenville assist? I've gotten a raise at work that will apply to my next pay period, but I have to be able to get this taken care of. I have 3 small children (ages 5, 2 and 8 months) and I'm 5 months pregnant with my 4th. My husband lost his job last month, but he's avidly looking for a new one in Greenville or another state. I am the sole income for our family of 5 right now. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Hi Maria
The cost of housing in upstate SC has really increased from years ago. So the local community in Greenville County has expanded the number of rent assistance programs available to the community. They are listed here. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... tance.html
But it also sounds like you have a complicated case with evictions, judge rulings etc. So maybe also try a free lawyer in Greenville. There are also statewide eviction laws that you may want to review listed here. https://www.scbar.org/public/get-legal- ... /eviction/
State: SC
County: Greenville
Hello my name is Marla,
I am currently facing an eviction and now in the appeal stage of appealing the magistrates decision. During the hearing I informed the judge that not only did I pay the balance that was behind, I also had the payment for the month of March at the hearing, however, the property manager informed the judge that they would no longer accept payments due to me being late a few times out of three years. I feel as though my property manager is deliberately trying to evict me in order to lease with someone else being that my lease is up July 31st. The judge then stated that by SC law the property manager does not have to accept any payments and rules against me. I then was served with a written offer ejectment and waiting on the appeal response from the Greenville County court. I will not renew my lease, however, my children and I cannot afford to lose our home until I have found a new home for us and having an eviction would hinder that process.
