We have been struggling significantly while awaiting my Social Security Disability determination, which has been pending for nearly a year. Unfortunately, all personal support from friends and family has been exhausted, and we are now in a dire financial situation.
I have been unable to work due to severe health issues, including long-term complications from COVID-19 and diabetes, which have made mobility extremely difficult. My last attempt at employment was before I moved to Florida from Valley, Alabama, after my girlfriend’s father passed away. We came here to ensure that his belongings were not further taken amid ongoing probate proceedings.
We receive SNAP benefits, but they do not last the entire month. Additionally, our utilities are at risk of being shut off:
Water bill is past due and may be disconnected soon.
Sewage service has a pending disconnect notice.
Power has already been shut off twice in recent months.
Transportation has also become a major barrier:

The 2002 Ford F-150 left from my girlfriend’s father’s estate has been sitting unused for three years and has mechanical issues. I cannot physically assess or repair it myself.
Additionally, Hurricane Ian caused damage to our home, particularly to the flooring and roof, which affects energy efficiency. There is also a broken window that needs repair to prevent further issues, especially with hurricane season approaching.
I am seeking any available resources for utility assistance, food, minor home repairs, or vehicle repair to help us stay afloat until my disability case is approved. If there are organizations or caseworkers who could assist in filing applications for aid, I would greatly appreciate the guidance.

I need help with new tires for my car, as well as repairs due to an accident and also my auto loan. Also, the car in question, is a 2013 Chevy Equinox that I cannot afford to insure. As a result my license has been suspended and I am not able to renew my tags which means I am falling behind on my bills.
I am actively seeking employment and my minor son has a job at a fast food restaurant to try to make money to pay the bills and get food. We share the car but I'm terrified that the car will break down or blow a tire and cause personal injury.
I live in Fort Myers. I'm a single mother, my son's father has been deceased since 2022. I currently receive temporary rental and utility assistance from Our Florida. Additionally we receive food stamps and Medicaid.
