Re: Salvation Army
Here is a list of all the Salvation Army centers in Ohio. So while we can't help, maybe you can use the food pantry there. At least you can use the $36 you get per month, and the groceries at the pantry, to feed yourself. So try this for a list of Salvation Army programs in your state of Ohio. http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... cial_.html

Does Salvation Army offer volunteers for plumbing
Hello,
I am writing to inquire whether the Salvation Army would provide THIS type of financial assistance to two seniors, one a 20 year veteran. As we just do not have the money, or any other access to find it.
We had a plumbing stoppage at our house in Vernonia, Oregon which required Plumbing to come out and clear. Took two men at 4 1/2 hours each, to clear the lines. I paid, $450 for that. Then the Septic Services came out and drained the septic tank, which cost me $500. $50 of that was for driving out of their service area. He found that there was a three inch hole in the tank, the pipe leading to the drain/leach field had collapsed as had the leach field itself. With the permit to install another septic tank, and a required soil test, I was told that a ball park figure to repair and replace everything, would be $7000. One cannot live in, rent, or sell the house until the septic has been repaired or replaced. Using the commodes, dishwasher, sinks, and shower, would only fill the tank again, with some contents leaking out, and the rest with no place to go.
We've not incurred this bill yet, as we wouldn't have a way of paying it back. But again at the same time, we'll have to wait until the repairs are made, before we can resume living there, or sell the place. I have asked the contractor to complete a bid to submit to the insurance company (USAA), to see what, if anything they would cover under a homeowner's policy. They'd want the first $1000 as a deductible paid, but we can't really afford that either, unless we paid them $20 or $30 per month, back. The best, and most we could probably afford.

Want to report someone scamming the Salvation Army
I recently found out that my ex-wife received financial aid from Salvation Army for her electric bill $800+.
I also found out she received assistance from Goodwill for her water bill $400+ that wasn't paid since December.
She hasn't been paying the mortgage either and want to make sure she isn't taking advantage of something she should take care of on her own.
She receives $2300 from me per month and has had a gambling issue in the past.
What I am saying is she did it on purpose to take advantage of the Salvation Army's goodness.
Please question her thoroughly / make a note before offering any more money to "help".
Sincerely,

Re: Money for energy bills from Salvation Army programs
Hi
I have tried 4 times each Monday as requested. I am sad to say this is one of the most difficult numbers to get any assistance. The reason is the number is always busy from 8:30am - 10:30am.
The other agencies have a more approachable and manageable process. I am in dire need of rental assistance for the month of December. I live in the zip code of 30350.

Did you try stopping by the Salvation Army center in Flint Michigan? It is always better to do that to show your serious, are working towards self-sufficiency, etc. They have zero obligation to give you or anyone funds (even if they have them) for paying utility bills, so by meeting program conditions, showing you paid your Consumer Energy bills on time in the past, and are responsible, all of that will improve your changes of getting help. Anyway, locate the Michigan Salvation Army centers and assistance programs. Click here

Money for energy bills from Salvation Army programs
Good morning,
I am writing this email hoping for some additional options and help paying my Consumers energy bill. I was denied by DHS for help. I have tried for 2 days getting help through the Salvation Army, but I wasn't able to get through on either day. Phone line was busy the entire time. I live in Flint, Michigan and currently have a shut-off notice for consumers energy. I have 5 people in the home including myself. I make $33,000 a year. I have been behind on my bill because I've been caring for my husband who has severe Chron's Disease. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Re: Salvation Army
We are not quite sure where Gallipolis is and what County, but we have Ohio well covered. Dozens of Salvation Army centers operate in that state. They almost all have food pantries and offer energy bill help, including programs like HEAP applications. Did your community action agency refer you to any other resources, as they are always a great resource. Anyway find more details on Salvation Army resources in Ohio, including phone numbers and addresses.

Re: Salvation Army
I have searched all available info and cannot locate a Salvation army office anywhere near Gallipolis, Ohio. I am in desperate need of assistance for electric and food. I did contact my local community action office and they cannot assist because I received HEAP assistance in the past year. I am disabled and my income is only $864 per month. Due to taxes, the high cost of electric and my insurance on my mobile home, I am unable to pay all my bills this month and only get $36 for food assistance. I only need help for this month. Can you help please?

Re: Salvation Army
Well, you may need specific rent or housing assistance vs. just a charity. However, you may want to explore our extensive listing of charities, both national, state (including Florida), as well as local (such as Jacksonville). We have information on the Salvation Army, relocation assistance, ways to get free gasoline vouchers, and much more.

Yes, some places in Palm Beach FL may be able to help both with your rent as well as your utilities. You will need to call around though, as is always the case. Can your roommate contribute to any of the expenses? Find the information on Palm Beach Florida grants and financial assistance. Try calling the Center for Family Services of Palm Beach County, Inc. at 561-514-0564. Or these is also, as in most counties, a community action agency in Palm Beach. Dial 561-355-4700. They offer emergency assistance as well as self sufficiency programs for the low income.

I have a roommate, who also has a nine year old son, and we are not able to pay rent due on the 1st. Also, we have an interruption of service from our electric company on 09/12/2011. If there is any way we can get assistance, please let me know what I need to do. I have tried local programs like the Palm Beach Salvation Army, but all of those have an extended waiting period, and I fear we will be evicted by then. Thank you for your time, and I hope to talk to you soon.

Re: Salvation Army
It sounds like you have called many of the correct places so far. We can provide you a few more options, but not much more we can do. Many programs do focus help single parents first, as they want to ensure kids get support. But the Shawnee assistance resources and programs are listed here. Some can help with bills like energy, and other for housing expenses. Try calling Let's Help, Inc. (which can be reached at (785) 234-6208), Joyful Harvest offers Shawnee and Topeka Kansas residents with free food and other aid (number (785) 354-8154). those are just a couple options for you.

Re: Salvation Army
Calling the Urban League and Salvation Army are great steps. Always highly recommended. Unfortunately as you indicated the funding can be limited. They may not always be able to help everyone. Therefore look into other local charities in your area. For example the Mustard Seed of Central Florida phone (407) 875-2040 may be a good option for your town.

Re: Prince Georges County Salvation Army
Some options and programs include:
United Communities Against Poverty (UCAP) is the Community Action Agency (CAA) phone 301.322.5700. They offer rent and mortgage help, and debt assistance counseling.
Department of Social Services offer Prince George families access to government programs, including rent, section 8, and shelter and tenant housing/assistance. More info can be found here.

Salvation Amry does operate in FL. I lived in SW FL and I Know they are all over Fl...Look in the yellow pages. They are very helpful and offer help to those who qualify with food, cloths(sometimes) holiday help, summer camp(My daughter went to an overnight camp(her first expirience and LOVED IT) for a wk at ZERO cost to me...I would recommend calling 411 and asking in your local area..there is also cathoic charities and st vincent depaul in most areas of FL as well..Hope this helps.
