Hello. I’m writing this message anonymously because it’s very hard for me to open up about this. I’m in a critical financial situation — overwhelmed with credit card debt, my score is dropping and unable to cope on my own.
Fear, anxiety, and sleepless nights have become part of my daily life. I’m not asking out of laziness or bad choices — I’m truly struggling. If you’re able to offer even the smallest support, I would be deeply grateful. Or tell me what the government can do for me or anything at all? Every little bit matters. Kind words also mean the world to me right now.
Thank you to everyone who read this. It’s compassion and kindness that keep me going.
Is there a government program for getting better credit scores?

Re: Is there a government program for getting better credit scores?
Hi,
Thanks for the long message, but we just skimmed it. As far as the government helping with credit scores - no. Of course not. Credit scores and ratings are controllable by every individual American. Do the right thing...live within means, pay your bills on time, etc.
But there are not profits that may help, that the government "certifies" as being resources. Find the government approved free credit counselors.

Is there a government program for getting better credit scores?
To whom it may concern:
I have unfortunately found myself in a situation I never thought I would be in. I am going to briefly explain my situation and how we got into such dire straits and wrecked out credit so as not to take up too much of your time. I have been renting for 10 plus years, and William s my roommate who is currently not working either, but i am interested in government assistance for myself to fix my credit onl;y moving forward.
I am on disability due to a heart pump that only pumps 20%. I have an ICD implant. My rental has well water. The landlord at the very beginning made known that the water is tested and treated yearly and is fine to drink, but over the years, it has gotten progressively worse, so I requested to have it tested. The the DEP requested permission from my landlord and with his permission they tested our water....my landlord is wealthy and has gas drilling going on at the back our our property behind his home, so DEP agreed it needed tested. The test came back positive for high levels of coliform, slime, and various other bacteria, and it is not safe to drink.
There are other various dangerous repairs that needed done at this property and my landlord was not doing any of the work. So I decided to put the rent money in escrow at which time he was notified verbally at which time he produced a eviction notice (I believe it would be considered Retaliatory Eviction) which stated he no longer wanted to barter for rent I then provided him with a written notice and he took me to the magistrate.
My case did not get heard at the magistrate as I believe the landlord and the magistrate grew up together. I was also advised to call the code enforcement officer but he did not respond either to numerous phone calls on office phone and cell phone and I believe that's due to the same reason. My case is now at the courthouse and I don't believe that it will get heard by the board due to the fact that I could not find an attorney until now. No one was interested in representing me to fix my credit scores or with my issues, and he did not send his answer to my claim / appeal to me certified or registered and I did not receive it. So we did not enter a response and my attorney said they are moving for a dismissal and there's nothing he can do. In a panic I started looking into my credit report which I have not done in a couple years. My credit report consists of $2,688 in collection accounts. I have no revolving credit and no loans my experian score is 570.
I have been working with Lexington Law for the past 2 months and In the meantime I have been trying to acquire a form of revolving credit in a credit card but I am in need of $95 to secure the credit card from First Premier Bank in order to activate and use for items I already need and then I will pay the bill to establish 1 form of revolving credit. I do not have any money whatsoever because I was also trying to apply at the same time for a small loan and my accounts were compromised by a hacker. I am in terrible trouble, my checking account is -400.00, and the bank will not cover it because I voluntarily gave my banking information for what I thought was a direct deposit, they are charging me daily. My health has gone downhill, I'm supposed to limit my stress due to my heart but I'm finding this to be an impossible feat. I am embarrassed by the situation I am in and I hate to even be sending this email but I am sending it and hopes that there may be some type of government program that would be able to financially help me with acquiring a little better credit quickly by possibly a government grant or loan that would allow me to pay off my collections that are on my credit report and offering me some help to get my bank account and my bills back on track.
My whole goal was to improve my credit and due to no fault of my own I'm destroying it. I would like to buy a home and I found some that I felt were affordable, but I'm between a rock and a hard place. I've even tried to apply for remote work, but my laptop doesn't meet the requirements as its out of date. I don't know where to turn. If there is any way for anybody to offer me any guidance or any financial assistance I do not have a problem paying back, I would just be so thankful and so appreciative for any help offered at this point please let me know via email. Time is of the essence as I have more daily bounce fees and small bills newly aquired coming out of my account electronically such as afterpay for an example which I utilized to fix my credit and now it is going to hurt my credit. I'm left with only one option, and its nothing new, these days I'm just on my knees praying a little more often than usual, I'm quite sure he's probably ready to block me.
Thank you so very much for your time and consideration. I will be eternally grateful for any assistance you can give me in this
