My wife and I are moving into an apartment in Vernon NY. On the 3rd of the month. We have nothing to sit or sleep on and the only income we have is my social security check that I get on the 3rd of the month. We both have children from a previous marriage that we love very much and want to stay in this place with us on weekends but we need furniture and a place for them to sleep. Furniture adjustable beds for 7 kids and myself. We also need bedding, household supplies, Christmas toys, clothes for 7 kids and myself ages 9 months to 13. I have six girls, one boy new to Atlanta. I paid someone $1300 (my last money) to move us here and he ran off with my entire U-Haul truck and my money I'm currently unemployed but still looking for work. Many of the assistance programs for free furniture are for people leaving a shelter like you. Also help for those with kids. So have that in your favor. Try the furniture banks or thrift stores we have listed on the site.

Oakland CA or Oakland MI? If Michigan, then try this for free furniture in Oakland County MI. There are items for babies, children, clothes, and other forms of assistance. Good for your daughter as well for getting herself and finding the courage to get out of an abusive situation.

It’s walking distance to shopping center, laundry centers, family style restaurants and the public family beach. She is so excited and I know she is going to succeed. The one thing she doesn't have is furniture. She took ALL the baby furniture but nothing for herself. I am wondering if you have anything that she can have for free or for a very small amount in the transitional supported home. She needs a bedroom set, kitchen set and some living room furniture. She is only looking for a twin or double bed. The bedroom is very small. And she doesn't have a bureau. Is there any help she can get?

Maybe, since she is in a supportive apartment and the disabled woman's income is so low. She can try a thrift store for free furniture vouchers. For the working poor, who have a very low income, they may be able to help her. Free furniture, appliances, and other items are offered.

I am a P.C.A. working for a disabled women. She is currently living in an apartment but is unable to be her rent or get furniture. She is currently in a program (Supportive Living Environment) that just raised her rent $100. She was paying $300 a month. In March the program she is in told her she has to pay $400 now. She is on a fixes income of $1000 dollars a month from SSDI. This is now more than 30% of her income. On top of that the rent was raised $25. The total rent is now $825.
Is there any programs that she can apply for to help her pay the rent or free furniture? She is not currently being evicted yet.

Hello, I am a military surviving spouse. I have a ten year old son. We are moving into a one bedroom room apartment. We do not have any furniture I.e. bunk bed, couch, table and chairs, dressers, appliances, cook/silverware, towels, and bedding. We need Basic essentials for a home, especially a bunk bed. Hi, I have called a couple of days ago. I have 2 kids how need bunk beds, we currently live in Brockton right now. The house we are renting from was my mother, and she decided to move out of state and have me a week notice. She sold the house and didn't help me out one bit. Please I'm a single disabled mom on only 1010.00 in disability. I've been paying 700.00 for almost 2 years for section 8 home and I've been through so much with being a domestic violence survivor, homeless, car being stolen. Then about 3 weeks ago my world fell apart. I found bed bugs. I treated the home got rid of furniture. Then 1 week ago my neighbor who's verbally and mentally abusive to me called our landlord told him I had bed bugs, and parties and stuff well now I'm being kicked out have a month to month lease. So I have no way to save for the furniture with the little bit of money I get. So we will be homeless and I'm trying to prevent that. Please can you help us?

There are free furniture banks to apply at. Or try a low cost thrift store from say the Salvation Army. Many churches also give furniture, household supplies, etc.

I'm a part of the connection Inc. supportive housing and getting full custody of my oldest son and have no income was recently homeless. I have an apartment now. It is 2 bedroom through connection Inc. supportive housing.
The place needs dressers, living room set and a few other things for help. I have a bed in my room and one in my son's.
Everything else is needed it's really a struggle. I'm job searching now haven't had any luck with a job yet but I can get a referral if needed. I don't even have a cell phone I could receive calls on as of now I'm using a Wi-Fi app waiting for a state phone.

I am so desperate at this point my husband and I have 4 boys, I am pregnant again and we are losing our home. We have another place and are very grateful for that but we are having a hard time staying on top of the rent plus with school starting there are so many things the kids need for supplies, even including a bed and mattress.
I have 2 boys in high school; one in 9th grade, one in 10th grade then I have one son going into 1st grade. My oldest is all set. He is out of school. Not only that my youngest needs a bed. He does not have one.

There are free bed assistance programs, as well as places that try to help caregiver for grandkids. Also, if you need that amount of help, you need to call more than a furniture bank...as they can only do so much with the beds. So seek some support around town.
