Re: facing eviction and need rent help

Post by TrakP1 »

I got injured on the job while sheet rocking. Date of accident: 05/09/2011 Injuries : Right arm, Big toe, shoulder, and lower back Since the date of accident in New York City I got to see the knee doctor in May of 2011 when I had surgery in Dec of 2011 I just recently went to see knee doctor again and was told I need six more months of therapy if not he will have to do surgery again, an year has gone by and I finally got to see foot doctor just this month on Feb 16, 2012 where doctor place an cast on my foot. I have been walking around with an fraction on my big toe for the past few years. I got evicted from my Bronx apartment due to non payment from insurance carrier ( Amtrust ) around the same time I had knee surgery and had to relocate to South Carolina. As an child I lived in the projects and grew up on welfare. I have work very had not to depend on the working people and provide for my family on my own. I got an career became an union carpenter, and I am also an show carpenter for the New York Madison Square Garden. I have recently been cut off my benefits again! And was also told by lawyers that my payments have been reduce. I do not understand first they say payments should be according to how much you make in 40 hours. I already had an pay cut I was already getting way less then what I make when I am working. I was getting 1200.00 hundred every two weeks now they want to give 422.00 every two weeks. As an single mother of an disable little girl and another boy, this will not cover cost of living, keep in mind I do not receive any type of government assistance for my daughter, my son or myself. I have grown accustom to living a certain way in safe neighborhoods, clean environments , and better schools for my child. I refuse to have that taken away from me after I work so hard. Any advise would be greatly appreciated !

Many people have never applied for help before, so do not feel bad. Most trade skills, like electricians, still are in fairly high demand so it is just a matter of time for you. In the short term, find the Portland Oregon rent assistance programs and opportunities. We have a couple dozen agencies listed, and call them for grants, financial aid, case management, and other support and financial help.

I've applied to many online sites for jobs as well as going and putting in applications. I've called to check on my applications and emailed employers many times. Some companies said that they will be hiring in the near future but I haven't heard anything back from them yet. I've been doing electrical work for 11 years now and I don't understand why its so hard for me. I'm about to be evicted from the place I'm staying in Portland Oregon and I have a 4 year old son to look after. I'm a single parent and he means the world to me. I've already broke down cause I feel like I'm letting my son down and worry I won't be able to give him a good Christmas. I've never applied for help but I would greatly appreciate it now. Ill be more than happy to pay it back cause I know sooner or later ill be hired on somewhere. I'm not wanting a free way out but just a little help please! If anyone will help me I promise ill pay them back asap.

Call your utility company and see about a payment plan. Who is your utility provider in Buffalo NY? Here is information on agencies to call for rent help in Buffalo. Also try LIHEAP for your energy bills. Some agencies to call include Broadway Fillmore Neighborhood Housing Services Inc. - NHS, which only covers the city itself. Dial (716) 852-3130. Another non-profit is New Venture Housing Program - CAO, and their phone number is (716) 881-6277. Both offer rent and housing programs.

Well, we can't give you cash in form of $500 (we don't do that) we can give you information. Here is information on Suffolk County NY rental assistance programs and low income housing. Many programs do focus aid first on people with children, so you have that going for you. Some agencies are St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church/Bay Shore at phone number of (631)665-4911. Try them, and others that we noted in Suffolk NY.

While we do not know the guidelines to follow as most states are different, we know who may. Find rental assistance in Colorado Springs and the places to call for deposits, first months rent, and general advice and guidelines that you may need. There are a number of low income housing programs, for elderly, working poor, people with kids, and most everyone else too. Call agencies like the Northern Churches Care at 227-7470 or the maybe also try dialing the Eastern El Paso Community Center at 719-347-2976. Both are some of the leading housing non-profits to call in El Paso and Colorado Springs.

We also applied for and receive Colorado county benefits in the form of foodstamps, cash aid, and medical. As this helps tremendously it is just not enough to cover our bills and rent. We spent the last of our money to pay a deposit and rent on a place for our family. During this time I had been obtaining small odd jobs to help make ends meet. We fell short of our goal and had to make a extremely difficult decision to either pay our car payment or the monthly rent. For the children's sake and out of fear of becoming homeless again we couldn't afford our car payment which resulted in a repossession. Now we ARE facing homelessness again as we have no transportation to and from work or to and from school for our kids. My wife currently walks about 1 hours twice a day to get to work adding 2 hours to her work day. The kids and I walk several miles to school and this type of situation is not working for us. We DO NOT want money or a free car or an easy way out, we just need some guidelines to follow for housing help in Colorado Springs or a direction we need to go. We a very afraid of becoming homeless again and losing all that we have worked so hard to preserve. Thank you for your time reading our story, I hope to find some direction and get back on track towards a successful future.

You don't really want to use a payday loan to pay rent. That will start you off in a bad cycle. You did not list your state or county, so our reply can't be too specific as most programs are local. So try doing this to find phone numbers for non-profits, charities, and assistance programs. Follow this link for state assistance programs. Scroll midway down the page. Select your state. After choosing your state, read about programs and scroll down to pick your county and/or town. Try assistance before a loan.

i've gotten a letter saying they will contact a lawyer, but i'm not sure whether they already have. to make matters worse, the rental company recently changed, so the new guy collecting money is a stranger to me -- i don't know him or what he'll do. i sent him a pleading email, explaining my situation, but i'm not sure what'll happen.

please, can someone help me? i'm single and have no family to speak of. my friends have married and moved on and i am SERIOUSLY at a dead in. i can pay back any loan starting in october, but i just need help with this bump over the hill. thank you in advance. renee...

Look into a lawyer to deal with those traffic ticket fees. You need to pay your rent before dealing with a fee. $60 month just will not cover it. But as far as your rent in Phoenix Arizona goes, try this for our listing of rental assistance in Phoenix. We have listing of dozens of agencies, non-profits, charities, and government programs to call, like one being Community Housing Partnership Phoenix which can be reached at 602-253-6905.
Zuckenberg wrote:To Whom it may concern, I am looking for help in regards to prevent eviction from my apartment that I have had for over a year now in Phoenix Arizona. Last month I had to pay on an old traffic ticket from 8 years ago which landed up being $544 and I still have about another $100 to pay for late fees. I am currently on SSI & SSDI and get only $689 a month, $525 of that goes towards rent and about another $200 towards bills and necessary home products; laundry, shampoo, the necessities. That leaves me about $60 or so to live on for a month. I do get food stamps and that helps. I also have been through some major medical problems over the past year and back in Jan of this year I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic along with other minor things. It has been hard to get it under control, but I am improving. My doctors do not have me cleared to get back to work. I have going to DHS in Ypsi and a normal SER application is suppose to be reviewed in ten days, well I was told there is a major back load and that it can take as long as 30 days. How is that suppose to help me. Thank you, I'll be looking for help and suggestion as the property manager is willin to work with anyone that is willing to assist.

Good you are working to try to make ends meet, and family is good to help too. Have husband keep calling and trying to get a job. In the meantime, like into rent and general employment and credit counseling from HUD agencies. Most offer free services and advice to the low income. They operate in every state.

We can only reply via email or in this forum. Do not accept phone calls. But there are options in Toledo Ohio and Lucas County. First you need to worry about your home before those college grants. Look into the Toledo Ohio assistance programs, like the Economic Opportunity Planning Association of Greater Toledo, Inc. at 419) 242-7304. Or call another Lucas county non-profit, the Christ the King Church which has limited financial assistance. Phone (419) 475-4348. Both may have emergency rent help, and of course use the link I sent too.

Here are the places to call for rent help in Westchester. Charities and non-profits like the Westchester Department of Social Services (phone 914-813-6000) has a housing grant program, and also try a local church, the Grace Church Community Center, for information and possible financial aid. 914-949-3098
