Hi,
My name is Alexandra. I’m 32 years old and have recently just been the victim of a crime. My debit and ID were stolen, and a man broke into my apartment and stole my television, computer and 2 phones. I need help bad. I made a police report with the city of Miami.
They never tried to arrest him and called it a domestic issue because he insisted that we were a couple even though I had told him I was not interested in a relationship with him. He held me in my apartment for 2 hours and violently terrorized me at knife point until I was able to run from the apartment bleeding and shaking.
The traumatic experiences this man had continuously caused for over two weeks left me in a crisis situation where I’ve been forced to leave my home I had managed to rent happily and peacefully until he started the stalking and violent rampages breaking into my apartment by busting out 3 windows and then breaking through my lock using a tool or knife has left me with no money, debit card charges, missing electronics and contacts which had numbers I could get pet sitting and dog walking gigs for supplemental income while I searched for another vet tech position.
I was laid off from my job at saint Francis 24 hr. animal hospital in Miami after I was hospitalized myself in ICU for losing consciousness and going into a coma due to a rare genetic protein and blood disorder that doesn’t allow my body to process protein the same as most people. I’ve also been diagnosed with a pseudo tumor in my brain and have an appointment in November with a neuro-optometrist at Bascom palmer.
Stress is the one thing that aggravates this literal swelling of the brain with fluid. And traumatic head injury I’ve experienced as well. On top of that I found out I had contracted hep c when I started attempting to overdose myself with heroin, so I’d die. It was a dark time. I had been in an extremely abusive relationship for 3 years and decided I’d rather sleep on the street than with an abusive stockbroker I also worked for in an ocean front condo we lived in.
My father and I are estranged. He beat me so badly while drunk and on a cocaine binge when I was age 19 that he broke 5 bones in my back which severed my sciatic nerve and left me virtually unable to walk until a surgeon took out the pieces of bone. My mother is working so hard to help me with what she does help me with, which is about 100.00 a week. I
desperately need some kind of financial or credit assistance as I’ve never had a cc and only in the past year started using bank debit. She has little time to really see me or talk often on phone and I can’t always rely on her for my moments of crisis. It’s been difficult to find work - my license is suspended due to an unpaid speeding ticket and some other fines and fees totaling about 900.00. I can’t even get a driving job now without getting a valid license, a used car and auto insurance plus tag. I feel like I’m desperately trying to swim out of this riptide of financial pressure and keep get swept out to sea further.
I’m waiting for EBT to process my application which could take up to 30 days. I’m ashamed to say that I’ve had to steal food from the grocery store a few times to be able to eat something. I’m trying very desperately to find some help or resources that will help me get back on my feet and with a steady paying job. My felony convictions from 6 years ago make a lot of jobs unable to hire because I don’t pass a background check that’s required. Please help me get some emergency assistance or enroll in a way to work plan or something asap. Thank you so much. Again, my name is Alexandra in the city of Miami.

there are resources for both Miami as well as the greater Dade County area. Both have programs for new moms. they have free furniture for apartments, financial aid, food, and more for moms and kids as well.

I am a soon to be new mom and just moved into a little apartment in Miami for me to bring my baby home to. My boyfriend and I have both been working, but my job has been cutting my hours for several month, so finding a place to live has been challenging.
I recently applied for unemployment and have been denied, we don't get food stamps, or cash assistance and I only get a little bit of WIC, we don't know how we are going to pay the rent while I'm home with the new born. My due date is October 15th, but she could come anytime, we are looking for any kind of help. My boyfriend is also looking for another part time job, and I have been looking for another job since April with no luck and I really can't take a new job now just weeks away from delivery.
We want to stay in our place in Miami and really have nowhere to go if the rent does not get not get paid. The rent is 500 a month, even half of that would help so much. We are so grateful for everything we get and really just need help for the month of October until I can get back to work.
