Re: What places in Niagara County help pay bills?

Hi, I found this email online stating you answer fairly quickly and help those in need. I'm facing unfair eviction and told I must leave my apartment by this Saturday for nonpayment. The issue is they say I didn't pay rent and went to court behind my back as well as never served me but left on my door. I paid in July, I have receipts, I never got court date so I could go too, ever and I'm supposed to be served I've heard and wasn't.
I need a legal aid lawyer’s help ASAP. I have 2 days to have an attorney answer to the courts for me, and I have nowhere else to go. I moved to Niagara NY in November, and this is all I have. I would very much appreciate it if someone could help me with this so please respond to me at your earliest convenience thank you for your time.

What places in Niagara County help pay bills?

Post by Whitney »

Good afternoon,
I'm desperate for help to pay my back rent I owe because I'm facing eviction. I also need food and other help with bills. I am a single mom of an 8 year old boy who I'm currently in family court seeking custody from his father who has turned into a monster for lack of a better title and to sum it up best I could quickly.
However, I found myself in a really hard situation as I'm currently going through the disability benefit process and working with a lawyer to hopefully get approved soon. But for now, all I can get max is $411 from the department of social services for rent and $290 in food stamps. I have lived at my current address for a little over 3 years and it is the safest, best area and apartment for the price I'm being charged $625 a month.
But I went several months w out paying any rent, so my landlord has given me an option to pay an additional $275 a month on top of my full rent every month or move out. The department of social services said they could only pay a portion of what I owed, still leaving a significant balance. I have been doing anything and everything I can to just make the full months’ rent but it's impossible for me to come up with anymore. I don't know what else to do anymore to pay my bills and survive. I've tried everything in Niagara County I could find and have been denied or told there's no funds available.
My son needs me to be at my best right now and I'm going to fail him if I can't figure this out because the court isn't going to give me custody if I get evicted. PLEASE HELP?! Or point me in the direction of somewhere that may be able to help. I live in North Tonawanda (Niagara County) New York.
