Utility service deposit

Recently no moved to Humboldt, TN and are trying to get our electric cut on, the required deposit is $260. After paying all that we have securing a place to stay, the expenses of moving our stuff to Humboldt from Lexington, rent deposit, etc....we haven't been able to come up with money the for the utility deposit. Been without lights and AC for 3 days now. Do you offer assistance of these kind of problems? If not, could you point me in the right direction?! Please and thank you. -ROBYN

If you have a job for paying future energy bills, then you can look into some of the deposit assistance programs. They can even help people with little or no money....but you really need a future income to support yourself.

While it does not always occur, sometime Washington LIHEAP will pay for a deposit. now is also the time to enroll...as most programs open up on October 1. There is a toll free number to dial to try for information on electric deposit help.

My 8 year old daughter and I left our home with my husband who was physically and verbally abusing me and verbally abusing my daughter. In rare cases LIHEAP can pay utility deposits. But it really depends on your state, income, and whether or not you can pay future utility bills on your own. Having kids will also assist in your application process for deposit help. So try LIHEAP in your county.

Need an old electric bill paid and deposit for power to be turned on. I have lived in my home with my three children for a little over a year ,due to managements mistake unfortunately now I am to get my power on in my name in 72 hours or we have no home! If you can't afford the electric bill in Connecticut, how can you possibly plan on keeping up with the rent and other bills? Especially if you have 3 kids. You need more long term support, so maybe try a budgeting or payment program in the state. I live in Hesperia, CA. I recently have been told that the store where I work will be closing by the end of April. I AM A SINGLE MOM OF TWO GIRLS...we have been living with electric, but no gas. Where I live at if you have never had service with the gas company here , you need to pay a deposit of nothing less than 250.00.

Well I work hard and long hours..12 am to 8:30..I paid the bill I just couldn’t afford the deposit..(even in payments)..so they disconnected me in January...after a year I moved. But after another year I moved back, seeing my apartment was available again...the thing is we have electricity, but no gas. I live in the high desert where nights can get freezing.
