I had sent an e-mail to Catholic Charities of Trenton, and Stacey Harris has directed me to you. Below is a copy of the e-mail. Thank you and please contact me at your earliest convenience.

I'm not sure if Catholic Charities can or will help, or which chapter I should send this to...so I ask that if I'm in the wrong place to please forward it accordingly. Thank you. I live in Seaside Park but was displaced for 4 months after Hurricane Sandy. I was able to come home near the end of August. During that time I needed knee surgery (in May) which kept me out of work for 5 months, and I had returned to work in August. There are problems with this Seaside Park home that I'm renting and it's forcing me to relocate my family. I found a house that will be ready for July 1.

My problem is this...in the new house I'm required to put the utilities in my name and I found out that I have an outstanding electric bill from 2006. The electric company will not let me have service until I pay this bill in full ($569.77). I simply don't have enough money for that after the security deposit and first month's rent for the new place. Is it possible that Catholic Charities can help me with this outstanding electric bill so my family and I can move forward? I have attached a copy of the electric bill. Thank you for your time.

Holiday Easter greetings!
I wish it was in better circumstances I write to you. I am 26 years old and I have a 15 month old daughter. We are seeking emergency assistance with our SMUD bill. We have been without power for 2 days. We are finally getting on our feet after leaving my abusive husband (last year). In moving to our own house I found out my ex husband ran up a SMUD bill for nearly $300 in my name. SMUD has refused to accept payments on this sum or help at all. Which brings us to our current situation. Do you offer any programs that help with emergency utility restoration?

Assistance with initial utilities deposit of $150.00. We had money for apartment rent and deposit, but had to pay 130.00 on an existing bill under my name. The utilities would be under my fiancé’s name, which does not have an outstanding balance. I’ve been off work all week with flu and will not receive a check next week. We have a 4 year old daughter that is my major concern. We have a place to live that has been secured by payment, but are at a standstill until we are able to get the electric turned on.

I just moved to Raleigh North Carolina from Durham NC a few days ago. When I went to put the power on I was told that it would require a deposit of $300. I was unable to do so my 3 children & I are staying with a friend until I'm able to figure something out. Today my friends landlord told her that my kids & I have until Friday to get out. I need the deposit so I can go home. Please, if there is anything that can be done, I'm open to suggestions..

I have just moved to a new address in Ohio with my son and we are in need of help with the power bill deposit. I have spent all my money to get our new home and have no way of getting the power cut on for maybe another month. My son goes to school and he needs a way to eat shower and sleep. If there’s anyway possible you might be able to help us with the 250 dollar deposit to Duke energy we would gladly appreciate the time and consideration in this matter. Thank you and have a great day.

I just moved into a small small home from a big big home and carried the light bill over to my new place so I been playing catch up on two bills since January 1st. 2012. I just kicked my grown kids out of the house so i am struggling a little bit on my own. I know its no excuse not to pay my bill in full but when my kids need me to help them with they bills to stay out of my house. I sacrifice myself and do that so i guess i deserve to sit in the dark if i am put my kids first. I am not a bad person. I don't do drugs or drink i just give my money to my kids. Thats my addiction!! My bill is $648.00. I paid 80.00 on that bill on 8/1/2012. My lights have been off since 7/31/2012.

Good afternoon, i found you info on the internet and I am a disable veteran. My son and I just recently move to Las Vegas, NV because the economy was bad in Arizona, but after moving here and having to pay rent and security deposit for the apartment we are faced with deposits for the utilities and just recently found out that both are social security have been decreased. At this point we are faced with this deposits and bill as well, I have no where to turn and looks like the car that I am trying to keep just in case I need to go to a hospital will probably be repossessed. Please help me with whatever info you can. My son lives with me to help me out due to my disabilities in mobility. Please advise of where i can go to get help. Thank you so much for your attention to this matter. Sincerely

I am in dire need of assistance paying a required deposit of $302.22 to have my new electric service placed in my name as demand from landlord. I am on disability for recurrent ovarian cancer, am 56 soon to be 57 years old and live alone. My income is $1,420.00 per month. I don't think I will have any problems paying my monthly bill but I cannot save the required deposit for at least 1-2 months and need the service placed in my name asap per landlord. Please advise me if you can help me at all. I would be willing to pay you a small sum monthly in event you can loan me the money that the electric company requires. I would be forever grateful and look forward to a quick response. Thank you so very much for any assistance you can offer.

It sounds like your needs are extensive and can include rent, child care, utilities, and the like. Yes, keep trying to overcome this latest challenge too. As you work through it, find more Pima County Arizona assistance programs and resources that may be able to help you and your children. They may have limited funding for utility deposits for Arizona families too.

It really depends on exactly where you live if you really need help. As we say all the time assistance programs are local by nature and you need to call charities, churches, and agencies in your local area. In the meantime find a listing of assistance for electric bills and get some high level details on programs.

My husband is the only one working and we are on food stamps. My unemployment ran out so we just have the one income. gas deposit is 105 cause of it being 75 plus 25 fee and electric is 25.

Are you receiving any child support, and is husband or ex just not paying it. If so then always look into legal action. You can use that child support to help pay the utilities. As far as other ways to get utility help in Tennessee, there are agencies and charities in every town. Find Tennessee assistance programs and agencies to call for help for bills, advice, and consultations. We even have information on free legal aid and attorneys can help for things like unpaid child support.

But i only have 80 dollars to my name and i have called a complete list of churches and have drove from church to church and contacted Upper Cumberland in my town, McMinnville TN and nobody has any funds to donate. I am in serious need of help my landlord let me move in for free and gave me the first week for free and water is included i only need around 90 dollars to turn my power on and after that should no longer need any assistance. I am trying to get my GED and attend a hygienist school after i get my ged i just really need help starting out with a fresh slate.

Check with the local churches. Also, see if there is a township trustee. They will usually help one time with some of your bills. Good luck and God Bless

A program was created from federal stimulus dollars that is known as the rapid rehousing and homeless prevention. While it does mostly focus on providing rent help, one little known a aspect of it is it can provide money to pay utility security deposits for people first moving in. Try it. Call your local community action agency, Salvation Army, or county government. More info on the program, and agencies to call, are on the site here.

Ok I really hope you can help me. My boyfriend and I are moving into our new place and we need to get our electric turned on, but the electric company wants us to pay past due amounts on electric from previous places of residency and also pay money for the deposit for the account. I went to a couple assistance places and they all told me the samething. They all said they
can not help due to the fact my electric is not already on and I do not have a shut off notice. If you can, please please help me

Here are various utility and assistance programs for Grand haven Michigan. These agencies should be able to refer you to programs to pay utility and energy bills, as well as other expenses and bills that you may be incurring.

We moved into the park in June 2010 and the park had the electric in there name. Consumers Energy required a $50.00 deposit to turn the power on into my name. We have yet to come up with this deposit money and therefore, Consumers turned off our electric. I am seeking emergency assitance from anyone. Please contact me at 616-796-4681. Thank you, Sarah
