Re: need help finding rental property

Post by WilliamWallace »

Currently live in Gaston County, looking to find a rental property for my elderly mother in and around the Gaston or Charlotte area. Needs to be affordable and in a safe neighborhood.
She would need rental assistance and I was wondering if there is a website of rental properties that are available. Also does the rental assistance program allow the individual to select a house no matter where it is located and then based on monthly rental get rental assistance for that property?

Wow. I think a couple issues, comments. One is the landlord can't refuse to fix the place saying they have no money. That is illegal. You can take legal action against them. Here is information on free legal aid and assistance in Oregon. Sounds like your income may qualify you.

As far as finding a new, better apartment, I think try a HUD agency, or maybe section 8. Not only can they help you find new housing or cheaper apartment, but they can also help you deal with issues like improving your credit and getting your financial condition back on track. Here is a listing of agencies in Oregon and Portland.

I live in a house right now however the roof leaks the kitchen sink is broken only half the stove works, the garage floods so all of our stuff is in dining and living room. landlords refuse to fix problems because they say they have no money. We eat out most of the time because we can't cook or do dishes. I think there is lead in the piping because the water killed our guinea pigs in less than four months. Our cat is now sick and I have resorted to having to buy gallans of water instead. we don't have enough to come up with deposits to move and we drive an hour and half to work one way.

I can't do apartments because of my 5 year old she is too active and would drive a downstairs tenet crazy. I am afraid to bring a new born into house because of the health problems we are having. we have been sick since we moved in. I keep checking creiglist but everything in our price range is an apartment or doesn't allow pets. Is there a place I can go to seek rental? I have clean driving record and no criminal history as well as my husband, however our credit is horrible since I got laid off we have defulted on many medical bills as well as student loans now my husband is being garnished and our taxes are being taken by the government so we can't use those to move either. We need help desperatly. Giving up our animals is not an option they are as much a part of our family as our children.
