Re: Check question for Salvation Army
I'm in need of help with repairing my truck please and can the Salvation Army please issue me a check for it? I have had it looked at and been told the motor is bad. The cost for a new motor is $3,200 and it will be about $500 to get someone to put it in for me. I have been without a car now for about 2 months and I am a single mom with a full time job and live about 10 miles out of town so a check from the Salvation Army would do much. I have tried every other route I can think of this is a last resort I'm praying for help from, I do not know what else to do.
Re: Salvation Army
Hello Salvation Army,
My power is going to be turned off on the 26th, I begged the power company to give 4 more days but they will not. I have 11 dollars to my name I’m not even sure how I’m going to get to work the rest of this week, I have been in the hospital twice for a week both times and I have been struggling to pay those bills as I have no insurance. My boyfriend of 10-years can’t find steady work and does “side” handyman jobs when he can get them. He got a “side job going to make him 1,800 dollars, but the people decided not to move forward with the work, at that point I had already paid extra money towards my medical bills and now I’m in big trouble. I have no one I can turn to, I have NO family anymore. I also have to pay a full mortgage payment and one half by end of this month. I have been doing everything I can working overtime, to scrimping, save money, and earning any extra money I can. I even wash my neighbor’s cars this weekend … I go without dinner at least 3 night a week, I don’t know what else to-do I am hanging on to my last rope . You guys help me out one other time about 15 years ago. Please call me if I don’t answer it’s because I’m working, please leave a message and I will call you back ASAP.
Bless you and thank you Salvation Army for your time,

I was a Salvation Army volunteer
Hi
My name is Rebecca and I have volunteered for the Salvation Army in Australia. I am writing as there is a lady I have been counselling online in Oregon Washington County who is in immediate crisis. She has physical injuries and is being evicted by her mother in law, her husband died not long ago and she is on disability because of her injuries. She has serious emotional and mental health needs along with physical injuries. It has become urgent that she receives some legal advice and medical assistance. Her name is Donya. She is in Oregon Washington County. This has become urgent as her physical injuries are preventing her from making contact with healthcare providers and her financial situation since her husband has passed
has become dire. Her home address is
Beaverton Oregon 97005
If I did not feel that this was an urgent situation I would have started the ball rolling from my local Australian branch of the Salvation Army and reached out that way.
I don't know what else to do as the phone number that I have given you is also being disconnected by her mother in law in the next 24 hours.
Can you please urgently contact Donya, whether a Salvation Army volunteer or someone else. If anything can be done to assist her please do. This is my email address in Australia and my phone number is here and do not worry about time differences, I am happy to be contacted at any time to provide any help I can. I have some concerns that she may self-harm as she has previously.
Thank you and know I appreciate any assistance very much you can provide,

Re: Salvation Army not giving back
There is a Victorville Salvation Army. And they "give back" when they have resources to give back and when the applicant is qualified. No one is entitled to any assistance other that that. Also ask your water company for a payment plan. Find more on Salvation Army in San Bernardino County.

Re: Information on family clothing from Salvation Army
Good morning,
My name is Lossy and I just moved to Jacksonville North Carolina and am looking for help for clothes and more from the Salvation Army. I was wondering if there was any programs that help with utility bills, rental assistance, food, clothing and medical insurance. I’m not really sure where to look in my area other than the Salvation Army. My fiancé and I are trying to get into the process of moving. I’m currently pregnant, have a dog and living in a house that’s under foreclosure. We are trying to get out of our current living situation into a more stable place of living and looking for all the help that we can get. Hope to hear back, thanks.

Re: Money for energy bills from Salvation Army programs
Good afternoon, I am trying to find out where I can apply for utility assistance through the Salvation Army. I live in Homewood, IL and according to the page, the location for me to apply is at Bloom Township Center in Chicago Heights, IL. However, when I contacted them to find out what was needed to apply, I was told that they have not received passwords to get into the system, so they could not assist me with energy bills. Since this intake site is down right now according to them, is there any other location I can go to apply to for money for my energy bills instead that will take me out of the area they generally service? Please let me know about the Salvation Army energy bill programs. Thank you so much. Have a great day!

Re: Salvation Army not giving back
Good Morning, I am sending this email to request for information to obtain assistance in order to pay a past due balance on my utility bill. it seems like the Salvation Army is not giving back to me. I am not sure where I would need to go to get a referral, nor do I know the agency that I am supposed to contact in a situation such as this, other than The Salvation Army.
I am aware that with the SA, a referral is needed from the utility company in order to receive assistance. Is there any way that you could assist me with this? What information would I need to provide? I thank you in advance for your help in this matter.Respectfully,Margot Pittman

Information on family clothing from Salvation Army
Hello, my name is Jeff and I'm looking for information on assistance with clothing for my family. A couple months ago we became homeless and recently relocated from new Martinsville WV to Wheeling WV. When we lost our home most of our clothes and possessions hot ruined or lost. We now are faced with the changing seasons and we do not have the necessary clothing for fall and winter. Some of the kids don't even have pants just shorts me included some only have samples instead of tennis shoes. We're currently living in Salvation Army transitional housing trying to get back on the right path to be self-sufficient but we're limited to getting work or kids going to school because we really don't have the family clothing we need. We have kids that don't have backpacks for school also
I was told a church member that they thought the Salvation army could help us with these issues. Like I said we currently reside in Wheeling WV Ohio county. If you could get back with me and let me know if you do help with issues like ours is greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Re: Does Salvation Army offer volunteers for plumbing
I am living with my daughter. I can get a trailer if I can come up with $500 to pay for the plumbing. Or does the Salvation Army volunteers help there? I can get in my own trailer. I have my 3 year old granddaughter. I had a stroke so I'm not able to talk on phone. They said to get electric in my name it will be $175, to get water in my name is $125, and plumbing is more. I'm Van Buren Missouri which is Carter County. There is a Salvation Army center, but will those volunteers help me with pipes and plumbing? I just separated from my husband so I only got $530 on SSI my check will go up to $735 if I can get help I can pay my rent monthly.

Salvation Army services for those on SSDI disability
I was told by a colleague that Salvation Army or an organization that works closely with the Salvation Army helps persons on medical assistance disability participate in financial counseling to establish how much people on medical assistance need to make to A) sustain benefits, B) make enough to find a livable wage while maintaining benefits.
I have a client on SSDI who is finishing college and on disability who wants to get off disability but worries about how she will function in a job and is very concerned about losing a job and then also losing her health care.
Can you tell me if there is a nonprofit that provide financial counseling for clients?

Salvation Army not giving back
Good evening
I write to you on behalf of my sister who lives in Marion Virginia but has an outstanding electric bill from Wythe County. My sister was recently awarded a low income apartment with her developmentally challenged grandson whose mother is incarcerated and whose father is a drug addict. The child has no one but her and she has stayed with family members and friends- taking him wherever she can find a safe and warm place for them- while awaiting the decision on their new home. She has called the Marion VA Salvation Army several times seeking help. She has nothing - not even a bed for him to sleep in.
She needed help with the deposit and was rudely told by the man who does intake "we can't help you here". She was able to gather the funds through family members. She has no bed for her grandson and once again called the same man who does "intake" that "we can't help you here" and finally she called once more seeking help to pay an old utility bill so the electric could be switched to her name - spoke to the same intake man in Marion VA begging for help and he said.... Yep you guessed it "we can't help you here". So today I called on her behalf and I spoke with the rudest person I had ever imagined would work for the Salvation Army! I have donated many things to SA and given $ as well and I never in life thought my family member would not only be turned down for help with her grandson but by someone so rude. They did not give to us in our time of need. As soon as I called - my phone has an out of state area code - he said "we can't help you here because you are from out of state". This was before I even ASKED for help!!!! Can you imagine!!!??? Because I can't say I would have my job for more than one day if I spoke to ANYONE like this on the phone. Make an anonymous call yourself and see what I've written here is true.
I couldn't believe it and when I asked to speak with someone else he refused to give back to us. When I asked his first name he refused. I would like someone to please call me so she can get just a little "hand up" while she makes a safe home for that baby. It's just wrong all she has come through to be talked to that way and I'm not real happy about the way I was spoken to either. I need to speak to someone who can find it in their heart to treat her with just a little respect because we never know when our time of need will come.

Re: Salvation Army
Hello, I have one 3 year Old son. I've never been so down on my luck as I am this year, I'm not working, I'm looking for a job, I'm on welfare for the first time in my life, and I know I will not be able to get my son gifts for Christmas.
I've never ever signed up for any kind of Salvation Army programs before ever, so I have no idea how or where to go, I don't want much, just how to apply to get my baby a present on Christmas, that's all, please help me?
I had a falling out with my parents a long time ago so that's not an option for me, and I’m a single mother, with no help from his father, I’m renting a room from a friend so that I don’t have to take.
My baby to a homeless shelter run by Salvation Army, ha I need help please. I do realize that these things have to be done early and I may have missed my chance, in that case just let me know and I can try to figure something else out. Thank you so very much please contact me with any info, thanks.

Re: Want to report someone scamming the Salvation Army
We recently wrote a blog post about this type of issue. It is unfortunate, but it does occur. But you can't tell us this...nothing we can do. We do have all the contact information for the Salvation Army centers though, both nationally and locally. So try them, and find details on a Salvation Army store near you.
Reiner wrote:I recently found out that my ex-wife received financial aid from Salvation Army for her electric bill $800+.
I also found out she received assistance from Goodwill for her water bill $400+ that wasn't paid since December.
She hasn't been paying the mortgage either and want to make sure she isn't taking advantage of something she should take care of on her own.
She receives $2300 from me per month and has had a gambling issue in the past.
What I am saying is she did it on purpose to take advantage of the Salvation Army's goodness.
Please question her thoroughly / make a note before offering any more money to "help".
Sincerely,

Re: Salvation Army
Dear Salvation Army,
I'm in dire need of assistance with Electric bill & basic food staples. I am single, 59 (60) in February. I live alone, have worked for my entire life beginning at the age of 12. I have been unemployed for 8 months & all my resources have been used up.
I am currently without transportation & my case worker with Snaps Program sanctioned my benefits, which I still do not understand why!! That means I can't reapply until the last week of January, if it is approved, I would have money on my SNAPS card by mid-February. I suffer from COPD as well (emphysema) I was a smoker for 35 years, however, I've been a non-smoker now for 11 years. I am on Albuterol inhalers & Spiriva once a day. I've been out of my medications for 6 months including HBP medicines. I have to walk everywhere I go, don't even have 1.50 for the bus & with my COPD, that becomes quite a chore! Could a case worker or someone please help me or at least point me in the right direction please?
I was married once for 23 years, divorced for 17 years, raised our 2 sons by myself, they were 14 & 13 when she left us. They are 33 & 32 now. Anyhow, I know y'all are busy & this is the 1st time I've ever reached out for any kind of aid, so bear with me, this is very awkward for me. I pray that y'all can help me in some form, shape, or fashion.
God bless y’all, hope your Thanksgiving was pleasant, Merry Christmas, & may 2016 be very Kind to You!
Respectfully & Sincerely,

Respectfully & Sincerely,
-

Re: Salvation Army
Here is the resource for you. It is a listing of statewide Salvation Army centers in Ohio. Read more.
But the issue is if your income is only $864 month, you need more long term help. As there are only so many places that may be options for you. Seek them out and apply.

Re: Does Salvation Army offer volunteers for plumbing
Hello;
My senior parents live in Lumberton, NC. They both are living in a home that needs flooring repairs, window repairs and plumbing repairs. They have very limited income and are in a mortgage loan payment. Can the Salvation Army help them? Their expenses each month does not allow for additional monies for repairs. I am the daughter and I live near them. Can you please direct me or assist me in helping my parents? Thank you,
