Re: Department Social Services not helping
To whom it may concern,
Tragically, my son, Jeremy has passed away in Florida Saturday evening. My fiancé, Charles and I are residents in Colorado and have 0 resources to get there and bury him. Social services here and in Florida is not helping with the burial. In fact, we are in process of listing his home for a quick sale due to prior tragedy and hardships, we had to have his father cremated recently, medical, psychological & physical, legal issues, etc. In conclusion we need assistance since DSS won’t help. Jeremy's father served our country in Vietnam Nam. Is it possible to find some resources to enable us to bury my son? Please advise.

Re: Social Services office
I lost my part-time job due to a back disability. Because it was only part time, I had already started falling behind, and now I am way behind.
DSS social services is willing to pay my Duke Energy bill. I am asking if you can help with my water bill. The water is through the City of Concord in Cabarrus County. I live outside the city but still have to pay for water service which social service not pay.
They are going to cut my water off.

Re: Social Services office
I need help my name is Paula. I am the 31 single mother with a nine-year-old daughter. I am considered homeless but I reside with my grandparents so that me and my child won't get on the streets from Social Services, but they don't help with anything else and they're not supportive in any way.
If it wasn't for my daughter I'd be on the streets and moved out here to help them and I became their live in maid caretaker and I take care of my daughter 24/7. I have a job but they're only giving me under 30 hours.
I have got my license after 12 years finally. I need help with a car and need help with housing and whatever else I get, I make like 400 a month my family my parents are both deceased and I have no siblings. My grandparents are my only close relatives they moved out here to retire and live next to my grandfather's sister and their family but we a child and I do not have a close relationship with any of them.
I have come a long way to become self-sufficient and independent for social services and my kids so I take care of my child but it's been a struggle and now Social Services is trying to take my SNAP away because they're saying that I'm making too much money when I'm only working under 30 hours. I have terrible credit that I'm trying really hard to work on. I'm actually working on that are started on that now as soon as I started working but it's going to take some time. Please contact me back and let me know what I can do and where I can go for help

Re: Looking for support from a social worker
I am disabled and unable to walk or drive at the present time, I am in need of help but was wondering if there were people available to help me navigate my way. Like a social worker who would evaluate and get me where I need to be? My bank has denied my claim of fraud from a man who stole from me and now taken my disability check leaving me in peril.
I am sorry if this is not the correct place to contact for a social worker. Perhaps you may know who I could contact? I've never asked for help so I am clueless and a bit confused. Thank you for your time.

Re: Looking for support from a social worker
My name is Tia. I am 28 years old and I have been in an ongoing battle to get my nephew who is 23 months old out of foster care. I hope a social worker can help me. Right now I’m in a bind where I need help paying my electricity bill so I can prove to the courts I can pay bills. I could really use your help. This has been a very stressful situation for me. I do live on my own but my previous home my sister didn’t help pay the bills. I feel disgusted know that could hinder Jayden from being reunited with me. If there is any way you could help me get this bill paid I would greatly appreciate it.
Re: Social Services office
Hi there. My family is hurting badly in just about every way you can imagine. We need help across the board from the social services office, and while it is hard to put aside my pride and ask... my children’s needs are what matter more than anything to me. We need Assistance with rent, water and electricity. Food and clothing. Gas and if possible help fixing a fuel issue that is causing our only car to run badly and leak out what little gas we can afford to put in it. (It's our only transportation to the one job our family has) also need help with summer childcare so that I might be able to get a job as well without every penny I make going straight to daycare. That is if I can find something to work from home or close enough to walk (I have epilepsy and try not to drive) also tuition assistance is something that would mean so much to us If possible, as of now it seems my youngest daughter has lost her scholarship and won't be able to return to her school in the fall unless we can come up with the tuition.
She loves her school and has done so well especially when doctors told us she was going to struggle (she was born 9 weeks early and so sick that they thought she wouldn't make it). She spent months in the NICU and more than twice that amount of time hooked up to an oxygen tank. This school has taken her in such strides it's a miracle! I hate to see her miss out because we can't afford it. Our family is struggling in just about every single way imaginable. My fiancés position was done away with so they transferred him to another location with a huge pay cut. His checks average about 500-550 or so less a month than they were and it's killing us. We really need help from a social service program. Please
Thanks in advance

Re: Looking for support from a social worker
There are social workers as part of the public assistance programs in Texas. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... tance.html
They can help you navigate the process, apply for benefits, get financial aid, and much more. Social workers can help support you.

Re: Department Social Services not helping
No money is available funds exhausted at DSS!!! I have called for several week spoke to case manager. Hello I am writing to you as my last resort. I am 35 years old have been married for 10 wonderful years 2 children and 3 step children. I had an American dream life! We did what every middle class family did sports, Vacations, Lake camping very active. My husband was a store manager for a retail chain bilo holding for many years worked his way all the way from a beggar.
We have 2 children together ages 10 and 13 both daddy’s girls to the extreme. He was there everything. It was February 2014 Brian came home from working the closing shift at work and I met him at the door he said he was not feeling well; his legs felt as if they were being shocked and it hurt! I told him maybe he just needed to get off of his feet some. He went to bed and woke up still in pain.
Several days later he said it was hard to lift his foot up or put any weight on his legs and he did not feel right. After several hours of negation I convinced him to go to the ER and let's check on it. We did and they took blood did x-rays. Was nothing major at all is blood cell count was elevated some inflammation is what the Dr. said so we said OK went home. Few weeks later same thing.
I was speaking with a family friend and they said it sounds like a neurological thing maybe go see a neurologist. So I made an appointment to see one that next week. I had no clue what to expect we went in he examined Brian. He was 350 lbs. 6ft 5 inches solid muscle.
I said well what is it he said we are not going to talk about it just schedule test and we did MRI cat scan and spinal tap. We did everything some test 2 times with every negative. We got the ALS probability was looking stronger. We were sent to a specialist in Winston Salem NC at the end of February we pulled up to the clinic and it reads ALS Clinic. I lost it with Department Social Services.
I had been on the computer and educated myself about this monster. He made me dry it up as he said and we went in several hours later several more test and several Doctors we got the news also. I was devastated. I knew it was terminal and 2-5 years at most. We left and did the 2 hour drive home me telling him they made a mistake now him. We told no one our kids are young he is there everything. By then beginning of March he was using a walker and he was placed on FMLA by his work because he was at a risk of falling! I worked a full time job also. The girls became use to him being at home.
By the end of September 2014 he was placed on long term disability. In November 2014 he was having issues breathing we stayed in the hospital for 15 days. Brian never walked again he became paralyzed legs and arms.
I quit my job in October to care for him all the time. I fed him changed him dressed him anything he needed done I was it. The girls would brush his teeth and feed him ice cream. They had to help me a lot giving up there play time are whatever. He never complained just the new normal. Brian had a strong faith and loved us so much.
May 16 2015 Brian woke me up at 745 and told me how much he loved me and always had and will. How strong of a woman I was and was so thankful that I took care of him and did not just throw him aside. I replied I told you I would never leave you and I want you are my soul mate. He smiled and said he was tired and was going to take a nap. That was the last words we ever said to one another.
Brian slipped into a coma and when I awoke he was in the stages of his body shutting down. I called 911. They came Dr Spoke with me and told me his diaphragm was closing and I needed to make a decision. Brian was at peace. He would not have wanted to be put on life support then at 1245 Brian passed away. Coming home telling my babies that was the hardest thing I have ever done. And then it hits me he is gone everything is gone I do not work and he made a salary of 80000.00 a year and with him being gone his long term is gone also what and how were we going to make it.
We had no savings left. Our out of pocket that also took from us was well over 60000.00 dollars. I had to set up a payment plan for the funeral. I am still fighting met life for insurance he elected different coverage in January when enrollment was available and got sick in March and they are giving me a fit. So we have nothing except survivor benefits. My rent has not been paid since he passed away, as DSS - Department Social Services not helping. I expect an eviction notice any-day now. I have no money for deposits to move and we only receive 869 for each of my girls.
I need help in the worst way. I finally got a job but I am already so far behind today my electric bill was due. It was 393 dollars. My paycheck was 411 cut off is at 5 today so I paid the bill I cannot get any help. I do not know what to do. My kids start school the end of the month. I cannot but clothes with what!! And they have always had these things. I cannot go buy a 5.00 pack of socks that's a gallon on milk and a loaf of bread. I do not know if you can help me or not but please let me know!! My landlord called me today and said I had to have rent month by the end of the week. Can you help me I have tried everything

Re: Department Social Services not helping
Public aid in San Francisco is part of the Cal-Fresh and Works programs. The government does help with food, housing, disability and more. Thy the Department Social Services. As you mentioned, if they do not still help, then ask them for referrals. That too may be an option for you to get out of the shelter.

Yes, the Norfolk DSS has limited resources. Also why is your girlfriend not working if you have missed work for a couple weeks? If you hurt your leg your partner needs to pick up the slack. But here is more details on what the county DSS does. http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... an_se.html

I can't have my kids homeless.

Re: Social Services office
You do not want to contact a church for social services. Each county has an office that processes public aid such as food stamps, TANF, and the like. It may actually be called Department of Social Services or DHS or something similar. This will be the place to apply at for public benefits, and they can walk you through the process.Squaker wrote: If there is someone at the church who could help me access social service, PLEASE send them my way.

Looking for support from a social worker
I am writing to you because I think mine is a special case.
I am 65 years old now living with an old friend here in Myrtle Beach, SC
I was living with my sister and her husband and 19 year old nephew
they lived in such a remote area that work was not to be found. I was
stuck. State of Texas helped me with food stamps, and my social worker helped me apply.
Two Sundays ago the 24 year old nephew burst into my room drunk and beat me up
telling and yelling at me that he wanted me out of the house. He left a
gash on my head a bloody nose bruises on my arm and a sore back. I am
still walking a bit slow. He said he was going to kill me and I was in
fear for my life.
A friend gave me 1000 dollars to get out of the home
and away from there and my friend here in south Carolina allowed me to
come live with him at 330 dollars a month. I paid him two months rent
and I am now out of money. I have until January before I can take
early retirement (if it is still available). I have no transportation
and without some sort of help. I will be homeless soon, I was afraid
to stay in the state and afraid of what the nephew might do to me if I
stayed but now that I am away if I can do something about his vicious
attack on me I will.
His abuse has been verbally constant and while he hit me a couple of
times before this time he drew blood and it took 3 people to pull him
off of me and his parents excused his actions by saying oh he was just
drunk.
Now I am left on the verge of being homeless. I still have my food
stamp card from Texas but wonder if I can still use it here?
My friend here got me a phone he is nice
and from now until October 1st I am set here in this home but it will not
be unless I can get aid from the state to cover 330 dollars a month
rent.
Is there any way you can help me or assign a social worker to help me? I am
still having trouble walking around and can't get to places to well I
am enclosing a copy of my Texas identification with my last
address on it. I would like to keep it confidential as to
where my location is as I fear he will try to come and do me bodily
harm and or kill me like he threatened. Maybe social services can help me the next 6 months until I can get
social security retirement. I am now 65 years and 7 months old.
p.s currently I have NO medical insurance.

Re: Social Services office
Hi, I don't know how things like this work but I'm so incredibly desperate for some help.
I have a 4 year old son that I'm required to pay child support to which was ordered through a court system that was completely one sided. I'll explain in detail later on if you'd like. It's a very long detailed story.
Anyways, I recently back in November lost my job. And finally was able to find a part time job about a couple weeks ago. But it doesn't nearly make enough to support my son or my daughter or any other necessities my family needs. I'm about to be late on my child support payments and cannot afford what I owe my attorney to help represent me in court to have it lowered. If I don't make my payments I could end up in jail. There's a lot more to this story and situation that I'll explain if need be.
My boyfriend has been paying all of our bills but more bills just keep coming. I'm so far in debt and cannot afford anything. We live with my parents who have been helping but they can no longer give us anymore money. They have used up all the savings they had to help support us.
I just don't know what else to do or who else to talk to. If there is someone at the church who could help me access social service, PLEASE send them my way. I can't emotionally or physically handle this stress any longer. It's beginning to affect my health at a young age. Please help me and my family.
I really hope to hear from you soon!

Re: Social Services office
Hi. We are in need if assistance. I was hoping that our financial situation would have changed by now but I am in the midst of a social security appeal. We currently receive snap benefits, Medicaid and have applied for cash assistance but were denied. Our only income is my fiancé social security disability which majority of it goes to our rent.
So according to their guidelines our income level is too high. As a result of this I have filed a complaint with the commissioner of the human resources administration and also am in the process of writing letters to the proper offices have these guidelines modified. In the meantime we are seriously behind with our electric bill. I have contacted the social services on here in Staten Island, but have had no luck. I have called at least three dozen times and have left well over two dozen messages.
Any information in regards to helping us would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Social Services office
I am a single mother of a 4 month old. I lost my job and am currently receiving public assistance from social services of 200/month however my rent alone is 400/month and utilities combined run around 300/month. I am looking for work at the moment but I need some help in paying rent in order to keep our residence. I have been here for over 3 years and I rent from family. Family has been making the payments however they are now in financial hardship as a result of this. There is an order for support however my daughters father has yet to make any payments.

Re: Department Social Services not helping
There are social service and public aid offered in southern California. The Los Angeles county region will support very low income families in San Fernando Valley as well. The 20 year wait seems extreme. Sorry, but hard to belie that, as I am sure you can understand. But look into some of the other LA County California public aid benefits. http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... tance.html

Re: Social Services office
We don't mail forms. You need to call around to the agencies in Payne County to apply. There are a number of places you can try to call for help. If you don't have a car, also try a bus or asking a friend for a ride. Those are some things to do if you truly want help...you need to take initiative. Anyhow, we have many resources and bill paying programs listed for Stillwater. Click here for details.
Re: Department Social Services not helping
I'm currently working only part time, and struggling to keep up with my rent and other bills, which I'm seriously behind on. Is there a social service agency in the Los Angeles or San Fernando Valley area of California that addresses these particular areas of assistance more besides the local Community Development Dept and Community Action Board?
PS also have a disabled / homeless friend who has been waiting to get into the Section 8 program for well over 20 years, but they keep mishandling/displacing her file info cause of identity theft. Is there an agency that oversees these kinds of problems who could perhaps assist in expediting a resolution to her problem?
