Re: Debt help

Post by David Steinberg »

Hi, my name is Judy. I am 57 and on disability Social Security and way in debt. I worked part-time up until this year.
I have a car that I owe $5,700 on, besides my other bills, credit card debt and expenses. On January 5th, during a routine biopsy, I was in a fire. Since then, I’ve had mounting medical bills, copays, and medication expenses. My only insurance is Medicare—no supplement or drug plan. I have a lawyer, but that doesn’t help me with my immediate needs.
I am trying to keep up with expenses while bouncing between my brother’s and daughter’s homes. I owe $5,700 on my car, and I am trying to find help to pay it off. I was also in a car accident when a deer jumped in front of my other car and totaled it. Insurance covered all but $200, which I had to pay to the loan company. In December, I got a Ford Fusion, and that is the car I am asking for help to pay off.
I now have credit card debt of $18,000 that I am also trying to manage. Losing the extra $500–$980 per month I used to make has really hurt me and my credit. On top of that, I face a long road ahead with treatment, skin grafts, and plastic surgery for my face.
Thank you for any help you can give me. If you can’t, I understand—I’m just reaching out to try to get some help. I do not want help from the state of Minnesota, as the conditions of their programs are too strict.

Hi all,
There are many resources listed above, such as credit counseling, info on "general" debt relief, etc. But another may be a grant. Some organizations offer grant money (though rare) for bills such as utilities, etc. The savings you all will experience from those grants can be used to help reduce your other debts, and find the grant programs here. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... bills.html

Re: how do you grants to help pay your bills and debts?

Post by Admin - Jon McNamara »

Not sure if there are grant programs for debts. If there are, they are rare. Much more likely to work is credit counseling, payment plans, and similar solutions. They can all be options for you to get back on track with credit card bills. So are response is here, and find a list of debt help programs.

Thank you for being available to assist me in my financial planning needs and financial assistance for my debts. I'm trying to buy my first home and because I have so much educational loan debt, even though they are in deferment status ....I really need a financial planner to help me to negotiate a low price payment plan (that will not increase within the next four to five years) that would help mortgage lenders to lend me the money for my home. Not only am I looking for a first-time home ownership program to get into, am I also looking forward to reducing my debt to income ratio to qualify for a home mortgage loan.
Thank you for contacting me.

Hi,
I need help with everything as I am way behind on my debt. I had started getting seizures last year. I was in the hospital for 4 days. I have a huge medical bill debt as well as credit card debt. Over 37,000.00. I don't know how to pay this. I need help. And Christmas is coming. I don't know what to do. If I could get help thanks so much.

Hello, I was wondering if you had any information available for Columbus, Ohio on landlords that will rent to a family that has an open eviction or that can give me financial advice on credit repair and debts? We have been in an extended stay hotel for the last 5 months and are having no luck finding someone that will rent to us due to the open eviction. Any information about where we could start to get financial advice would be greatly appreciated.

If all your debts are upside down, that is obviously not good. Talk to a credit counselor. As far as the car payments, there are some options and/or assistance programs when underwater on car loans. find there here, and get help when owe more on car loan than auto is worth.

I need help paying my upside down rent debt of $1163. I have been trying to chip away at it but I was unemployed during December 2015. My mother prior to this had taken over $2000 from me while she was supposed to be helping me. I'm in recovery and doing all this for the first time and was naive. My old job was an hour from my home and when I could get there I paid $20 each way. With that and missing work due to no transportation and the debt on my upside down car loanI fell behind. I am now employed closer to home but spend December unemployed. I need help paying my rent debt so I can get back on track.

Try some of the Bank of America debt assistance programs. Then, when it comes to unpaid child support, legal aid may help. If you need someone to talk too, try a non-profit credit counseling agency.

I need to know who I can talk with and get my life back on track.
I would appreciate any help or programs out there that could help me.

I have a family of 4 and 1 due in April 2019. I don't want to give a so story but I've exhausted all options and don't know where else to turn. Because of a conviction I have been unsuccessful in securing a residence and also way in debt. We're currently living in a motel which is costing me $1240 a month. That doesn't include about $50 a day (or more) to eat, and our normal regular bills. Car payment, insurance, cell phone etc. After taxes and insurance, I'm lucky if I bring home 1750 a month. It doesn't take long to go thru that and no room to stock money away for security deposit and rent once we found a place. Well I found a place and because I've had to borrow even more detb to keep us a float for so long I can't borrow any more to cover first month and security which is $1190. I have a 1 more weeks’ worth of payment for the hotel on a credit card then all my cards are maxed out and all I have is my paychecks...then other bills are going to suffer.
I'm in a never-ending cycle or rut and I need financial help. I don't know where else to turn and I came across your organization and thought of reach out. I'm confident that if I could get over this little bump in the road we'd be ok. Can you help us or point me in a direction of someone that can? I'm feeling really discouraged and can't handle any more run around. Thank you and God bless

You may not believe this, but some churches offer debt assistance programs. They are part of a Dave Ramsey service, and you can read more about them here. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... ith_c.html

Re: Large amount of debt

Hi Maxie!
A loan to pay off existing debt? So want to consolidate it? if so, be sure the interest rate is lower, you have a plan to repay the money, and take other steps. We have details here. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... loans.html

Large amount of debt

Post by Maxie »

Dear sir or madam, Due to an (extremely!) big downturn of events, I have a large (for me, anyway) amount of debts (for yardwork, as well as a payment due to a law service {because of a suspicious internet activity on my account}, as well as some medical issues {$25.00-eye exam}, and a checking account {see lawyer, above} that is in threat of being closed. This last problem threatens to bring needed monies to $500.00. After exhausting every other avenue of either raising capital or seeking monies, bring me to using this forum. If you have anyone or any organization that can even a loan that can cover this, I would be sorely grateful! sincerely,

Re: how do you grants to help pay your bills and debts?

Post by Diantranise »

I am in need of grant help with my utilities and credit card debt. I have a disconnect notice that I took to Tri County Community Action Agency in Bridgeton, NJ they said they don't have any funds. I recently stopped working due to a diagnosed mental illness and now support myself and my two year old on 322$ welfare grant. They said the 48$ per month USF fund is all they will allow. Also I cannot get any assistance with my electric bill because my eldest daughter (21) was somehow added on to my account. So they have said it’s not considered my account. I did not add her and it is holding me and her up as I cannot get assistance and even though she does not live here she cannot get utilities for her new apartment until this bill is paid in full as well as my other debts. She was added on years ago when she was a minor I never said anything because I have always worked so I didn't qualify for any assistance anyway. However now both of our situations have changed drastically. I desperately need help. Please respond as soon as possible.

I am not married but am in the process of being bought out of my home by the father of my children. Since we were never married I have also been left with a large amount of debt that was in my name and I need free financial advice as I would like to get out of this debt in some way so that I may purchase a home for my daughters that I have 50/50 custody of and he refuses to pay any child support. That is basically every single items that anyone could ever be faced with. It may be easier to say what you don't need help with. We suggests a credit counselor, job coach, and community action to get started with. But you will never have all those needs addressed. Maybe consider bankruptcy too. But here are some resources to try for a debt management plan. http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... _plan.html
Bellicheck wrote:I need food assistance, benefits other income, prenatal care, and parenting resources. I am 10K + in credit card debt. I also need help with child information, medical assistance, crime victim compensation, pregnancy complications, and tips on starting a new business at home.
I also need government funding for at home business and tips on preventing my children leaving our home. All sorts of financial assistance is needed as well as information on family programs.
Can people help me with managing my own money and paying bills? Or, last but not least, helping with the debts? I need disability benefits and guidance on filing for unemployment benefits, and maybe some other resources and income.

Have been disabled and unable to work for the past 2 month, the first of which I was homeless. I have several tickets and medical bills due soon and am finding that it may be impossible for me to cover my rent ($300/ wk.) and become homeless again, or wait on the bills, pay the rent and have my debt and credit severely affected. I am 26 and terrified of losing my car or being on the streets again. Please help.

Debts are upside down

Post by Kathy_Matts »

Hello, I am upside down with my bills, credit card debts, and student loans. Car, vehicle and pay day loans that I tried to get to get out of the whole and now it is deeper. I can't even pay my living expenses. I need money for utilities or gas go to grocery store for my kids.
I have a week and a half until I have to be out of my apartment with my toddler who I'm getting visits with and about to get back from CPS. I was evicted because my soon to be ex-husband (separated 6 months, father of my child) pulled a knife on me and I had to call the police. The apartment officials say they evict anyone whose household had to call the cops over a "domestic dispute" and that by doing so we also disturbed the neighbors.
My ex is no longer even allowed near me. If I don’t have a stable home and get rid of some of these debts by the 14th of September, I won't be getting my daughter back. I start my job on the 26th of September but I need immediate help so no longer upside down on bills. Eviction is the 31st of August.
