Re: Credit Card Debt
The best thing to do may to look into a credit counseling agency in Minnesota. While a grant won't help, the thing you need to try for the debt on the cards is payment plans, saving more money, and doing the basic things. But the non-profit can provide the best advice that is relative to Minnesota. Click more information.

Unemployed with credit card debts
To whom it may concern:
I have been laid off since December of 2012. I was collecting unemployment insurance up until December 28th, when the federal program was shut down. I have only my pension of $1400 per month and have bills that far exceed the amount I have coming in. Is there any program that will provide me with a source of income?
I am 58 years old and cannot find a job due to age discrimination. I had a lawyer from Texas supposedly helping me with debt consolidation last year, but all they did was take $3200 of my money and never paid a bill. I have probably $30,000 in credit card debit. I need help.
Thank you

Re: Credit Card Debt
Servicing credit card debit for 6 years. Garnishments as well. Barely surviving. One minor child at home. Desperately need help. Spouse left the home in 20011 leaving all debt to me in which unfortunately all was in my name. Can hardly buy groceries. Owe the IRS because I have to claim 8 on my dependents throughout the year in order to make ends meet.
Huge mess here with all these debts. Have tried local resources and either I make too much or the funding is not available. Have applied for government grants and cant even afford to pay the shipping fees in order to receive the package. No computer access. Only through cell phone and do to it not being a smart phone I cannot access a lot. Any information that can be sent via mail would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Credit Card Debt
Have temporarily gotten behind on all bills including rent. I’m behind 3 months on rent and am trying to take care of my partner who is HIV positive and may be facing cancer which we will find out in two weeks after the biopsy. He is unemployed an I only have one job of 32 hours a week. I could use some assistance to pull out of the debt I have occurred and get back on healthy track. Credit cards are maxed and credit score is falling rapidly. I am trying my best to obtain a second job but am finding it difficult. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Re: CREDIT CARD BILLS
I am living in a single utility apartment in Alabama. I have two jobs and I work night and day. Because of some old tickets from 2004 I have not been able to pay my rent in full because I fear going to jail and losing everything I've worked so hard to have. I am now over 2000 in debt with my landlord. I owe hundreds on my credit card to Bank of America. I need help paying my rent and these bills so I can catch up. My rent is 900 a month. And in two weeks I will be in worse debt. And my landlord has already given me an eviction notice. Please if there is anybody out there who can help. I have a 9 month pregnant girlfriend and I am about to be a father I cant fail my family. Please find it in your heart to help. Sincerely devoted christian.

Maxed out on credit cards
I have been struggling to keep up with all my monthly obligations and credit card bills after my mother had her surgery last year 03/28/12. We were promised different kinds of help but during the "waiting" phase we had to pool all our monies to muddle through & now I can no longer afford to pay all my bills. The worse part is all my moms help has still not all kicked in so all we can do is wait while I hope our stove,TV, fridge, table, washer...do not get repossessed, plus I'm maxed out on credit cards & we need an air conditioner to boot! And it gets hot here in Texas! I'm at a loss & have no light at the end of my tunnel! And that is only part of our story, there is still more! All I can say is we need help!

Re: Credit Card Debt
I am so far in debt. I have over $50,000 in medical bills, behind on my rent, and credit cards. I live with my ex who is hounding me every day for it but I only get $149/week on unemployment which doesn’t go far but do have very good job leads. I need so much money to catch up and to find a place of my own to get away from this guy who is still verbally abusive. How can I get help to rent for a couple months for a place of my own? How can I get help to pay off my medical bills?
Re: Credit cards
Hello Staff,
Thanks for the speedy response! I have several different bills. Chevron Gas card bills, Discover card, SMUD electric and PG & E gas bills, the county has a lien on my house for water and sewer , Citrus Heights water bill, Allied Waste Garbage bill is probably going to be next to put a lien, several of my credit cards are in collections along with my cell phone bill, that went into collection last January, the car repair bill, Direct TV just shut off and I only have 2 stupid months left to end that contract, but it will go into collections, same with Wells Fargo since my Life Insurance policy overdrafted I can't close the account even though I canceled my policy.. My dryer garbage disposal, dishwasher and garage door are broken and this house was built in 2004!
I am loaning my car and gas card to my friend who has a cleaning business that just had her company car repossessed, but she said if my power gets shut off I can live with her for a while, even though it's 900 square feet and with my dog that would be 6 dogs and a cat and 3 adults. She is paying me $10 a week for doing her laundry and putting extra gas in my car, hopefully she can pay for my insurance next month as well. She thinks my foot is too messed up for me to work doing cleaning with her crew. My car has 235,000 miles on it and needs more work. Amazing how hard times shows who your real friends are.
I actually still had a 760 FICO score about 2 years ago, not any more. I have gotten 1 interview a year for the last 4 years, my retirement is gone. Wish I could get a grant to help us all.

Re: Credit cards
That is quite an extensive list of issues and help that you need. We do have a summary of all the Bank of America programs for debts and bills. This may be a good starting point for you. Car repairs are harder to get help with. Anyway, try this for Bank of America assistance programs, counseling, and debt reduction programs.

Please call me to discuss different options you can provide me. Looking forward to talking with you at your earliest convenience. Thank you

Re: Credit Card Debt
That is a long list of bills and debts. One of the first things is shelter and food. After that, need to get rid of, or greatly reduce that high debt payments and loans. Can look into debt management plans, free credit counseling, settlement, and much more. Even just look for some short term relief at our resource for debt help. We literally have dozens of programs and agencies listed for the less fortunate in the community.

She can't afford all this, and the credit cards are like 18%, and I can't help her because I work for free and applied for food stamps. if she could at least get help with the water bill which is due again now that would be enough please let me know what to do? thanks in advance.

Re: CREDIT CARD BILLS
It sounds like you have done a thorough amount of research and have tried to address this on your own, which is great. In addition to that work you are doing, we also suggest looking into credit counseling services from a non-profit agency in the Miami Florida region. A number of agencies operate and are focused on helping people reduce their debts, credit card bills, and get back on track. Find more on Miami credit counseling agencies. They can help you get that fresh start that you so want and need.

We are not living as husband and wife but we do care very much about one another. Anyway he gets SSI and less money then I do. We moved into our place here back in the summer and thought we would have enough to pay our bills, buy our medicines, eat and etc... but we are not able to do this. We needed to borrow money from family, we ran up credit card bills and debts, who we have to pay back as soon as our next check comes in and we borrow money from Cash N Go company and we have to pay back $252.50 each month. So before we start our month off with our money to live on and pay bills, we are out of hundreds and hundreds of dollars because of needing to borrow so much on our credit cards. The last week of every month we buy nothing. No medicine, gas to go to doctors and/or stores, we have very little food and usually need to borrow money to pay for my car insurance too. We just get further and further behind. We need to get some help paying off some bills like rent and utilities and credit cards such so we can start a new month fresh without any owing of anyone. If we can get one months help to pay our bills now, we should be ok after that but I do not know how to get help or if I can even get any help. I tried reading all types of stuff on the internet and phoning numbers given from some government sites for help but again with no success. Please can you help me? I do not go and/or do any thing except stay home and try to get better. I can not even remember the last time I ate on the dollar menu at McDonalds or any other place and/or bought anything personal for me in so long a time. Thankfully they understand because they too can not help me. I had worked all my life since the age of sixteen until I became disabled in 99 but I tried several times to go back to work with no success. I have done many volunteer services when I was able and donated money when able. I am a proud loyal American citizen who can no longer function without help, made a mistake running up credit cards and have not asked for help from others and now I am asking for more help to get me back on my feet. I use to have Section 8 to pay my rent but then I met my boyfriend and he was able to pay the rent and work so I thanked them and discontinued the program but now he too can not work. Please if you can help me, I will be ever so grateful. Thank You and God Bless! Sincerely,
