I need help finding rental assistance programs in my area.
My address is: Los Angeles, CA 90068, United States
I am looking for rental assistance, emergency rent help, eviction prevention support, or any housing stability programs available for my location.
Could you please let me know which programs or agencies I may be eligible to contact?

My son and I are both disabled living in a rental home in Los Angeles. We are struggling with the increase of bills and expense of food and trying to pay rent.
Recently my SSI cut my disabled son's benefits by 333.00$. I am seeking assistance with rent as it is 895.00 per month which takes up my monthly income and SSI is paying my disabled son 455.00 but not paying the difference with SSI benefits he should be receiving. I am seeking rental, utility and food assistance.
Rental assistance would really help us get by. If anyone can get us started so we don't go homeless like so many others in LA it would greatly be appreciated. I live in California and don't have any assistant contacts. If any applications are available. It would be the beginning of getting our lives situated. I need surgery for a slipped disc. I am unable to walk. My son has crohns and I.B.S so we are really in need of financial assistance. Thank you.......

Hi Jasmine,
We have the link to our programs listed on our website, which is here. We cover both the county, city and that 90035 zip code too.
https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... tance.html
But since you are very specific in the zip code, the United Way 211 may be a good option for you as well. As they sometimes have very targeted programs for a certain street in LA county, and that info is here. https://211la.org/resources/subcategory/housing

Re: Where is rent help in South Los Angeles?

Post by Joe Terranova »

I live in the state of California.  I live in the Los Angeles county.  I live in the city of Los Angeles and southern part.
At this current time my bank account money is going lower and I was looking for some money help for me to pay my monthly rent expenses.  I asked the internet for any type of help to pay my monthly expenses and I found your website.
Your website said that they could help find local money help to pay my rent agencies in my street area.
Could you return your answer. Again I need help so that I can get some money to pay my monthly expenses?

Hello Anita,
Yes, LA County and Agoura Hills CA are expensive! As are so many cities. As far as the rent help for the one month, look here. But it is great you think you will be on track in the future. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... ogram.html

But since you are a single mom in Agoura Hills who seems to be struggling, we recommend you look into more affordable options too for your kid(s). Find other housing information here. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... tance.html

Hello!
My name is Anita. I live in Agoura Hills, CA where housing is expensive. It is everywhere in southern California.
I have a son and am a single mom. Unfortunately, we are having hard time paying our rent this month and I am desperately looking to find charity organizations to help us with paying our rent. I would appreciate it so much. I think I will be fine in the future just this month help is needed.
Please let me know if you can help us as soon as you can. If you need any more information please reach out to me. Thank you so much!

Re: Money for first months rent in Granada Hills

Post by Admin - Jon McNamara »

Hi,
Since you are moving to Granada Hills for work, and have a sponsor / job lined up, can that employer help you relocate? Maybe refer you to programs and temporary housing to get you settled in Granada Hills as you save money for that move and security deposit? If not, look here for rent help in the Granada Hills area as well as LA County. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... tance.html

Money for first months rent in Granada Hills

Post by Verlanders »

Good Day.

I am sending this email to ask for help with my first months rent if possible. While I am scrolling around the google searching for possible help for me and my children I was sent to your page. So by any chance I just wanted to try for money to pay that rent in advance or the deposit too for a place in Granada Hills, which is Los Angeles CA-91344. I am a J teacher from the Philippines it will be my 3rd year this coming. I was teaching in Page Arizona for the last 2 years but moved to Granada Hills. I have my 3 kids with me all girls. I have my 1 year old and 5mos baby with me. I received a job offer from LAUSD in VOCES school but due to the vetting process of my visa sponsor I still do not have my new DS2019 which the district requires before I can finally start a contract. We moved last June 30th because of the fact that I will be teaching here. The good thing is my sister and mother is here in Granada Hills but my sister is just renting a 2 bedroom apartment.
I cannot rent an apartment because I do not have sufficient funds for the deposit and a coming one month rent in advance and my credit score isn’t that high since I stopped using credit cards for a year.
I am just feeling anxious especially for my baby that we will urgently be moved out in my sister house if the landlord finds out we are here.
I am just concerned with my 3 children which are all girls if ever this will happen. My visa sponsor told me to wait a little bit.
Maybe your good organization can help me out first if possible. If maybe you can help me look for money to be borrowed once I start working I will start paying and help me look for a possible house around the Granada Hills or LA area too.
I am praying and hoping to hear back from you soon.

Hi Dorothy
We are not familiar with LA and what is south vs other areas as we are not from there. But try the countywide rent assistance programs in Los Angeles. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... tance.html

There is also a homeless prevention program that may help you. In general the organizations try to stop evictions, which of course would cover south LA County. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... _prev.html

Hi Victoria,
As far as getting an affordable place in LA, as you know (probably better than us) that is easier said then done. But we do have information on place that may help you with your rent. Also since you are a survivor of abuse, try services for survivors. As far as the LA County rent assistance programs, try these for resources. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... tance.html

There is no way you can get rent assistance if it is due at 5pm. You are starting the process way too late. Also sending bad check sure will not help your case. It is destroying your credit, giving the courts more reason to side with the landlord, etc. But hey, you can try to apply to rent help in Los Angeles from charities or government offices. The most they can say is no.

I am behind on my rent for the month of November. I had medical issues as well as being laid off my job after 8 years of working there in down town Los Angeles. I'm 60 years old with progressive rheumatoid arthritis in both hands and rhynaurds disease in both feet.
I have applied for unemployment, food stamps all available but my rent is due today at 5. I keep telling him I'm working on it. I wrote him a check for $800 to try to buy time the check came back and now he is more upset, so please I need help.

My husband was the household provider for my family, he has been held now for eight months in the immigration detention center in Los Angeles. I have been doing whatever I can to support my three children and myself since. All I ask is for some help with my rent please!! I am behind on three months. I've went to ask for some help from our cities Human Resources office and Catholic Charities and they said there out of funds. I truly need the help. So if you can please contact me, I will truly appreciate it. Thank you.

Try this resource for housing / ren assistance in Los Angeles. If that doesn't work, try the organization Beyond Shelter's "Housing First" Program for the LA area.
