Re: Need money for upcoming surgery
My son has been diagnosed with colon cancer after being sick for 2 weeks and unable to work. He has no insurance and is facing another surgery. He needs help paying his rent and utilities. As he has missed work since sick. But he really needs to pay for the surgery the specialists recommended. He has no money or insurance and is struggling.

Re: Need money for upcoming surgery
While it may be a stretch, maybe try a cash grant for the upcoming surgery. As the charitable foundations we have listed may offer them. Some of them also focus on children and/or the disabled, which may benefit you. Also, maybe Blue Cross Blue Shield has a customer support line you can dial for advice on in network health care providers. But here are the medical grants. http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... bills.html

This site has so many charitable foundations for different things. Blue cross blue shield insurance, but where we are getting his surgery done in NC, skull base institute, they are out of network.

Re: Surgery is upcoming
Hello I am trying to find a program for seniors to help them with a surgery. They also need help for the holidays, maybe a program that helps out, please read the story of my grandparents below. Thanks.
The grandma is now 84, and grand dad is now 88.
My grandmother grew up in East Nashville, My grandfather grew up in West Nashville. They both met at the movies around 1962
To this day she said it was love at first sight, 69 years later they are still together like two peas in a pod.
They lived in small one room house. My grandmother worked across town at a factory doing the city directory, my grandfather worked with printing companies running a printing press. They purchased their house together, that they still live in around 1960’s.
Later on in life my grandfather became a bus driver which he retired at, but kept part time jobs to provide for his family. My grandmother retired at D & T type setting company, but still continued to work part time jobs such as, H G Hills grocery store, and Walmart. Eventually both of my grandparents had to give up working due to their health declined about 10 to 13 years ago.
My grandmother and grandfather worked their whole lives to provide for their family, and would do anything it took to make sure their children/ grandchildren were taken care of, even if it meant working overtime.
They had two sons and a daughter. One passed away in his sleep from a massive heart attack in 2002.
My grandmother also was granted legal custody of me when I was 4 years of age, she was considered my legal guardian, and literally she was like an angel to me.
My grandmother raised her two sons, myself, and then helped me with my oldest son. I became pregnant at a young age and without her I could not have done it. I am now married and our kids are her world. My one son is now 14, and the other is 2. Her step grandchildren also living with us, so we are a full house come holidays!
My grandmother and grandfather have been through a rough time, my grandfather can barely hear, so sometimes you have to speak loudly to talk to him. He is a veteran and was in the Army in World War II, he also boxed in the army. He has had a heart attack and open heart surgery. He also has a lot of places on his skin that are cancerous, and his short term memory has recently declined. My grandmother has also has been a solider, not literally being in the Army but through life itself!
She has overcame breast cancer, a hip replacement, an upcoming knee surgery, shoulder surgery, sepsis at one point, a small stroke, she is almost blind, and now is in congestive heart failure, but to this day she says, she is fine, and continues each day of life as chirpy as she can be. Even being in a wheel chair and stuck in the house a lot, she always stays positive.
They both are on social security and after their bills they both literally have 70 bucks to run on each week, after the grocery store visit and medications, they are left with nothing. Since their health has declined they are also unable to keep up normal maintenance on their home.
I, as their granddaughter, just want to give back to them for everything they have done for everyone. They have lived a long hard, but loving and happy life. They deserve the world, and are such wonderful people.
Today I am reaching out to different groups to see if for the holidays they can do anything for my grandparents, they are in need of so many things. A good cooked meal, material house hold items, or a small Christmas gift would be so helpful!
You can email me back if you would like to volunteer to help them out this thanksgiving, or Christmas, or if you recommend anyone that would be a blessing! Thanks you.

Need money for upcoming surgery
I just came across your site. I'm a bit overwhelmed with who all could really help us out in the situation we are in. This site has so many charitable foundations for different things. We are a low income family with a "normal" child age 4 and a disabled child age 8. Husband and I are age 32 and 37. I'm a stay @ home mom and my husband is a rancher and drives country school bus. We live in South Car. Our 8 year old special need son needs to have heart surgery to a cyst growing that is putting pressure on his heart and arteries. His surgery is scheduled for May 21st. We have recently gotten him on blue cross blue shield insurance, but where we are getting his surgery done in NC, skull base institute, they are out of network. There is still a fine out of pocket chunk from balance billing, anistetiologist, gas to and from, $5,000 deductible.... We have fundraised all that we seem we can. We need some extra assistance if @all available????? If you could point me in the right direction as far as which charity foundations "could" help us, we'd much appreciate it. Thanks for your time, care and concern.

Re: Multiple surgeries needed
Try a free community clinic in your city of Atlanta. All across the nation there are thousands of medical and health care centers that help the low income and people with no, or limited, health insurance. Select the state of Georgia from this list http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/free_clinic.html in order to find clinics in Atlanta and the suburbs too. Many of them offer medications, dental care, and a number of medical and health care programs and solutions for the needy. Call or stop by a center in your state to learn more.

We have a 5 year old daughter who is starting school 10-10-11. I have been diagnosed with a degenerative bone disease which requires surgery on right knee (10-18-11). Immobile and unable to work, we are in dire need of assistance with our rent, need to find a doctor to do the surgery safely but cheaply and utility obligations as we are passed due on both. Any and all help will be appreciated and never forgotten.

Re: Multiple surgeries needed
Yes, try the medicine first before looking into surgery for the bulging discs. Maybe also look into some short term disability. Find our extensive list of medical bill help, whether for existing bills or debts or free prescriptions.

My husband died last year and my son is starting his fourth year at LSU. I just need temporary assistance until I can go back to work. I do have all my papers from going to the emergency room that I have been to 3 times in the last couple weeks. Please help me.

Re: Multiple surgeries needed
Try calling a community clinic in the White Plans area. Maybe they can do the surgery for you (which would be unlikely) but if they can't, they can probably advise you on government medical programs and other ways to get help with those bills. More on New York community clinics, such as the Mount Vernon Neighborhood HC 914-699-7200

The doctors were concerned for the babies health as well as mine then the nurses came in to prep me for surgery. I had a small baby then, and she weighed a whole 5lb 8.7oz and was only 18 in. Then tragedy strikes again on the 11th as 2 nurses walk into my room and tell me that my new son Randolph has a perforation in his stomach intestine and have stopped feeding him also they will be transferring him to a hospital in White Plain NY to undergo possible surgery...and all this was to happen right away. Well as you can imagine my husband and I were devastated with the not knowing what might happen. I spent one month and three days in White Plain pretty much living out of a suit case spending my days at the hospital by my sons bedside and worrying about my husband back at home which was an hour and a half away. My husband would try to come up every weekend as long as he wasn't working and usually one of his siblings provided the cash needed for him to do so. On the 11th of March my husband had just left me alone in a new city at the bedside of our little son...not even two hours later I get a phone call from him stating that he had just been in a pretty serious car accident...talk about more than one can bare...Finally on April 14th, 2011 Randolph and I were able to come back to another hospital and that is where we all remained until April 1st, 2011. However, approximately 3-4 wks before we were able to bring our son my husband was hurt again in a car crsh and I was once again rushed to the hospital to have yet another emergency surgery. My husband had lost several hours at his job and we were really feeling it through his paycheck. Now while all this was going on my husband was hurt and he went to the doctor and through an MRI of his back we found a blown disc, two intruding discs and an extruding disc...so were referred to a spine specialist in a town that is apporx. 30 min away...we don't have any money and his workmen's comp denies his claim because he didn't report it right away...but keep in mind he had his wife and son in a hospital that was thirty min. away from him and he was trying to keep things going at home with his two daughters from a previous marriage he had alot going on. Then on July 6th after three installments of epidurals that didn't work the spine specialist referred us to a back surgeon in another city. So my husband has been off of work for 3 mo due to this problem the spine specialist told us also that on top of all of the other problems with his back they also have found that he has a cracked vertebrae. The spine specialist has also told him he should not return to his current job which has made my husband very depressed even to the point of suicidal at times because he loves his job. So now we are just waiting on the spine surgeon which our appointment is on the 21st of July. Please help us!

Re: Surgery is upcoming
Well, you really should have looked at options more than one day before the surgery. The best thing to do is to work out payment options before someone goes under the surgery knife. Since you have so limited time, here is a link to get help with hospital bills, debts, and even information on free health care and surgery's.
http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... bills.html
So on the site you will also find programs for how to get help, and they can aid you while your income is gone for the next two weeks. Take care, and I hope everything goes well.
