Hi,
Well of course there are no guarantees to getting a deal or help, but the comments below may give you some insight. Note we have no way to verify those deals they wrote, but we kept them on the site as they are not "spam" and not so over the top. You can see our page of how to enter into a hardship program.
You may get some tips there on how the process works.

Can someone please tell me what to ask Bank of America? I tried multiple times to get help as I owe $7500 and lost my job. They are NOT giving me a deal. How did you all do this?

I had missed about three payments when I called Bank of America to ask about their hardship program. The first offer they gave me was a 5.5% fixed interest rate for five years with a $180 monthly payment. I told them I couldn’t afford that because I still needed to pay for food, utilities, and gas.
They came back with a much better offer: a 0% fixed rate for 58 months with a $160 monthly payment. It was a huge improvement and part of their emergency hardship program. It taught me not to accept the first offer — negotiating made a real difference.
I took a very polite and consistent approach when asking Bank of America for hardship help. I asked about forbearance and interest rate reductions, and I always answered when they called about the overdue balance. Every time, I calmly explained that I only had enough savings to settle for 25% right now — and that I might be able to pay more later, but couldn’t guarantee it.
They kept calling, and I kept repeating the same message, respectfully and consistently. I made it clear that I wanted to pay what I owed, but simply didn’t have the money. They warned me that my credit score would take a hit, but it already had. In the end, I settled a $55,000 debt for $10,000.
I settled two different credit card accounts with Bank of America.
The first one was straightforward — at the 180‑day mark, they agreed to settle for 25% of the balance and gave me three months to pay it off. They also lowered the monthly payment and extended the time through a deferral program.
The second account was much harder. It took a full year to settle, and we ended up agreeing on 35% of the balance. They waived all fees, which helped. I had tried to get into a hardship program earlier, but they weren’t cooperative at the time. My credit score dropped significantly, but it still wasn’t as bad as filing for bankruptcy would have been.
I owed around $30,000 on my Bank of America credit card at a 17% interest rate. I called them to explain that I was struggling because my wife had lost her job. I went over our expenses and the drop in income. They reviewed everything and came back with an offer: close the credit card account and reduce the interest rate to 5%. That brought my payment down to $586 per month for 60 months. It saved me thousands in interest.
My account was about eight months past due when I started calling Bank of America. I called several times and asked for a supervisor each time. After the third call, they finally initiated a process that led to a settlement where they reduced my balance by about 75%. They also let me skip some payments through a deferral program. Surprisingly, once things got moving, they were easy to work with.
I recently completed a settlement with Bank of America. When I first contacted them, I was about 60 days behind on my payments. By standing firm on what I could realistically afford, I ended up reducing my debt by almost 40% — roughly an $18,000 reduction. I also mentioned that I had spoken with an attorney and qualified for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, but that I preferred to pay something rather than walk away entirely. That seemed to help move the process along.
Hi Travis,
That is a lot. Can you file for disability? Or any medical transport for you or try Meals on Wheels for the food. As far as your bank of America bills and debt, we have a list of options here for you. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... tance.html
The bank also has some tips too and they are posted here. But call their customer service ASAP and talk to them about your situation and bills. https://promotions.bankofamerica.com/co ... management

My name is Travis and I’m in a bad bind.
I have been having medical problems that came about suddenly, and I have exhausted all the money I had saved by keeping the bills paid and feeding myself. I put so much on my Bank of America Card so now owe over 20K.
I am unable to go anywhere due to the fact I can barely walk let alone drive. So I haven't been able to work or had anything to eat but crackers for the last week and I feel like I'm losing more strength and not getting better. I don't know who to reach out to here. To get food, help with my bills and credit cards and life. I don't have any family and don't really have any friends that I call good enough friends that would help me out.
I'm at the end of my options here and I was trying to get better in order to go and make enough money to get the surgery I need and pay my bills.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I am trying to get help with getting money for paying my bank of America Credit Card.
I am a single working mother of two children and I currently live with my mother. And things are becoming very stressed with us. My mother is verbally abusive to me and tells me I can't cook meat and dairy in her house.
I have no gall bladder and mostly everything I eat causes me to have to go to the bathroom.
I am working to pay the Bank of America Card. But because I have more going out than coming in I am in a bind for getting funds together. I currently have $100 for the BOA credit card but I need $600.
If you could offer any assistance with agencies that could help me that would be great.

I so much am sick of Bank of America. They keep increasing my fees and credit card interest rate, and my debt and bills go up every month. Email me and lets get a group together to fight and challenge BOA.
